Tbh, I'm still not sure on what is the deal with the whole "percussion can't sound punchy on SNES" thing; is it because of the earlier games in the system's lifespan not having good percussion or it being too muffled or some shit? If that's the case, it can be pretty much summed up by cartridges not having enough memory back then, thus needing to waste as little ARAM as possible to have them fit in properly (probably also because of SFX taking up most of the ARAM space in some cases too) Most of the later games on the SNES's library have some really nice, clean n' punchy percussion mainly because there was more memory available on the cartridges, thus having more space for samples of higher fidelity; for example, try listening to any SNES game from 1990-1993, then listen to the ones from 1994-1996 (and beyond) and you can hear the difference pretty well ;)
I was surprised when I first heard punchy snes music too, then realised there's actually tons of it! Turtles in Time and Leathal Enforcers are arguably more punchy on Snes than Genesis. The drums are so crisp.

This is one of the arcades in Yakuza 0 and Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise. Pretty cool theme. This is one of Yu Suzuki's early works. Fun Fact: The beginning part of Virtua Fighter 3's intro theme will remind you of Super Hang-On.

And to hear those amazing tracks translate over into the SNES so well? It's a treat on the ears. Well done, you've been knocking it out of the park lately, keep it up.
I am SO glad you made a remix/cover to this video game track, as it's one of my favorites. I hope you do remixes/covers of the other three BGMs in Super Hang-On as well in the near future. That guitar from UN Squadron and Mega Man X2 and X3 sounds superb here. Keep up the good work!
Where’s any Aliens (Konami 1990 arcade), Alisia Dragoon, Jurassic Park (Sega 1994 arcade), Jurassic Park: The Lost World, Burning Force, Contra: Hard Corp, Castlevania Chronicles and Bloodlines SNES remixes? Like checking out possible PC-FX, 3DO and N64 version of T'ai Fu, Megaman X4 & X5, Castlevania: SOTN, Spyro and Crash. Seeing how much they sound too.
Good stuff, while of course the king is the arcade version, and the Gen version could have been better imo. Apparently they were just getting a handle on the 2612 back in 88-89, so early Gen music barring exceptions tended not to sound the best.

Super Hang-on is one of the greatest video games every made and I cannot be convinced otherwise, just by how it looks alone even. Just peak Video Game
