Yep, was stunned as well. Can't wait to hop in Sim. Funny how Russians 10 years later came up with that horrible canopy frame in MiG-29
@@gansior4744 for sim, you should at least get flares and AIM-7M, the rest you should be able to grind easily. it's super easy to get head on kills with the aim7M's

Basically I've been waiting for modern cockpits to get into sim because they actually present enough data in a reasonable way. You don't feel like you're at a disadvantage compard to a third person air rb view

MiG 29 with the HMD and cannon ballistics computer for air targets looks like it could be a real fun experience for sim. Looking forward to your video on it
i don't thinkit really has lead indicator though just that flimsy movey thingy
The lead indicator doesn't work rn. Also, the HMD reticle looks like shit and you really dont have high off boresight capability with the R60M's. I've flown for 3 hours today, 22 kills, mostly with R27R's / few R60M kills but wasn't with the HMD. Dont rely on HMD in the merge unless you know for sure the enemy isn't expecting a missile.

the bearing vector on the HUD needs to be fixed asap
PD ignores chaff because it ignores all signals that have a low difference of speed compared to the radar, that's why it ignores ground clutter but locks perfectly on an incoming aircraft, struggles on targets flying away and loses lock when notched, is not the AIM7. Normal mode is better in all angles at tracking but can eat chaff
AIM7-M has an inverse pulse doppler seeker giving it excellent Look Down / Shoot Down capabilities over previous versions.
the constant wave seeker makes it as resistant to interference from chaff bouncing the radar as the missiles on the mirage 2000C

At 6:35 on Ur radar to tell the direction the enemy is going u can simply look at that little projecting line from the radar indicator to tell if it's coming closer of further From u so if it's above the circle he's going further and if it's below he's coming closer

Length of the line tells rate of motion as well. Also in the HUD bottom right corner, when you have someone locked, you get values that show for range and closure rate/speed, not sure which yet.
You can turn on the new radar|gyro scopes in aircraft game settings - its pretty accurate but so sensetive
I don't really know what the gyro does, it just feels like it makes the gun sight go crazy whenever I turn
how do you activate in the settings?
@@soysauce6977 its calculating trajectory and bullet drop by the radar - all you need to do is target the enemy by scope and it will be easy gun kill

If something is coming head-on onto you (10:30 1060 closing speed, and direction pointing towards you in Radar) you can easily fire an Aim-7F/M from 10-12 miles away.

I play with the mig 21s the radar sucks so bad like it’s basically impossible to play this mode of the game.cans the cockpit is so cluttered you literally can’t see out of the cockpit

For me, 27mm Mauser sounds like absolute garbage. Irl it's such a glorious meaty sound
@@gansior4744 that might be. Never heard them. What I can say so far from my gameplay today is that F16 was a lot better than the Mig29. I couldn't use thr Mig29 at all. F16 got me a couple of nice kills.

how does the system work?[Identification, friend or foe (IFF)] I grab the radar and launch a missile and it turns out to be an ally on the f14a

Tried playing sim for the first time in months and could not see anything. Somehow I spot a grey blob on the horizon. Followed the grey blob until it transformed into a F-14 closing in until I was low on fuel. Tried firing some R-13M or what they are called, he did not even have to drop flares to dodge only accelerated away.
Then I was killed two times in a row by same F4J player without any radar warnings so some players can apparently see better than me. My eyesight is too bad for sim now or the game has worse spotting than before, anyway probably no more sim for me or I have to join the zombers and bomb static targets only.
Try to spade your crew that makes the dots appear farther away. A part of that they have better radars than you
maxed out expert crew but tried a few graphics settings because I could not see any planes in ground battles either. If I set everything to lowest settings is I can suddenly see planes at 10+ km distance again. Some GFX setting must affect spotting dots it seems. The dots are also black again, not grey and blurry. Still hard to see on medium distance when dots change to 3D models but not too bad, the game looks worse though.
@@GtSigge yes less details are better for dot finding but even in full graphics if you have a nice post effect settings you shouldn't have problems on looking at dots or following planes. 90% of the work goes to cockpit sharpness

I don't think you get that box on simulator unless the planes HUD had it in real life.
How can you tell what's friendly and what isn't on the radar?
Friendlies are a double line and cannot be locked

@@AstralHeretic when he says "I don't know it's coming this way or not" at 6:36. The line jutting out of his target shows the direction the target is heading relative to the radar and the length of the line corresponds to speed in which it's travelling.
Also, there were times where he seemed unsure the distance to his target that he's locked up. Each horizontal line is a distance indicator up to the maximum distance the radar is set to (seen in the upper-right hand corner). So, for the plane he was following at the same spot in the video, his target was a little beyond the 6 mi indicator at around 8 mi, but as he's saying "it won't let me get any closer," you can see his target slowly move down to the 6 mi line, which means his target is indeed getting closer. And if he knew that he would probably have felt more confident in keeping up the pursuit to try and launch a missile before turning away. Which leads me to a third thing: the little hash marks on the right side are your "kill probability" indicators. The one at the bottom is (my best guess going off of DCS experience) the minimum engagement distance for the missile, and the top short hash is your "high probability of a kill" indicator, with the target being the long hash. Towards the end of his chase, right before he pulled away, you can see the target's hash was in between both of the short hashes, which probably meant he could have let loose an AIM-7 and it would most likely have resulted in a kill.

lmao the r27ts are useless atm, they litearlly will go for any flare at all even rear aspect tomcats dont need to turn ur throttle to zero.
Maybe this works in WT, but engines don't cool down immediately. If this is real advice for WT it just shows how silly WT is.

I love the 29 and the 16. It looks nice but its no where near enough to bring me back to the clusterfuck that is Warthunder, especially with how irrelevant the sim mode is and the sim community. There isn't even a point in using the cockpit instruments like.. wtf...
