- History has been made with the construction of a 3D printed community amenities block in Dubbo, NSW, Australia. Two awesome businesses, @DubboRegionalCouncil and @Contour3Dconcreteprinting, have collaborated to make this a reality! This is the first amenities block built utilising 3D Construction Printing (3DCP for short).
How does 3DCP work?
3DCP works similar to a hobby 3D printer but on a larger and more complex scale. Instead of using plastic filament like a hobby 3D printer, 3DCP uses a special concrete blend developed by Contour3D and Hanson Concrete to create a building or, in this case, a community amenities block. This concrete can be used as it is or it can be coloured using an iron oxide based pigment to create a coloured concrete suitable for the environment in which the construction is being undertaken.
DISCLAIMER: the above information in my description of how 3DCP works is from my observations only. Please be aware of this and read up on the process via Contour3D’s website: www.contour3d....
