I put one of these on my mini van 2 years ago, and all the tape around the edges are deteriorating. I have reached out to them several times and have not heard back. So much for standing behind your product.
Why hasn't most trucking companies thought of this instead of apu running on diesel. This is a great opportunity for companies like swift or prime to make a earthly impact and also not have so many breakdowns. This is a splendid idea that I would put on any truck.
@Travis Waid - what do you do on those days with no sun out, on a cloudy day? When I ordered my new Freightliner from the factory, this solar was an option but I chose diesel powered APU so I didn’t have to contend with cloudy days and freezing winter days. Solar panels aren’t all that cracked up to be in a subzero temperature…. Batteries just don’t work very well when it’s freezing out

My company is actually interested they just want to know what a cost is we have 12 trucks with five more trucks coming into our fleet and that would be an awesome savings to us so if you get back to me and let me know what a unit cost would be for a for 2019 freightliners that's what we have in our fleet that would be awesome
there are things in the truck that still draw power when it's parked. it looks like a good way to not end up with low batteries if the truck sits a week or two.
Dumbest idea ever. Why would you need solar panels on a Diesel-engine semi tractor? What is it you think you need to run off of solar that isn't already run off of the chassis batteries - which are getting plenty of juice from a 200-amp alternator that's run by the engine that only causes minimal parasitic losses on such a large, powerful engine the produces a minimal 1,350 ft/lbs of torque. Such a poorly thought-out application of solar.

The tape used is like $300 a roll did you use the right type of tape?
@draleighd sure did. They provided it with the panel. It was installed by a representative of the manufacturer.

Exactly what I was thinking, trucks constantly move and so I wonder if they have a better way to adhere the panels. Brilliant idea otherwise though.
We’ve seen the testing. These panels are not moving. They get tested at like 800 mph winds lol. Not Mickey Mouse

The solar panels charge the t
batteries when the truck is off but the driver wants AC running. It’s to prevent the truck from having to idle.
