I know this piece for the past twenty years. I consider the Borodin Trio’s interpretation as the definitive but you guys play it beautifully too. Thank you.
Am I the only one on earth, who doesn't get distracted by such things?!? As a non-fan of Rock, I have to hand it to their concerts, whereby the audience is INTO things, not distracted? Let the first one who has never had to cough or sneeze throw the first stone ! Same with wrong notes...any throwers of the first stone?
Felicidades. No era fácil. Rachmaninoff se está convirtiendo a pasos de gigante en uno de mis compositores favoritos. Sus sinfonías son geniales, sus conciertos para piano también.
Theres one even slower done by the Russian trio group: trio Borodin! Research Trio Borodin Rachmaninoff Trio Elegiaque no 1. That is a more even tempo performance, I mean this isn't bad but it could be better. Btw, I'm learning how to play the piano part now, so dont say I can't judge! But I think they master it around 7:44-8:40!
Amazingly well-tuned piano with upper octaves lacking the tierce sound of a smaller scale grand....this performance/sonority of the instruments matches the skill of these players; what a great recording......
This is just wonderful. Thank you all so much! I was unfamiliar with this gorgeous early work of Rachmaninov. I'm glad I discovered it through your sensitive, beautiful performance.
In my opinion, this is one of the best versions of the song.....The speed, the emotion and the intensity with which they performed it is the most fiiting to the song....that's just my opinion though and i cannot judge their technique as i do not have any experience with playing an instrument...
I hope I'm not a heretic for calling it a cello… but I digress, the violoncello, as you call it, is absolutely gut wrenching with it's beauty. That's not to say that the violin and piano (and their respective players) don't care a similar reaction, but I have a special place in my heart for cello :) thank you so much for your performance.
Beautiful performance; I had never heard this stunning work before. It reminds me very much of Brahms' chamber music (which I mean as high praise), and it's amazing that it was composed by a 19-year-old Rachmaninoff.
GREAT!! Not only Rach's piece, of course, but your interpretation! It goes straight to the listener's heart and soul! This was one of the aims of the Master himself, wasn't it? Well, you achieve it brilliantly! It may seem a bit unfair to single out one member of such a distinguished and well integrated Trio, but (fully recognizing the great quality of Aleksandr and Anastasia's performances ), may I be permitted to draw the atention to Marie-Thaïs cello in this rendering? Keep up the good work!
you are probably either some one mother (of this Trio), and musician or a tutor. The tree of them feel each other enough with a marrow bone:). I would say that it recorded with not enough microphones and therefore the sound of piano more direct, more open, instead of being round.
Yes, “ACH DU LIEBER, MEIN SCHATZ”! Gorgeous piece of music & wonderful performance! So short compared to the TRIO #2! The girl turning the piano music, I believe she also turned the pages for Lugansky on the Trio #2 also, although she was a lot “thinner” then!! With all the “turmoil” of the Russian/Ukrainian war, who can deny though that probably the greatest composers & performers of all time were probably Russian!!! For ME, it’s Rachmaninov!!! ALL of his music stirs my heart greatly!!! The Russian performers today must have a very very heavy heart at what Putin has done to ruin (almost!) the tremendous legacy of the Russian musical spirit! I hurt so much for them!!! Not all the Russian people though follow Putin & his killers! God bless the Ukrainian people & their fight for freedom!!!!!
Very beautifully played indeed. Avidly waiting for more trios from Emerald. Bravo! P.S: Where are the second and fourth movements of the Brahms No.1? Missing them:)
Great performance! The best interpretation!:)) Btw I'm going to play this piece, what edition's score did you use? It's pretty hard to find,I can't find the store sells..:(
Thank you so much from all of us! It was our first performance together as a group,so to say inaugural. We look forward for more.
This is one of the first pieces my trio is learning and will be part of our inaugural performance too, if we have one!
can feel the madness within the melody that i love of this peace
Magical music, and wonderful musicians! Che bel canto!
Thank you all again for expressing your positive thoughts and feelings!
The passion exemplified by the piano player is absolutely astounding!!!!
I love Rachmaninoff he touches my soul
I know this piece for the past twenty years. I consider the Borodin Trio’s interpretation as the definitive but you guys play it beautifully too. Thank you.
Thank you for your comment. Yes, the Borodin Trio is fantastic!
@@vilniusviolin Your trio, Emerald, is at the same level as the Borodin one. When I listen this piece to, I rather choose the Emerald Piano Trio.
@@gonzalovaldivia3835 Thank you. It means a lot.
I'm crazy about this composition.. ♥

Agreed. Much better than the 2nd. This one is an actual trio and not just a piano solo piece with contingent violin and cello ornamentation.
@@robertcaldwell910 what the hell are you blabbering about
So beautiful! I can't stop listening to this song!
Thank you.
Me too. It's such a pleasure to listen to. In these hectic times, it's like medicine for the soul.
Felicidades. No era fácil. Rachmaninoff se está convirtiendo a pasos de gigante en uno de mis compositores favoritos. Sus sinfonías son geniales, sus conciertos para piano también.
Stunning performance with FINALLY the right slow tempo! Probably the second best on TH-cam, after the Borodin Trio.
Thank you! That means a lot!

This is still the best version in all of TH-cam
What a gorgeous performance by musicians who complement each other beautifully!
Thank you very much for sharing your feelings!
for me this is one of the most beautiful rachmaninov's pieces. the execution is brilliant.
Many thanks.

Beautiful playing but the piano is in the background and I'd love to see a little communication between performers.

1st movement, so-so
2nd movement, very fine
3rd movement, better than many big-name Trios including the Beaux Arts.
Thanks!

Very nice performance. Where was this recorded? The sound carries well.
Thank you! Recorded in a church in Dallas,TX.
Really love this version but the coughs and other noise really irritate me when im trying to relax to it.
Relax. Focus on the music instead of listening for the occasional cough.
more piano!!!!!!!
