Wood splitting hint: Don't strike in the middle of the log! Make it at the nearer (closer to you) at the edge. That way you don't get the handle mixed in, and you have better leverage for splitting the log. Also, very much enjoyed the bear scratching his/her back with the tree!
Thank you Levi Strauss for making firewood so enjoyable .. 😜 who doesnt like Hogans Heroes ?? .. one of the all time favorites ...that trail camera footage with the bears was amazing
Shamrock Spiders are quite easy to train...just feed them a Grasshopper or Stink Bug once a week....and enjoy old style yarn spinning dexterity.....LOL !!
Definitely show more of Steve, he's hilarious and naughty. I would love to see you do a video on the cabin and how it has settled over time since construction. I would like to see the dovetails, log spaces, checking, openings and what went right or wrong or what would you do differently. Cheers Michelle
I think it's great to see Steve in your videos, he is your husband so to see that love between the two of you once in a while really makes your videos more family oriented. Steve seems like a great guy.
What a lovely couple you and Steve make. You're kind and considerate of one another. Even though it may not be Steve's thing to be on camera, I enjoy seeing him and the knowledge he brings to your channel. I know you like splitting wood but they make a bit for your drill that makes it a cinch for times when you don't 😀 As always, I enjoy all you do on your channel. Thanks for taking us along to the beauty of British Columbia and the sweetness of the pups. Prayers for dear Hannah 🙏
It's nice to see the both of you working on things together and I truly enjoy all your fur-babies along with the Beautiful scenery. Stay Safe and Enjoy
A few years ago I could chop wood like Steve, run drywall with a guy half my age, but I got lazy and my health has suffered. Steve is à testament to health and Hogan's heros
love the channel... i am 70 yrs old now, wish i would have done what you guys are doing back when i was 25.. ty for sharing with us much love and prayers from SE Texas Bear.......
Great to see Steve in front of the camera. He seems to really enjoy it and you can see he was loving going fast on the boat. The dynamics and teamwork you guys have is awesome. I think he should start in your videos a bit more :)
Morning Michelle. There is a stink bug trap you can make. It consists of a plastic drink bottle, you cut the top to make a funnel that you flip upside down and attach it to its base. Before attaching, put inside a led light that has the on off switch on the actual light part, you can get packs of 3 at any hardware store. Now use masking tape the two bottle parts together and use duct tape at the bottom of the bottle to make that area dark to hide the light about 2 inches high. Also make a masking tape bridge from the top to the bottom it's so the bugs can climb up, fall down or climb down the funnel and get trapped inside. The stink bugs are attracted to light. Turn the led light on with a pencil that way you don't need to open up the bottle. Best of luck
Sure, bring more Steve on! Judging by the lives you live, Steve has done right by you. It’s time for him to sit back a little and let you do right by him. Steve, support her endeavor! She’s got a following that will continue to grow! You can retire and enjoy days filming your wife doing the tough work! You earned it! And she likes it!
Absolutely love too see more of BIG Steve. you guy’s are great !! And the trail camera footage was awesome and I am truly impressed with your carpentry skills you’re very crafty and have a gorgeous home! And thank you so much for sharing it is truly enjoyed and appreciated! See you on the next one
So much hard work and love has made you guys a wonderful life, thank you for sharing. Always fun to see Steve, it's fun to see the engineering side and how he problem solves. Awesome trail cam video too!
Nice scenario all around...great woman companion...knows how to work...dogs to spoil,..."for Steve...less-toil". Man planned his retirement...very, very well.
Really enjoyed watching your team effort in getting your firewood supply renewed. Great hard working lifestyle you chose comes with great rewards with your enviable surroundings and animals & pets you share it with. 👍👍👍
I like Steve, He's a funny guy. I'm sure he could always pass on some knowledge for us viewers. Plus I love the banter and kidding around that goes on between you two.
It is good to see the whole gang for sure, more a team really. I'm glad I'm not the only person who enjoys splitting wood, people always think I' m weird. My grandfather always used to tell me that you get a lot of heat from wood. First when you cut it and haul it, again when you split and stack then finally when you burn it. Thank you for sharing another chunk of your life with us! Looking forward to the next.
My dad, brother and cousin would collect standing and fallen dead wood in our lake lot around Kamloops. We would. The smaller timber in 8-12ft logs and just roll them down hill to our wood shed. I liked doing. This chore. We used splitting mauls and doubled headed axes. We always had enough for two cabins to burn throughout winter. Pine and fir smell great!
Bonjour Steve et Michelle what an action-packed episode. back scratching bear, deer, a team effort on the wood cutting and splitting, a boat ride on the lake and happy doggies. a little work, a little vacation time. Hogan Hero's was the bomb back in the day. thanks for sharing 'this is us' the real deal vidéo. hard work and a cool beverage afterwards!! cheers enjoy your holiday.
Michelle, it is fun watching you two work together. I guess we're all getting ready for Winter. It takes so much effort! I guess we don't know if Steve wants to be a TH-cam Rock Star or not. We'll keep watching to see. Thanks for Sharing!
More of the dynamic duo. You two have a great rapport, which is great to see. If you have never heard of The Timber Framing Guild, you should check them out.
Great content, but Steve needs a vise for sharpening the saw. A sharp saw is a must and it makes quick work of any cut you make. Love seeing the whole family (dogs included) working and playing together. Jay from Pa.
Love your content...always. Including Steve only brings another element to what you already do, so yes, include him more. I appreciate his somewhat "dry" sense of humor, you compliment each other well! Lenny has worked his way right in to your pack. His digging abilities are amazing, hope you can keep him clear of the rocks. I can't believe he was able to make the cavern that he did. Thanks for sharing!
Enjoyed it! Surely seeing more Steve is a good thing. Who knew that watching a couple make firewood would keep me entertained for 25 minutes? Take care.
What a crazy question ❓ Of course we want to see Steve very mysterious 😅 . But seriously I have to say it is up to him. As always good luck and God Bless.
Y'all are wonderful. What a beautiful place you have there. More Steve? Pfft. Just kidding, like seeing Steve. I say more Michelle. Like in the lake swimming. You are a rockstar. Peace and Love y'all, Tim
Wait. In Steve's defense, Hogan's Heros is essential to a person's well being. I am sure there is work to do, but Hogan's Heros will put Steve's mind right and the overall productivity will increase.
Through some other video, I’ve learned that using a shorter stump for splitting would gives your axe head longer to travel and generate downward force. I think if you lowered your hit point 6-8 inches; you’d notice a difference. Fun Vid!
Also a portable option, using a section of rope small knots spaced out for adjustment points, a prusik knot, black rubber bungee for tension. Basically safer, and reduces the wasted energy of chasing and remount the wood. You start with a bundled cluster.
Just a suggestion on saving your back, Get an old car tire and put on top of the wood base.. from inside the tire drive a few lag bolt or screws with washers into the wood below.. Place piece u want to split into the center of tire... This allows you to split wood and not have the split pieces land on the ground...
Hey guys, I found an awesome tool for wood splitting, it looks like a cross between a splitting maul and wood splitting axe. It’s made by Fiskers but the axe head has wings for the lack of a better description that spreads the wood apart. It’s lighter than the maul and you don’t have to swing it so hard. Best wishes, good luck.
Hello Michelle. I know the plastic wedges would be nice to have, but until you get some, a person with your abilities could make some out of the hardest wood available. If there happen to be a door hinge that was not being used, the pin could be pulled and screw the halves into two wedges to prevent splitting for a few uses. Have good days!
My 5 year old cat Cassie loves to be hugged. She sits on the arm of my recliner and I put her front paws in my left hand and hug her and she doesn't want me to stop. Then I ask her for kisses and she rubs noses with me. I am allergic to cats but love wins out allergies every time. It is very nice to see Steve in your videos. The way you paint it Steve only watches Hogan's Hero's.
Recommendations? I promise a hydraulic log splitter still provides plenty of opportunity for exercise and more time for other things. You'll find it makes quick work of kindling also. I preferred to use it vertically. It's easier to maneuver a log into place instead of lifting, especially the xl pieces. Just make sure your glove tips are clear when using the splitter. Happy trails and hot tubbing, you two.
Wood splitting hint: Don't strike in the middle of the log! Make it at the nearer (closer to you) at the edge. That way you don't get the handle mixed in, and you have better leverage for splitting the log.
Also, very much enjoyed the bear scratching his/her back with the tree!

Shamrock Spiders are quite easy to train...just feed them a Grasshopper or Stink Bug once a week....and enjoy old style yarn spinning dexterity.....LOL !!
And that Mini-x is a great back saver....just grab that tree, by the wood shed, waist high...and start bucking....I am lazy though. LOL !!
Definitely show more of Steve, he's hilarious and naughty. I would love to see you do a video on the cabin and how it has settled over time since construction. I would like to see the dovetails, log spaces, checking, openings and what went right or wrong or what would you do differently. Cheers Michelle
Beautiful blue eyes, and a lady who can build anything. ♥️
A couple of full days work. What beautiful filming. Nice to see the 2 of you, a all of the doggies. ( and kitty).
Glad to be along 🙋♂️🐈🐈
Envy the life you, Steve and all your animals live. Best to all of you...

How much wood can Michelle chuck wood?.. great work..
Amen to that! Hope you're enjoying the fall weather. Best, R
this is fantastic
Like what you produce. I think you are the project goddess. Thanks for posting.
You guys are living the dream. So good to see a loving couple working together.
Great to see Steve! Birch in log length will stay very wet. Even sawed to stove length it dries very slowly unless it is spilt.
Great video Michy. Y'all take care and have a blessed week and I'll see you on your next video
always enjoy seeing Steve he is part of who you are and that is a great team indeed - you two rock with the help of a kitty and
a couple pups
It’s very nice to see Steve in the videos.
Thank you.

Of course you're the main Character of the movie, but Steve makes a good sidekick... (after the dogs of course)

Awesome trail cam video too!
I so enjoyed watching you split that firewood. So many chords I’ve split and stacked, it was nice to sit back and watch someone else do it.
It's always a pleasure watching you work in these beautiful surroundings Michy but sure, why not have the other half of the team on camera too.
Steve watching Hogan's Heros - classic! I knew I liked that guy!
Love seeing Steve .Thanks for your time.
Nice scenario all around...great woman companion...knows how to work...dogs to spoil,..."for Steve...less-toil".
Man planned his retirement...very, very well.
Steve's the man for the job. Plus more dogs please.

So true! Love that!
Get it big Steve! My favorite axwoman in the while world ☺

I don't believe you ever have any time off!😄 That bear scratching it's back made me laugh 😂. Great seeing Steve swinging that axe 🪓💪🏻
Yes! I like to see you both! More Steve!
Hope you have a lot of firewood for the winter. You are such a hard working woman! Many would not take on all you achieve. Stay at it and BUILD..
Wish I was Clyde! Hope steve recovers from that attempt to split some wood. Love your videos.
It would be good to see both of you equally. The two of you seem to be unique and interesting.
Michelle, it is fun watching you two work together. I guess we're all getting ready for Winter. It takes so much effort! I guess we don't know if Steve wants to be a TH-cam Rock Star or not. We'll keep watching to see. Thanks for Sharing!
Great video, I never thought I would be so entertained by watching two people split fire wood. Yes more Steve is good. Till next time be safe.
More of the dynamic duo. You two have a great rapport, which is great to see. If you have never heard of The Timber Framing Guild, you should check them out.

Jeez Paula Bunyon you are impressive. Working like that it won’t take you long to fill up your woodshed. Hope all is well with you.
Michy te felicito, manejas muy bien el acha para cortar esa madera.- Saludos desde La Rioja Argentina.-
Y'all are wonderful. What a beautiful place you have there. More Steve? Pfft. Just kidding, like seeing Steve. I say more Michelle. Like in the lake swimming. You are a rockstar.

Great blog great couple fantastic pets.

Yeah you’re probably right. I had a shorter stump but it rotted out. I’ll cut this one down 👍
I like to stand on the uphill side, too, whenever I can.
Theres the old trick about using a tyre on the stump to stop the wood flying off so should save alot of bending over.
10/4 that suggestion!
Also a portable option, using a section of rope small knots spaced out for adjustment points, a prusik knot, black rubber bungee for tension. Basically safer, and reduces the wasted energy of chasing and remount the wood. You start with a bundled cluster.
Love love your videos. Reminds me of our times in the past at our cabin in OldForge, NY (Adirondack Park) much like your area.
Gonna call you "Lightning" ... never strikes twice in the same place (:-)
😂
Your certainly the TH-cam , "Go Getter Gal " Keep on Keeping on . !
My back hurts just watching you split wood..... lol Yes, more of Steve!!
Love all the fur babies and yes Steve, let’s see more of him
Great video once again, you both embrace your tasks with gusto. Long may it continue!
Always good to see Steve.
Just a suggestion on saving your back, Get an old car tire and put on top of the wood base.. from inside the tire drive a few lag bolt or screws with washers into the wood below.. Steve's the Man. Yes, fun to watch!
More Steve!!!! Seems like a cool guy!!!
It's always a blessing to collect firewood near your cabin. Enjoying Steve working with you that's awesome. 🙏🦾
Yes Steve is Awesome 👍 like how happy he is driving boat

Steve's Ax swinging is very naughty indeed ... What power !!!
Love the video. Thanks. Firewood is a tuff job cutting but someone has to do it. Take care Michy and be safe with that axe please. ❤️😊👋🙏
Ok,matter,s not that u didn't have,u knew saw horse's are useful, now ease of work can proceed 😉,neva burn what is useful ", blessings Wes ❤️❤️🤠

Yeah, both of you are making a life out there, so send out the husband .😃👍
Yes Steve would be a great addition to your Chanel. The both of you are very funny
I hope Steve knows how lucky he is!!! Not because you’re beautiful and hard working. But because you let him watch Hogan’s Heroes.
I love your Levi's . 🌹 . You are my favorite WHO .
It's awesome seeing and having Steve in the video steve is a awesome 👌
