    I really appreciated the discussion about the different candy mixes and how substrate colors affects the end result. When I've mixed colors in the past, I wondered why unexpected hues became visible. Thank you so much for the deep-dive into why this happens. This is a very helpful and informative video.

    I mix one part Tequila Yellow with two parts Silver Sealer. Obviously use it with UVLS. Makes an EXTREMELY vibrant gold. I’m going to experiment with other candies also. Since the candy is a dye rather than paint it keeps most of the silver shine
    Love your videos. Concise and informative

    I love these videos so much. I have learned so much about painting and mixing colors. Any chance you could do a video showing how to use the aluminums with transparent and opaques? Would love to see something like ford’s Electric Blue Metallic from the 50s and 60s

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pigment-based colors, including Transparent Colors, which are translucent) and Opaque Colors don't have the same vibrant-metallic looks that is created when candy2o is applied over aluminum. Transparent pigment-based colors, such as Wicked Colors, can be directly mixed with an aluminum to make a metallic color. Try a few test panels mixing Aluminum Fine and Medium with a transparent color and applying over various base colors, including a grey. We generally shy away from remaking OEM colors. Thank you.

    I know we all see it slightly different but the 6:1 over silver sealer is spot on copper.

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the feedback on which copper looks best, and applying over 6013 Silver Sealer without tinting does add to the overall metallic count of the finish, plus is simpler.

      In addition to the video on this channel (see our Color Mixing with Chris playlist, th-cam.com/play/PLr6Jq7mWlghij0DuJQrfLNIUGFiUUsQny.html), much can be learned by reading the tech sheets available at www.creatextech.com, and making test panels. Try candy2o mixes over both a silver base of 6013 AutoBorne Silver Sealer and compare with Wicked W350 Metallic Gold and other metallic bases. Thank you.

    Hello and thank you very much for all your videos. I have noted that virtually none of your original packaging is shaken vigorously before pouring?
    I myself also have problems with anything containing silver material settling very quickly in the spray gun (upright normal position) and almost blocking the nozzle at the next attempt/layer. A big problem to start up again with normal flow through the nozzle. Any suggestions? Yes, I tremble, but what has run down the narrow channels cannot be shaken out again. I use a normal cup. Maybe I should put the gun down horizontally on the table between coats?
    One last thing: Can't really see what the cotym is, do you release the trigger between each pass?

Is there one of your paints you would suggest for pinstriping? We used to use 1 shot but since they took the lead out it dosen't perform as well. How do you do a candy cream? I have a Shadow Spirit in black and cream, I have to repaint but I want to stay true to original. I want to do a ghost candy red on the black portion, but I'd like to continue the candy theme into the cream tank side section. I've thought about doing a shadow gold (gold candy with a black candy) on the top side of the cream side panels. How would you do this? 1998 shadow spirit cream on black.

      Try a test panel or two with possibilities. candy2o 4652 Tequila could be used for the base "gold" candy color, tinted with 4662 Dirt Track Brown to create a darker tone could work (and perhaps "dotted" with 4664 Black). Please make a few test panels trying different mix ratios and if we may be of further service, please email us at techsupport@createxcolors.com. Thank you.

      Hello. Createx is a manufacturer of water-based paint and coatings; HoK are solvents-based (oil based) paint & coatings. We do not accept commercial paintwork. For information about painting a complete vehicle, please refer to our automotive application guide available at www.creatextech.com. This could be done, and would be similar candy2o 4662 Dirt Track Brown over Metallic Gold, just a bit warmer, th-cam.com/video/Y-HjVQim-9c/w-d-xo.html. To make candy2o Dirt Track Brown more a Root Beer, mix it with 4652 Tequila Yellow. Thank you.

    Can Hot Sparkle be used instead of silver sealer

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, Wicked Hot Rod Sparkle Colors can be applied over a base color such as AutoBorne Sealer or Wicked Opaque Colors, and candy2o applied over it. Hot Rod Sparkle Gold applied over AutoBorne Sealer Yellow & Orange mixed 1:1 would make a great base for a candy copper mid-coat color. Thank you.

    I want it somewhere between copper and the tangerine video you did... and I want it to be a candy metallic with 2k clear.

      Createx paints are often applied over cured, solvent-based base-coat paint that is prepared by scuffing 600 - 800 grit, then cleaned with either a solvent-based degreaser or 99% isopropyl alcohol. For automotive, Createx paints are recommended for top-coating with a solvent-based, catalyzed (2k0 urethane clear. Thank you.

      No, we only make candy2o. Older Createx candy colors were discontinued around 2008 and do not perform anywhere near as well as candy2o and should not be used for any of the candy techniques demonstrated in these videos with candy2o. Thank you.

    also how do metal flakes behave in water based paint?

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Metal-flakes work well when mixed with Createx paints, a practice we've endorsed sine about 2001. Our best metal-flake carriers are 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear, www.uvlsclears.com, and AutoBorne 6000Transparent Sealer, www.autoborne.com, as the carrier. Of the two, e prefer 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear as the metal-flake carrier. Shelf-life can vary per flake type (plastic v. metal, and whether the metal flake is coated, most flake is a plastic composite), but generally the flake-carrier mix is stable and capable of a few weeks if not months of storage, perhaps longer. Only add 4011 Reducer (not 4012) to the mix intended for use within a 48-hour period, keeping the paint capped air-tight unless pouring paint. Flake will settle and need physical stirring in between sessions. Than you.

      @@CreatexColors Interesting I always thought metal flake was Mica flake, that is colored.,,. if you sand it it turns dark.
      will the water based candy paint give the same effect as urethane candies.. with the cost of urethane candies, seems like the water based would be a great option, but none of the candy car painters ive asked have tried the water based candy.
      also can dry flake be sprayed over createx solid colors like wicked , then coated with a urethane clear? so basically will the dry flake stick to the base createx ? thanks

    • @randy1ization
      @randy1ization 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      from what ive read, candy paint is tinted with DYES. I guess that is what makes it semi transparent . I think they call the urethane candy the true candy,. but what is true candy? what is the charecteristics that make a candy color? how is the candy made in the water based paints,? is it tinted with dyes? thanks
      I few years ago I painted a honda ct70 frame with green createx water based paint, then cleared over it and it came out good.

    I simply have a question about candy 2o
    Just to understand, I need to mix 4050 (1:1 ratio with whichever color I choose), and also 4011 (5%-10%)

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With a spray-gun, the mix is 4050 6:1 candy20, thinning with 4011 Reducer not required. With an airbrush, 1:1 with thinning ~ 10% per volume. Mix ratios are set forth in the candy20 tech sheets available at www.candy20.com and www.creatextech.com. Thank you.
