Chris..Charlie from the UK here..I’ve watched 1000’s of TH-cam vids regarding starter oil painters and your tutorials are by far superior than any other..cheers mate..!
As an art teacher, your videos are absolutely perfect to show my students. So much information packed into a high quality video. Also your lighting is amazing! What does your setup look like? It’s not as bright or harsh as some other youtubers.
Ahhh! Genius tip for lettering, thanks Chris! This whole video was extremely useful. You make everything so clear I refer back to so much over and over so it’s stuck in my mind when I paint each day
Great tips! Loved the bonus tip! I've been struggling with fine lines not necessarily lettering but so useful in many different areas! Thanks for sharing 👍
I read that Nicholas Cage had a collection of shrunken heads and now Paint Coach nearly has a full set of Cage heads. It's like a Charlie Kaufman script. Great advice as always PC.
Love all of your videos! Can you make a video to give suggestions for matching values across different hues and chroma levels? I am finding this difficult. Thanks!
Hi Chris, I have very recently got interested in oil painting. I used to paint in acrylics and was fed up with the drying time.... Do you have any suggestions for the size of my canvases, brushes, paint and other essentials I will need for oil painting? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, V,
Another helpful and inspiring video Chris, thank you. I have to ask (although it's probably been brought up before) why do you wear gloves when painting? They seem restrictive to me, but do you recommend them for health reasons when painting with oils?
Some people use them as a precaution for lead and cadmium paints. While I have read that the molecules are too large to be absorbed through the skin, gloves can help make clean up easier and limit hand washing and general spreading of paint. I don’t use lead or cadmium so I don’t wear gloves. Was that helpful?
Your paint should not be thin by default you thin it down in the beginning stage and then start increasing the thickness bit by bit using medium or less thinner or even straight from the tube. He has great video about layering check it out
Am I the only one who thought he meant ON glass? I was all excited for a minute, while the video was loading, thinking I could paint my boring living room window (neighbor's brick wall) into a faux stained glass landscape or something.
Lettering! It looks great in paintings ....you should see my handwriting though. In the old days people took pride in their penmanship.....like many things....practice
Thank you Chris for another great video. I was wondering, could you make a video focusing on instagram art accounts and how to be successful, create a good interesting account to show our art work and maybe even selling it? Thank you, I look forward to more great content!

Great tips I’m currently working on a mason jar full of my paint brushes and never painted glass before. Thanks for the content.
This one is so specific! Working from the background forward seems logical but I know in paint it's trickier!
Bob Ross inspired me to start oil painting, but you are the teacher I'm sticking with while I start mastering basics. Thank you!!
I have always struggled with painting glass so thank you for such a wonderful video!
Another great class! Thanks for sharing!
Wow! Amazing work!
Working on this today!! Thank you!!
I see you're almost done with the painting in the background! Can't wait to see the final product

That turned out great. Thanks for the lettering tip, lettering was always a nail biter for me since it always comes into play at the end of the piece.

Nice video!
I always struggle with layering, my paint itself is quite thin and layering it is almost impossible. Any suggestions on what to do?

Hey is it possible to upload the reference Image?
Did you ever use Gouache?
Am I the only one who thought he meant ON glass? I was all excited for a minute, while the video was loading, thinking I could paint my boring living room window (neighbor's brick wall) into a faux stained glass landscape or something.
Can someone mention the name of music at 2:50 mins
Probably got it from copyright free music
🙏🏻❤️❤️

i am drawing a window that looks like stain glass but its not like a fake stain glass window . sorry explaining well.?
😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳
You're first frame is important in your videos btw lol
I'm using daily gouache for 20 minutes post dinner instead of oils...but principles are same though
I would give up oil painting if I had to wear blue plastic gloves.
