Mr Landberg! This is one of the best looking shower niches we’ve seen. The tile is sleek, the design is modern. Miter edges look awesome 👊🏼 definitely pulling some inspiration for the future 💪🏼
Thanks, love your channel guys! Comrades here! 😎
Shouldn't the bottom sill have been put in first so the back tile would sit on it allowing for better drainage?
Gonna try my rookie attempt at redoing my whole shower soon as I retire and the clarity and speed that you teach makes the thought less daunting. Watching your videos gives me confidence that I will be able to do this.
Thank you!
It troubles me that the centre tile in niche isn’t sitting on top of bottom tile for waterproofing purposes.
You don't need because he's using a Kerdi niche and it's already waterproofed.
@@lauriesoleim2802 : well why allow water in joints and potentially creep and fester.
I’m a watershed guy. Niche ledge goes in first.
Where you have a small gap that is not filled, would the water travel in a small crack by capillary action anyway?
I am guessing the important thing is to have a gap for a flexible sealant.
I like this. I also like old-fashioned edge tile. the new metal edge stuff although looks clean, looks out of the 70s to me ; )
Always a nice finished product. But I find the videos lack explanation on measuring and tips / tricks.
(For ex. How far below the level of the tile do you set the foam board of the niche.)
Here is a video that might help th-cam.com/video/q5lM6s4pJDg/w-d-xo.html
I actually wanted a clean look like this but with my cheap ceramic 3/8 inch tile I was afraid that even with a good grout line that the edge might chip over time - so passed on it, but yes good to see it done this way as I wasn't sure it would work. I would also put the tiles in a different order for the waterfall effect of water not getting in behind the tiles.
Mad skillz all day erryday!! Hoping all is well Liggy Liggy Landberg, Dirty Jersey out!!
yes sir!
Love the mitered corners. I would install the pieces in a different sequence however. Shelf piece first then the top then the sides with the back piece last. Just the way I install a niche. I have the same Dewalt saw also.
Thank you Donald- that's the way i do mine as well. Got to keep the water out from behind those tiles.
From a waterproofing standpoint that just makes sense... not that this job will fail because of it but some people put too much faith in the waterproofing below that they forget your last chance to keep water from getting to the waterproofing is in how the tile gets laid
Thank you for making an awesome video!!! loved the fast forward and limited talking. Great work
I always love your music.
Yessss!
Go Berg!
I've done a few of these as it is a nice finished look.
Beautiful job.
Berg Makes it Look Easy 💯
I'm crying just watching this $$$$$ schluter product being used for a demo. lol
Personally I think it would look better if the sill protruded a fraction to hide that outside join because the join is not perfect and there will be yellowing of the grout in future. The sill would also need to be slightly bevelled top and bottom.
Excellent and it looks fabulous. Two small issues. 1. Please, calm down a bit, My ears were burned out after this. 2. It's Neeeeeeesh, not nitch. Great work my man. Yo! ;)
How tf do you get your dewalt saw to cut bevels? My dewalt saw with whichever $80-$120 blade on it cuts in and out ever since it was brand new.
Excellent clean work!!
Nice job very very clear explication!
Quality job...well done. Thanks for sharing.
very explanation good work.
Fantastic video, Thank you Sr much appreciated
Appreciate it ! Question: How do I explain this to the person doing my tile and should an experience tile person know how to make a miter cut?
Hard to explain as planning is difficult to avoid "notch" cuts around the niche. It will cost more and yes, they will need have some experience doing it before.
Very nice 👌 👍
Ur an artist 🎨
As always another awesome video. Once again very informative. I do like the clean look of having no trim. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. Keep the videos coming please. “FLIP”
Awsome! do you leave a gap on the mitered edge to fill with grout? how do you fill any gaps?
Yes, we leave a joint for grout. Prism grout fits in any size joint.
Great job as always 👍
Do the video on calibrating the DEWALT tile saw
as per your tile layout the back of your niche should have a seam in the middle
pretty legit!
Hi, Is there supposed to be a grout gap at the back and corners of the nitch or do you apply sealant to the corners?
We use grout
I notice you use the Dewalt saw more than any other saws. This seems better then the trim. And less work. Good video 👍
Dewalt will always be my favorite!
Cool 👍👌✊
This tile looks like....
American Villa Noir Black Veined 12-in x 24-in Glazed Porcelain Marble Stone Look Floor and Wall Tile
from Lowes
This guy does excellent work!!!
thank you!
Very nice
Thank you sir
Thank you very much!!!
Very Cool Berg...;-)
How to keep soap from sliding off of it
Nice like always what do you recommend to ground it and be water proof also
What do you do if you don't have a wet soil that does miter edges
Good job
im assuming you left out water proofing the seam in the kerdi for expediency ?
Demo purposes only 😎
@@LandbergTileTV So you teach a demo that is not what you do in real world? And wonder why so many DYI mistakes.
Why do you have the sill angled towards the back of the wall where the water can pool and seep? Thought you were supposed to angle it towards the outside so that it can drain off?
The sill is pitched out, not in.
You obviously can't read a bead it's falling away
Sorry Landberg comment wasn't aimed at you it was ment for the guy who can't read a bead it obviously drops away respect from Scotland
Do YOU caulk the interior joints of the niche?
no we don't
Great video man. Cheers. One question though, between the mitred tiles, what size gap? And would you suggest grout or silicone?
grout in the gap, silicone inside the niche
Hey what type of wet saw did you use for this?
How did you seal it ?? Lol
True professional. 👍
Step 1: buy an 800 dollar wet saw.
Very cool though. I don't get how you make sure the tile lands perfectly where the niche is though.
what adhesive was used? MAPei?
where can i find a stone sill like the one you used?
How should the edges be finished to continue with the seamless look?
I wished I had your saw!
nice
Dude... miters are flawless...
however...
set the stone first. That way water is going to run down the back and sides onto the stone and out... instead of sitting on/soaking into a grout joint at the back edges.
Cool
Trying to send pics. Not working. Anyway i could send them to yiu personally? I would appreciate the help. Name is vince
Hello, great job on all videos. Beast , for sure. I did like and subscribe and hoping you could help me out. My tile guy was not so tile friendly( pun intended, not a nice guy either) he did a niche for me but he did not 45 the edges and it looks extremely rookie. Could you tell me how I could remove edge pieces and redo? I have gotten much better with tile ing and feel I could handle the job. Here are pics
You will probably need to tear out the niche completely and redo. Schluter jolly is a great trim for niches
Can you build one with mosaics?
sure can!
And demonstration!
I wish I can have that wet saw 😢
I have no idea what day it is because there was no Tile Tool Tuesday this week.
No excuses, I got lazy! Will put one up this Tuesday for sure. I have a lot of really great tools to review for future vids..
Right on. Just giving you a hard time, really enjoy the channel.
How much do you need to add or subtract from the measurement to account for the mitre?
at least 3/8 " (thickness of the tile)
Great content can you tell link me up for those dewalt niche clamps pls ?
thanks! link is in the video description
@@LandbergTileTV Your Link is for standard clamps. Do you have a link for the inverted design? Thanks, bro, great content. Unless those clamps can be switched around?
@@deeplorable8988 yup, remove and switch around
If it was me I would have put a joint vertically in the niche to make it all look like a true brick set pattern.
Or initially do my tile layout so that I end up with no joint in the niche🙂
yup, that's an option, or deco mosaic in the back
I can never cut miters on my wet saw. Always cuts crooked
The secret is to cut the tile to length first with a good blade. Then you either can set your saw to a bevel and cut the angle or use an angle grinder with a grinding/polishing wheel.
I've been doing bathrooms for over 10 years and this is my least favorite thing to do besides grouting and sanding. Even worse when they want two of them side by side.... mind you i am not a career tiler and don't have all the pro tools for tiling, just the basics to reno a whole bathroom. Not to say my tiling isn't good, just that it takes me way longer than it probably would if i had more tools at my disposal.
No waterproofing membrane?
demo
How do I do this without spending a fortune on a miter tile saw? Can I rent one? Thanks for the video!
Harbor Freight 10" with miter
@@LandbergTileTV thanks!
Whatcha going to do with that after you are done?
use it for future tile tool Tuesday videos 😎 hole drilling, grinder cutting etc.
Kick ass
I don't think you'd ever be able to get those angles right enough for a miter niche without buying that premade box.
Hallo guy... you wrong the sequence...
First one is the down ceramic...
Last one is the center of the niche...
Not with a Schluter prefab niche 100 % waterproof
@@LandbergTileTV Shouldn't matter if they advertise 100% waterproof...cause you never know..... and it pays to take the extra measure....that's going the "extra mile" to do things in a way to minimize every possible mishap
What tile is this?
porcelain
Stone goes first sr. ans looks better with stone lip
Many ways to build a sill
Pimpin isnt easy but its necessary.
I would rather miter the tile then deal with my shit chop saw and 8 mitered corners that never match and endless sanding no matter how square my niche is...
Absolutely. Plus the Schluter silver trim looks cheap. Harry Homeownerish.
Next natural progression to bullnose
I appreciate your videos. You must work 8 days a week..
It's pronounced neesh
The marble piece going always first and then the other pieces around on top, this guy is a noob
