The HIDDEN truth about TikTok BAN | Is TikTok the Only Threat?

Facebook and Instagram took almost a decade to grow their user base to over 1 billion. TikTok did that in HALF the time. It was all great! Until the TikTok ban became a reality. Why is TikTok getting banned by so many countries, and is it going to be banned in the US?

❓ Why does the US government fear TikTok?
The main reason seems to be the fear that China’s communist party could control the app. To be fair, TikTok itself does not operate in China - but its parent company does. Since China has significant influence over businesses in its jurisdiction, by proxy, it could potentially get its hands on TikTok. “National security threat” seems to be a new label for this app. It looks like there are two main points of concern. Point A - potential propaganda and Point B is data collection.
📎 What data does TikTok collect?
If you take a look at the TikTok privacy policy, it gathers… a LOT of things. Not just your signup info or what content you watch. TikTok also collects all the messages you send or receive in the app. If you sync your phone contacts, they will get info from your phone book as well. Then there’s your device’s info collection, IP address, and with that - your location. If you think about the scale of it all, with far over 1 billion users… TikTok privacy concerns start to sound pretty reasonable, don't they?
📍Bottom line:
Yes - TikTok collects data. Yes - it’s a LOT of data. But is it illegal or unique to this app? Not at all. The concerns of TikTok collecting data or questioning “is TikTok safe” should be directed towards all social media platforms. After all, they are the windows to our lives, and absolute data treasure troves - doesn’t matter if it’s TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, X, or
