Hey, very cool parrots. I just like to watch macaws and other parrots doing their thing and you have hundreds of these videos, so subscribed. Just a question, how they fare in the cool weather? Seems they are not really bothered in short time at least.
Hello and merry Christmas. Thank you for the interest and watching. You are spot on. Although they do not like the cold, but as they are protected by good insulation. feathers, they are ok for a short time. In the cold they are going out as long as they feel comfortable, a max of 30 min or so. Most of the days shorter, unless the sun is out. Also we, human, have a body temp of 37.C and our normal heart beat is 55 to 80 per minute. But they, Macaws, have the 39.C body temp and 120 B/M heart beat. And when they fly they use the biggest muscle in their body, the chest, and their heart beats up to 220 p/m. That is why even in very cold and freezing temp, they are ok if they are healthy and if they are not siting on metal or ice. Thanks again and all the best.
