its funny how these old games have INFINETLY more soul than most today AAA titles
They were allowed to be creative. I think a problem the game industry and movie industry have now is that they are these massive productions so a silly little game like this could never be made today because they’d throw way to much money at it and expect it to succeed which means cutting corners
@@creed8712 also these companies don't want to take risk. They use what's popular and proven because they want every game to appeal to the widest possible audience, not realizing that most of these mechanics started in niche games.
Dark souls combat was a niche that became popular, and now it's overused.
These old games are a little goofier, that's all 😁 not better than the AAA titles!

yep. no day one patches. very few cutscenes. light humor and doesn't take itself seriously at all. i love this era of games 🤠
Cool story about this game.
I was 15 when this game came out. I was a regular up at my local Gamestop (as was any gamer back in the day) the manager of the store was about to leave to go to manage another store. I was in two weeks before this game was supposed to come out. He said "here take this demo and tell me what you think when you come back." Well I was playing it and about TWO HOURS into the game I was like.... ummm I don't think this is a demo!? Turns out he gave me the store copy ( on purpose) such a awesome game. I loved every second of that game.

Can confirm. This game was my favorite game when I was a kid. Probably the first game I ever played with legit voice acting and style. Such a timeless game.
This game was close to perfection. The story. The gameplay. It was so simple and so much fun. Imagine if it had multi player? Haha.
18 years later and it still looks better than Redfall.
My grandma rented this game for me at blockbuster for a single weekend. I played it nonstop. Never even beat it and it has lived rent free in my head ever since. Every year I'm like I should go finish it, but something always comes up and pulls me away.
Oh man you gotta finish it. It has such a great story that definitely catches you off guard. The game gets better as you find out the twist of the game.

this game and the other oddworld games were the pinnacle of my childhood
i remember beating the game on the og xbox for the first time while i was still in kindergarten i still look back extremely fondly on all the oddworld games but this one is special to me and even holds deeper meaning to me as an adult.
Stranger, Abe, and Munch will always have a place in my heart just like the brutal yet comedic world they inhabit
Found this gem at a yard sale many many years ago, I remember spending probably too much time with it, but I wouldn't change it for the world
This game deserves a remake/sequel so bad. Nonetheless it’s still an incredible game by itself.
Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee was my introduction to the Oddworld games, loved it as a kid
Imagine my surprise that this underrated gem of a game is from a lineup of platformers that often times are more puzzle based. Just got back to replaying to do all achievements and it's still as great as ever.
I would have loved to play this game right now. It's a shame games like these aren't around any more.
Emulation is your friend. You can have this game literally in minutes.
It's also on steam.
It also got a hd port to ps4 and xbox one, not sure about next gen, probably though

My dad refers to every cat we’ve owned as Fuzzles. A lot of gems were lost time time that had the unfortunate fate of being released around Halo in its prime.

Played through this again a year ago or so and it was still really fun, worth a playthrough on steam even to this day. Sometimes gameplay was so well designed it really be timeless.

Started replaying this one on the Nintendo switch. It has quickly jumped up to one of my top 10 most favorite games. Honestly it’s a gem. :)

This is a special game... my favorite parts are whenever I was not directly on a story mission and I could freely just hunt and trap... this game is sooo very special and I remember how much of a breath of fresh air it was because NO ONE had a similar game to this... and Oddworld Abe couldn't prepare you for the creative gameplay of this game.... I didn't know what to expect and it blew me away...

Omg I played this game so much back as a kid but I totally forgot it's name, tysm.
Woah! I remember seeing this on a gaming magazine in a bookstore near us. Being a kid back then, I bought this cheap magazine to cut out pictures for a school project. But most of the time I just look at the images, and imagine how this game feels like when playing it. Growing up I never had any video games, not even a phone. This video just popped up in my recommendations and all the memories went back. Now I can atleast say I have some decent platforms in terms of gaming (console/pc). But this makes me appreciate everything even more.

I’ve never ever ever played ,seen or heard of this game. But I’m 100000% familiar with old video game nostalgia. I can literally feel the nostalgia he’s getting from some of these sound effects and graphics you’d typically hear and see in an old game like this. Just janky, low budget, low brow but still fun sound effects a lot of early games had. I can feel the nostalgia he’s recieving from a game I’ve never even heard of. That’s cool. The human brain is crazy stupid powerful

I played it again recently. I got stuck on the mine cart boss again. I haven't despised a level as much before or since.
That crossbow with the chipmunk and spider things is one of the best weapons I've seen
My grandma loves this game and i always have to help her on certain missions. She always calls me in when she plays and says "Alex help me play stranger" and when i take damage she always yells at me to shake. Love this game so much
My parents got divorced when I was young so I spent alot of time flying from Florida to NJ and Id always make sure to buy a gaming magazine from a vendor before the plane ride so I had something to read. Remember being super excited about this when I was reading the review and I feel sad to say at 31 years old I still havent played this 😅 always wish I had

I have been on the hunt for this game for years and I could never ever remember the name all I could remember was the running animation and being stuck on a puzzle I was just searching through xbox games online for half an hour when I found it, it had your video under it and knowing that one or my favorite youtubers manged to post a video without me catching it when it was posted is heartbreaking

This game was the first ever game I got for my Xbox , I love it so much till this day! The gameplay the way you can change camera POV , the ammo you find plus when they upgrade your weapons omg bro this game is everything to me! Even the storyline is sick I wish they could’ve made a second game exploring the steef history and universe! This takes in the same place as munch and gabe I believe I’m not sure but yeah I love this game ❤️

Absolutely loved this game. Definitely a favorite. Childhood games I’ll never forget and some of many favorites. Metal Gear Solid. Prince of Persia, Sands of Time. Toy Commander. Ninja Gaiden(hardest game ever played) Red Dead Revolver. Vigilante 8. Of course there’s more.

Always loved the Bounty Hunter genre of games like this and Bounty Hunter: Jango Fett. Sad I don't see much of them anymore. Got this as part of the Oddworld Collection on Switch and it runs pretty well!
