Mute this video and play along with the original song in a different window. As long as you tune your 4 string down a half step (Eb Ab Db Gb) it fits like a glove! I still give you a thumbs up!
One of my all-time favorites. Wonderful bass line totally in service of the song. And recently I discovered this is actually a cover from a country song from Robin Lee with a slightly different bass line. A LITTLE bit more challenging but the same driving force. Great Better BEST!
Okay.... I learned the bassline from your video; Now, I play the entire bassline against Allanah Myles' official music video perfectly. THANKS!! You are GREAT!! ps... I keep my Nate Mendel P bass tuned to E b and my Standard P bass in E ..
great presentation and graphics. i noticed your bridge setting is what it is ,but mine are never that far apart. also the camera angle from above is a nice touch
How come I tune down 1/2 step [Eb, Ab, Db, Gb] and we are off key together? I play against Alannah Myles' you tube and I am right on. [So, you are playing it in E Aeolian or Natural Minor Scale?]
Attention ce n'est pas la tonalité de la version originale ; on est ici en mi alors que la tonalité est en mi b ou Ré dièse. Sinon la partition est conforme et bien jouée.
@@karlsmith2570 yeah, you were on the right track. Great song and the bass line is so good, drives the song along beautifully. Not difficult to play, but getting the tone and feel is the key.
@@mrbungle7586 spot on! Another great example of such a song is Running up that Hill by Kate Bush. Only 1 note the whole song, but getting the feel of the song is all that counts and makes it a stamina challenge as well.
Good cover! But the score is wrong I think, it is a 12/8 , not 4/4, three notes per beat and for the main riff of the E there is a silence in the middle

Great Video, it helps a lot! By far the best black velvet bass video.
Thank you !!
beautiful melody. I can hear her singing to it.

The Robin Lee version is a cover of the Alana Miles version.
@@fivestring65ify Yep. Alannah's version was released a few months before Robin's, from memory. 😊
super good video and you have a great touch - plunking away on my vintage epiphone viola bass ! sounding dam fine and rocking the house !
No fancy playing straight to point to get job done I like his platform

Excellent bass player
Thank you 🤗
Great lesson my friend. Thanks.
Yea I have to agree with comment below... best video I’ve seen... thank you!!
Man, this is so Sick!
Wrong bass. These Fenders are no good for THAT type of tone. Should be playing a Spector......
Nailed it man.
TY so much! Tried it by ear and just couldn't quite get the strange note, nor where was best to play it.
Very well done!
I love vibing to this song on gta

What tunning is that? not a standard one EDAG ?
The numbers above the triplets are just the suggested fingering right?
Yes, suggested fingering!
Original ist auf einem Fretless ?
How come I tune down 1/2 step [Eb, Ab, Db, Gb] and we are off key together? I play against Alannah Myles' you tube and I am right on. [So, you are playing it in E Aeolian or Natural Minor Scale?]
See what I wrote in the Video description.
@@basscination Sorry man. Until now, I did not know there was a description drop down. Kool video, thanks.
@@basscination ps... since it is all the same; there is no point in tuning down for practice. I learned something from you, thanks again...
can i request "i know a little"
What bpm uses????
can you do . who do you think you are Sass Jordan

Its sounds like Black Velvet original
What are the notes in the bass riff?
I drove across the USA in 1989 and this was the only cassette tape I had……
👊🏼🤓👍
original bass line was played on the keyboard :)
yes and its tuned half tone down because its blues
2:14
Eb ?
Just read the video description.
Real song is in Eb or D# if you prefer.
Read description
Fun fact: it was originally done with a synth, using samples , not a "real" bass like the one in this video
That false , a session bass player record this
@@Danreevesbass do your homework, this was confirmed by the producer
Would this be considered a walking 8th's bassline??
It's a 8th note shuffle or swing. Not really a walking bass line.
@@mrbungle7586 well, at least I was somewhat correct about this being an 8th note bassline

Not sure why most people would want to learn it in different tuning.
Because, as even Tom states in the description below, the bass line of the song actually is in Eb. That’s why.
The bass is tuned down

Nice work. But bass should be tuned half step down for this song
That's what I wrote in the video description!
@@basscination Yeah. I didn't read it 👌
@@basscination Thank you for NOT tuning down!
that tab is wrong made
I really wish your notation was correct.
yeah, except is all wrong. lazy fingers... try it in E-bemol on five strings, as the ORIGINAL... see you at the other end.
The original was done on a keyboard
Or make your own video
@@donavangreen27 I did.
so positive of u
LMAO this is a tutorial not a faithful recreation. Don't you have better things to do pal?
The bass is important but seems to be boring to play
All wrong pull this down
Excelente!!!!tremendo!!
