Linhouse valley is not far from there well worth a visit. Has some old hidden shale mines as well if you can find them.

The entrance that runs through to Mid Calder is at the Lennis up past the wee waterfall. You can still get in but not through they blocked it in the 60s or 70s. The other ones I believe are around the Almond on the Mid Calder side. Videos on here of folk goin in them if you look

Also missed out Oakbank, that was linked in to the Shale industry. The Calderwood development has expanded East Calder massively over the last few years so expect that population number to grow exponentially. Great Video though, staying in Broxburn i am often through Almondell but never really stopping to see the boards and parts of Interest.

Calderwood is not EAST CALDER locals I've spoke to hate it down there an would rather move back beside their folk. It's like Sowetto doon there. Crimes is, through the roof. Total eyesore. Locals, hate it.

Forgot to say East Calder has lots of inter marriage with Germany. Lots of families here related to Germans. Lots went over to work in the 70s etc also it was West Germany then and East Calder and Kirknewton are Miltary villages. Small fact for you. My neighbours dad was the piper at JFKs funeral. Lots of history like that round here.

@@dobermankompanie This is super interesting! With all the newbuilt reseidences in Calderwood, the area has nice ambivalent air to it. And the landscape is just spectacular. I really enjoyed my stay.
