Oh Michele, you wear your beauty well! (just commenting) Sad to hear of the Sky Mule Zip line system you were using. Glad no-one was hurt! I know its a set back, but I'm sure your improvements will be beneficial for your continued efforts. When Clyde was 'baying', it got my dog going and it was a much needed laughter watching him respond to Clyde. You are doing so well and its so impressive!
That intro scared me... the somber music with the dogs running around had me thinking something horrible happened to one of them. Thankfully they're all okay! Whew!
No matter what happened- Glad you both are safe. Things happen and we move on. Love hearing about the dogs and running about. If Clyde only understood how many mountains and thick brush you go through for him. You live in such a gorgeous landscape- be grateful and keep smiling. Thanks for sharing real life. You rock.
I know. If only he knew how much I think and worry about him. And how time I’ve spent finding him! Love him to bits, and will do it for him till the day he dies ❤

Great video Michelle. Your introduction on Hannah brought me back to sad resent memories. My daughter had to put her oldest dog down on Friday, very sad day she was a part of our lives for 10 years. My son quoted Queen Elizabeth ii " Grief is the price we pay for love". So true but the loving memories definitely outway the sad, it's hard. We will miss you, Harley.
Some lessons must be learned the hard way. They stick with us longer that way. You are so good at sawmilling. This will give you another chance to get even better at it. As you say now you will have an improved system that will be safer. Thankfully you have Steve to build it. How about you build something special out of the damaged wood to commemorate you and Steve overcoming a rough spot in your lives. Look how much joy a simple stick can bring when one is free and out in nature. Love you videos.
I am glad you are both safe and OK I hope Steve comes up with a system that makes it a little less stressful sending goods down the the build site. Us men do tend to think we know best but you are a saintly lady for not braining him with a piece of the broken timber 🤣🤣 looking forward to seeing next week's episode. Take care and stay safe 🙏 love from John in the UK xx
Thank goodness THE BIG FAIL happened with replaceable wood and not your precious now-installed door. I loved it when you tracked down big Clyde, but then just watched him at first as he diligently pursued his chosen quarry. Our hounds are such one-tracked mined doofs, but they do love it when we join them to witness how good their big sniffy noses work.
Lol. Yep I always watch him to see what he’s up to, and to see how long it takes him to smell me in his presence. I yelled to him that day cuz I thought he was gonna get away farther uphill and make me hike up more. 😊 He is so dang cute and worth every minute of my searches.
We learn even more from failures than from successes. Glad no-one got hurt; that was a scary moment! Thanks for your honesty and for being such a wonderful person, Michelle.
I've learned that many times it's better and safer to move smaller loads at a time. You are the expert in using the Sky Mule so you should have been the one coordinating the movement of the boards. Believe me, I can understand your frustration with waste of your time and hard work and to have the boards destroyed at the bottom of the mountain. Maybe Steve work out a braking or slow feed system for the Sky Mule while he's fixing it. Glad that you were not injured during the incident. Love your videos.
You don't grow without mistakes and challenges. While sometimes painful, setbacks give us the opportunity to achieve better. Here's to a better skymule and lessons learned. Cheers!
"Well, that didn't go quite as planned!" Physics, gravity, mass, momentum, strops, ropes and knots... - You've got some kindling! 😁 I'm glad you're all safe and Clyde is home after drifting off AGAIN! - I wonder what smells he finds out there?! - Large cats and bears I guess? Press onwards another step. Fortunately you have lots of trees, so quantity of wood is plentiful! Love your work Michelle, you're one tough woman! ❤
Well just be thankful that no one was hurt and this gives Steve the chance to upgrade the sky mule.... the boards can be replaced. And food for thought, lesson learned never second guess your gut instinct when you know something needs to be done especially when it could be dangerous. I'm just glad you both are all right. We're all allowed one mistake, just step up next time and do what you know needs to be done.
Here I am with my second comment you t w o are amazing people always remember why you two got together and the love that you have for life cuz life gets in the way and you forget why you love each other Steve is a good man and you're lucky to have him as a partner in life as well as all your dogs thank you for being Who You Are
Sorry to hear about your setbacks, Lovely. There’s a story to tell on every worthwhile project. Yours is no exception. That’ll make it even more special after it’s completed. ❤
The music at 7:30 reminds me of the old days living in Kentucky, sitting on the porch of my back woods shack, a little home brew, my old guitar and my bloodhound, Red, barking at some critters. Didn't have no GPS in those days, so Red was on his own to get back to the domicile. Such a simple life.
Hi Michelle! Your first mistake: 1, Don’t load that thing up so much. 2, Never let the thing free-wheel. Whew! I just binge-watched your last 19 videos. My summer was whacked, thanks to a flood that destroyed my house, truck, and pretty much everything else, and I got a little behind. I'm so sorry to hear about Hannah, but I'm glad that she's no longer suffering. It was so cool of you to give her and the boys, including Southgate, some grieving time together. The pain and heartache that you guys go through to show those lucky doggos what pure love is, is quite admirable. I cannot commend you both enough for doing that. Your cabin build looks absolutely fantastic, but I still love your adorable little shed, with that wonderful siding and that kickass door, just a little more. Great job, MG! 😆
Hi Michelle. Sorry your lumber got damaged. But no one got hurt except your feelings. Was a great video. I am sure Steve will come up with a better system. Great seeing you and the hounds. Looking beautiful as always. Till next video. Be safe and happy. G
Thanks for the videos, the hard parts and trouble you went through. You and Steve have such active projects and I can only imagine the brain power/problem solving you both go through. You all juggling so much. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us. 🙋♂️🐈🐈
Gonna keep mentioning that a rail trolly at the cabin instead of that air mule would be a better long term solution. But also, sorry about all the lumber, Michy. :( It was fun watching you harvest it and Mr. Husband didn't want to listen to his wife. "Steve needs to figure out a way to fix the sky mule". lol, you must have been like, "You broke it, you bought it, dude" ;) :)
Shame the wood got damaged but I guess it's a live n learn situation! (Eg. don't risk getting hurt/take unnecessary chances! Better safe than sorry!) Like you say you can improve the system now and you'll know for the future I'm sure you can still use the wood maybe glue up/clamp the bits that are just split and that should make them useable for something whether outside or inside the cabin once it's finished!?(save wasting good timber).. Glad you're both safe mainly! Have a great week! All the best from London 👍😎🏴🇬🇧
No human or animal injuries that’s a good thing. Materialistic things can be replaced ( with patients) . When you said “ that’s to heavy” oh boy came into my thoughts , then it happened. Good to hear that everything will work out eventually. Take Care. 👍👍😊
No one died or got injured, so that’s a win… And, you now have a load of timber boards going spare down at the project…. Raised deck between the overnight shed and the new cabin…..? Some things are clear about you: (a) you’re NEVER beaten and (b) you do love a project!

I,m glad you guys didn,t get hurt.Long after your gone somebody,s going to find that cabin and scratch there heads and wonder how did somebody do this? You are truly pioneer,s.Be safe.
Pretty scary watching that sky Mule with a load of lumber flying down the mountain side. I have not seen this video yet. It was very interesting tonight to see it. When Clyde was barking when he was lost my dog woke up from her sleep and ran to the TV to check it out. Keep up the good work.
I really like Clyde. He reminds me so much of my hound Pete that I had as a boy. I spent many nights searching for him after he would go ranging off to parts unknown.
Sorry about the mishap with the sky mule. Can certainly understand your frustration. Sounds like one of those turning lemons into lemonade moments. Steve will undoubtedly come up with an improved control mechanism for the sky mule and you now have some extra unexpected firewood. As long as no one got hurt, that's the important thing.
Bonjour Steve et Michelle. what a vidéo. yikes. too much suspense for my ol' heart. I'm glad to see that no one was injured during the SkyMule mishap. double yikes. Clyde is a hound dog, and that's how he rolls. Unfortunately, stuff happens, human error or not. Learn from this error and see that it does not reproduce ever again. Many thanks for the blues guitar music. I was having a want for some chili beans and cornbread. Sure enough would be good and hot on these cold and pre-winter days. be safe you two please.
It was good to see Hannah in happier times. You’ll always have those memories to draw on. The rest of your fur babies looked all worn out Mom. We can see why with Clyde! Sorry about your troubles with the zip line and the wood. You both worked so hard on everything. Glad you both safe. Be careful lady!
This was Steve's revenge for you calling him 'dull' (and yourself 'sharp'), in the previous episode .. 😃 Joking aside: Nobody lost their life or got physical hurt, and that's what matters at the end of the day. I bet next contraption will be so much better!
Bummer. Oh well, shit happens. Mountain Life. But hey, now you've leveled up and earned some of those precious skymule experience points ! And you have a solid 'runaway load' story to tell - no point in owning a skymule if you don't have one of those. Here's hoping it's the only one. Cheers!
You did ok and dealt with the disaster and moved on. That’s the best! Love how you always stop for the old doggies and give them a caress, a pet and a kind word. I know they love you bunches. Nice the way you told them all goodnight or nap or whatever that was. And then they dream, and they are puppies again. Oh and love the music too. Sounds like a dobra. One other thing. It’s your project. As much as you love your Steve hold to your convictions on how you want things done.
Michelle and Steve the most important thing is that you are both safe and unharmed. Life has its ups and downs and not everything will always work out. The important thing is to rise above the obstacle every time, reassess the situation and learn from it. Anger will pass, then reconciliation will come. I have my fingers crossed for you and I believe that this experience will strengthen you both. Greetings from Peter from the Czech Republic.
I am a relatively new subscriber and have worried about the safety of both of you. You are both very capable and resourceful people but you are human. Be careful please!
That's cool how your cat goes on walks with you & your dogs. My niece left her cat at our house 5yrs ago (still don't know why) He prefers to stay outside to keep an eye on his domain. Any time I'm doing projects outside, he's right there with me just like a dog would do. Kinda funny he knows where & when to stay out of the way.
Thankful that you and Steve are safe and Clyde was located. Wishing you and your family a blessed autumn season, gentle weather and restful evenings in front of your fireplace. Peace princess.
That sucks that some lumber got damaged..Good to see Steve in the video even know he didn't listen lol. Awesome video and damn it's a full time job with Clide too:)
Sorry to hear that some of that hard work went down the drain.. sometimes mistakes happen. Just happy nobody got hurt ! Hope you can get some more milled up without any more setbacks. You seem like a very patient gal, he's a lucky guy! Did I mention how lucky he is ;-) ?? Keep on movin' in a positive direction and we'll be here for the next video :-)
Hello Michelle Glad to see you both are okay amd all not so much for the sky mule though. Maybe Steve can come up with a gear reduction on it and lower material down the mountain and maybe even bring materials back up it. As far as your dogs goes Poor ole Clyde seems to get lost very easily these days guess that's something you will just have to live with bless his soul He really loves you both an wouldhate to see him get lost or maybe even hurt himself. I pray that you can get everything done too as winter arrives soon. Far as the materials goes thank god for all the trees and someone like you who loves her sawmill can do the work in replacing what you have lost. looking out for your next video and hope you get it the way you want it. Looks Cozy place to stay in just don't sleep walk . LoL 😂 😂
Smooth seas never made a skillful mariner. Also, when we are passionate about a project, it's really easy to be deceived by a pace subject to time constraint and obstacle. Careful safety first mindset, sometimes slowing down is exactly what we need to gain traction and compound progress. Great honest video. It would be the worst to see you, Steve or any of the dogs get hurt. Keep up all this great work is such amazing environment!
Well I have to say, I wasn't home sick until I saw the pups running about, in grande prairie and My pups ai in edmonton, only 2+ weeks and another week to go before I get to see them spinning on a dime when I walk in the door. Dang sad about the mule and lumber, however disaster is the mother of invention and upgrades. Glad no one is hurt, aside from feelings. Sure hope you've received a vase of your fav flowers. "Usually helps my honey with her feelings" along with a double stack of salted caramel chocolate bars.
beautiful intro.... Your tribe of K-9's are beautiful..So sorry for the mishap with your "MULE" .. I know you guys are always super cautious... Glad you weren't hurt....
Wow! I'm just glad neither of you got hurt while using the sky mule. Materials can be replaced but you can't. Hope Steve found a good solution to repair it. Hope all are safe and sound and see you in the next video. 🫂🍂🍁🪶🐕🐕🐕🐕
Hey dearest Michygoss , wonderful to see the four legged gang, Lenny ,Hannah and the Snow Patrol all together as they were. Stay frosty, love you both xrogxiowxukx🇨🇦🇬🇧🇺🇦😎
Least you have a nice warm doghouse if Steve was in Bad books :) Joking aside Least no one got hurt and yeah i'm sure the mule will benefit from some improvements . Loved seeing the dogs having a lotta fun on the trails
One CAT! Two or B: In my work (emergency medicine) any day that doesn't involve injury or a trip to the ED is a good day. Stuff is replaced. New boards made and the experiences are learning opportunities. Well done!
Sorry to hear about your skylift issues. At least no one got hurt. That spinning hose reel could do some real damage. That would be a sad sight to see tears coming from those beautiful blue eyes.
Famous last words, "I told you so"? Go easy on Steve. At least no one was hurt, and an opportunity for a new and improved zip line. Would love to hear someone mix slide guitar with hound song, and maybe a banjo and a bowed saw blade.
Hello Both! A similar set up for the skymule, but with a gear and chain to regulate speed, dependant on load, would be where my layman's mind would venture here. As an added bonus, a motor could be added to retract the mule up to the start point. Doing great, and yes, that damaged wood can be part salvaged for a privy or elsewhere, so glass half full. Onwards and upwards, never deterred. 👌🙂
Wow! Well done. Thank you for a really good job of putting together a video to tell the story. So glad nobody got hurt. When energy gets out of control, it can have tragic consequences. This retired engineer is looking forward to seeing what Steve comes up with to improve the Sky Mule. I have to say, the Sky Mule has had some pretty amazing moments - getting that door down there undamaged being one of them. That was nothing short of amazing.
This video although sad and funny was very creative. You opened with "am I a librarian or a lumber jill?", with your glasses to a very stressful and scary situation. Most importantly no one got hurt and oh yeah GPS found your puppy too! I keep looking forward to each video!
Sorry to see this happened to you (Michy Bunyan) ! I can see that you are quite emotional and upset about it. Most importantly nobody was hurt! Keep up the good videos. Have a Happy Canadian Thanksgiving! Oops it has passed.
Thank you so much for posting this. Things do go wrong and it's how we learn. The incident somehow makes the project and your outstanding tenacity all the more awesome and required viewing. So glad no one hurt.
Michelle and Steve, you are tough characters for sure. Seems like you're always pushing the limits. I mean it looked good on paper but.......!!!!!! Looking forward to the next episode. Your cat just cracks me up! Thanks for Sharing!
Well there's almost always a silver lining to every bad situation. At least you know your limitations now, and there's always room for improvment, and necessity is the mother of invention.
Omg what an adventure that one was ! Thank god no one got hurt ! Lumber got smashed up at the bottom , that’s bad enough ! Hopefully you can repair your winch at the top ! That was not fun !
I'm looking forward to seeing what Steve comes up with on the return line for the SkyMule now, and very surprised he thought at the time that amount of weight could just be let go without controlling it's decent, on what was the current setup. Live and learn...and think he knows better now! I'm especially thankful for you now, on how the sliding glass door got down the mountain, and the controlled decent by you during that. I love your outlook on things once the smoke cleared in this situation, and wonder if Steve will give your thoughts/ideas, during things like this, more thought/consideration in the future? **fingers crossed** Stay safe y'all...and Clyde please wonder closer to Mom and Dad in the future!
You live and exciting, fulfilling and sometimes stressful life. I’m happy to hear that the sky mule wasn’t a loss. Under certain circumstances, the glasses are a big yes.
Sorry to hear about Hannah. You do some dangerous activities and I often wonder if your going to get hurt. I've taken calculated risks myself over the years but I still would rather live life on the edge over living the ultra safe life. Your videos are always interesting and amazing. Keep safe!
Bummer but I'm sure Steve will fix it and will be back up and running. Just glad nobody was hurt. Hey, the slide guitar sounds like Justin Johnson. Amazing guitarest for slide and blues on TH-cam
I'm glad nobody was hurt. Even though it was unfortunate, that aspect of the sky mule definitely needed a safety upgrade. And remember...continue the prOcess of being great, Michelle!
My wife and I joke that our baseline level of success for any joint project is "No one got murdered". Everything beyond that is gravy. Sorry you were working at the baseline that time! ;-p
Hello from Oklahoma! Interesting Video! Too Bad the whole sky mule thing wasn't captured on video. It would be cool to know what ol' Clyde is trailin' out there. Surely there are tracks. Being an old hound man I'm curious. I've had walkers before they are good hounds. Thanks for all Y'all do! God Bless!
I know - I think I turned it off (although I still don’t really fully remember what happened) as I knew things were going to be horrendous. I was trying to run away and telling Steve to get out of the way. Last thing I remember was seeing him jumping to get away from it. Haha
Sorry for the skymule mishap, but I started watching your channel when I was looking for sawmill videos. This means more cutting!! Glass half full kinda thing!😁
I'm glad everybody is ok. Things happen, and we learn, move on and rebuild. On an unrelated note. I held out for the longest time from trying diesel as a saw lube, but I won't be going back. It works incredibly, and you only need a very tiny drip, unlike water or any other mixed fluids I've tried. The saw blades are as clean as they are coming out of the box brand new. And there is a light oil film on them which keeps them from rusting. I had thought the smell of the fuel would be bad, but you can't even smell it on the lumber. Admittedly, my clothes smelled a bit like diesel, but not bad at all really.
Well, everyone survived. Which counts as a bit of a miracle! I'm glad you didn't kill Steve, but maiming is still an option. Perhaps the Skymule improvements will redeem him...
Fairly new subscriber here, though been watching for awhile. Currently one of my favorite channels. You are quite impressive Michy! Always amazed at what you take on👍. Sorry about this mishap, but can’t wait to see Steve’s improved repair. Your cabin build on the mountain side is simply incredible and very interesting to watch.
💚 No nap required. I'm sure there will be next week as you share the mill with us. Enjoy Your Journey. I AM...
Love your videos Michelle, never a dull moment, not problems just plenty of challenges, keep up the good work
Woman, you are a 1 of a kind. Happy, happy, joy, joy.
I really like Clyde. He reminds me so much of my hound Pete that I had as a boy. I spent many nights searching for him after he would go ranging off to parts unknown.
So do I . Gf had a walker for many yrs.
It’s almost a full time job looking for him! But I will lovingly do it again and again cuz it makes him so happy to be able to follow his passion!
@@michygoss7148 Have spent many hrs looking for dogs( hounds ) in city parks and in the wilderness. They love to follow scents.
I always love the background music you select. It always seems to fit with what you're feeling.
Mmmmm, chilli beans and cornbread! 😋
Joking aside: Nobody lost their life or got physical hurt, and that's what matters at the end of the day.
I bet next contraption will be so much better!
It reminded me of a runaway anchor chain on a Navy ship. Careful Michelle, great videos. Orange County California
Bummer. Oh well, shit happens. Mountain Life. But hey, now you've leveled up and earned some of those precious skymule experience points !
And you have a solid 'runaway load' story to tell - no point in owning a skymule if you don't have one of those. Here's hoping it's the only one. Cheers!
Oh wow, what a stressful day. Sorry this happened to you all, but I’m thankful you both are safe.
I hate when stuff goes wrong but you learned something to minimize bad stuff happening again. I’m way prepared because I wasn’t in the past.
If only everyone knew just how much I snuggle them all! (It’s almost ridiculous! 😂)
@@michygoss7148 I am sure you do! Love’em up!!!
A whole lot of honesty there as usual...and a lot of hard work!...all that solo timber framing!!!
I am a relatively new subscriber and have worried about the safety of both of you. You are both very capable and resourceful people but you are human. Be careful please!
Michelle, Thats one way to get a little help improving the SkyMule. Im glad your both safe!!!
Knowing that Steve is an engineer I'm sure he will come up with a much safer solution for the repair on the sky mule. 🙏💪
Good to see you are all OK. Keep up your resolve with the projects.
Put an automotive disc brake on the spool.
Well said!
Safety first , always. At least no injuries. He should a have listened to you . Take care you will recover.
beautiful intro....
Such a bummer, And terrifying. I bet Steve felt horrible. At least in the end you're going to have a really improved delivery system.
Hey dearest Michygoss , wonderful to see the four legged gang, Lenny ,Hannah and the Snow Patrol all together as they were. Stay frosty, love you both xrogxiowxukx🇨🇦🇬🇧🇺🇦😎
Don’t despair gang, help may be on the way. Emigration to Canada has re opened . Maybe ! Just maybe ! xrogxiowxukx🇨🇦🇬🇧🇺🇦😎
Could be a blessing in disguise. Maybe Steve will come up with a really slick new iteration of the sky mule system (The pressure is on Steve)
Everything happens for a reason. Blessing in disguise for sure - things are now safer 👍
I have often wondered how people know what kind of wood they are using now I know they sniff it!! Good luck with your Zip-Line.
Thanks for Sharing!
im sorry about the skyline failure. but im very glad you two werent hurt. i absolutely love your choice of music in your videos!! take care friends!
Erm whoops! Kinda feeling your pain. There was no way of stopping that safely once it started to run.
Work safe. Good luck going forward.
Yes the smoke cleared and you are on your way 💖
You live and exciting, fulfilling and sometimes stressful life.
Keep safe!
We’re no strangers to danger! 😂
Bummer but I'm sure Steve will fix it and will be back up and running. Just glad nobody was hurt. Hey, the slide guitar sounds like Justin Johnson. Amazing guitarest for slide and blues on TH-cam
Im glad you and Steve and your babies are all good, so sorry for the set back and next time, make Steve listen to you… lol!!!
I am sorry for you that your zip line is damaged and I am relieved that there are no injuries. Stay safe Michelle. Take care of yourself ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️💋
2 things: 1). super glad I found this channel 2). I love your heart for your dogs.
Love your videos but so sorry about the sky mule and all the work you lost but none of you were hurt which is a blessing!
Love the choice of slide blues. That’s a Robert Johnson take off of Last Fair Deal Gone Down. Which is appropriate for your poor trolley.
Michelle, perhaps it's lucky you didn't run with my idea of going down the zip line haha
About the time that reel on the sky mule started humming I would have been throwing out an endless stream of bad words. Hope it rebuilds quickly
I do look forward to, and enjoy your posts. Just to affirm your efforts 🙂
Thank you!
