@@michygoss7148 I have adopted many rescued Bassets. Scent hounds will catch a scent and track for days... which is how most become rescues. They will track so far and can't smell their way back home. I do worry about Clyde with so many big cats around though. Be blessed, stay safe, and big woofs from the South Carolina Low Country.

Here's a neat gift idea for Steve (and yourself as well). I carry a Leatherman Rebar (under $100 US), and I am never without it. Believe it or not, the saw will cut through 1" pvc pipe easier than that saw Steve was using, and it has a file, both phillips and flat blade screw drivers, a leather pawl, can opener, and needle nose pliers with wire cutter. It is the best made multitool I have ever used (and I've had a few). Great video! 👍
When I pulled him from the SPCA, I began truck training him right away so he would be used to going wherever we went. He spent a month and a week straight on the sailboat sailing around Vancouver island! And he learned how to swim too! 😂🤭

I love the cold plunges! I have been doing daily ice cold plunges since I was 20 years old. I am 70 years old now, and couldn't imagine life without them.
I know!!! They are absolutely amazing and I look forward to them every time o go out there. I imagine doing them daily like you are would have such amazing health benefits!
@@michygoss7148 Yes, the health benefits are amazing. I have always worked out since I was 12 years old, and can still perform sprints. My resting heart rate is only about 40-50 beats per minute. The cold plunges help to create brown fat and release hormones that last almost all day. I feel superhuman after.

We were prepared to go back to the cabin to grab lights and supplies if we couldn’t get to him before dark - we would do whatever it took to get him home safely. Steve and I are so lucky to have one another because we are the same that way!

Loved this little snow-free interlude. I laughed when you said you were about to cook dinner then it looked like a couple of cans of dog food!! Clyde takes boyz'll-be-boyz to the fully obvious hound limit and loves it. He's a lucky guy you two "get him". I have 2 1/2 feet of snow here & more on the way so my hound Beulah plows through it as long as she wants then snuggles extra close to my wood stove.

When I was a small boy I wanted a dog so my dad bought me a beagle puppy. Thinking he would kill two birds with one stone. He would get a hunting dog , and I a new friend, but even after he grew up the minute his nose hit the ground we would spend the rest of the weekend trying to find him. ( No GPS back then.) They both are long gone now , but the memory is as fresh as yesterday. Thanks for the reminder. Pic .
Lol. Boy do I know that feeling! Days upon days, countless hours, have been spent looking for Clyde (with and without the GPS). But there’s always a silver lining, and for us it’s that we got (had) to explore terrain around both of our properties (no man’s land) that we would have never seen before, so we are thankful for that. We will continue to do it lovingly because we love the little guy so much, and want him to be able to experience his life to the fullest. 💝

In my youth I met a Finnish family in Der UP Eh! We took a Sauna. A first for me. Then we all jumped right into Lake Superior. I never did befor either. Even on the hottest day of the year Lake Superior is only 8° so I always kind of eased into it. But that day I dove in head first and it felt great after all that sweating. Thank you for sharing a slice of your personal paradise. It brought back the memory of my experience. ben
With that big cat making it's presence known you may want to start keeping a better tab on Clyde and or carrying a hand cannon just in case you have a run in with the big woods kitty. The hot tub looks very inviting but I can't say the same for the lake...Lol
Yeah, Clyde took off the second we landed on shore, and didn’t know about the cat yet. Once we got Clyde that first night, and saw all the cat evidence the following morning, we kept him from taking off and everyone was ‘grounded’, so-to-speak.

Southgate's a super cat he just fits in! Like Steve, I love Hogan's Heroes and know all about the power and solar stuff, having worked in the hydro electric industry years ago, so good to see the batteries fully charged simmering away at float voltage! You sure are a tough cookie soaking in that freezing lake! I think I'd cope with just the hot tub. I always look forward to a "Michy Movie Monday" down here in NZL. The boat ride over there was a bit rough, but the inflatable boat handles it very well. It’s why we have that boat vs a ‘tinner’ (stability). What’s hard about the rough water is loading and unloading the boat in the water (which we usually do from a beach, not that boat launch we were at). But we manage!
It looks amazing there, if a bit frigid. One word of caution, your Axe Handle looks like it's started to split, so might want to replace it before the Head comes flying off from the Shaft.
In the AZ desert mountain lions always close have had them on the roof . One night I parked pickup . Next mountain lion jumps on truck roof then the bed of trk next to the ground. Then ran into the dark of nite. Just shows the lions are anywhere !

In the AZ desert mountain lions always close have had them on the roof . One night I parked pickup . Next mountain lion jumps on truck roof then the bed of trk next to the ground. Then ran into the dark of nite. Just shows the lions are anywhere !

Each hike we went on (especially up to the cliff cabin site) I had my head up looking in the trees the whole time.
@@michygoss7148 u know the cougar jumps the furthest . All great cats have their own specialty’s. Good to have dogs with always ,cats don’t hang around . Good luck there !
