Sprinter is my favourite
Another underrated gem of a game and soundtrack.
It's one of the cheapest game for the system. But one i've played so much. I'd recommend it to anyone interest in MD games.
@@maxwelldalz2682 It's pretty much a must have for that reason. It's also included on what seems like most of the compilations in all regions (IE Mega Games/Genesis 6 pack).
It's a shame the arcade version hasn't had any rereleases.

When my mum brought us the sega mega drive as a kid this was part of the demo games that came with it along with columns and World Cup 1990...wow nostalgia 10:46 hits different
Omg me and my step bro had a mega drive at my grandparents, and we had these exact 3 games and now you mention it I remember the cartridge box had a grey/silver spine and 3 picture titles of super hang on, columns, and Italia 1990. Rediscovered a memory I didn’t know I had. Thanks hahaha

Here in 2022. This soundtrack, along with Sonic the Hedgehog 2, defined the beginning of my love for video games all those years ago.
Remember playing this with my dad in the mid 90s. He has passed but the soundtrack reminds me of Saturday mornings. That bloody password system was annoying lol

Sega: we need you to make some simple music for our motorcycle racing game, doesnt need to be super complex or anything the Genesis can only handle midi sound effects.

The soundtrack of this game is great, "wining run" is one of the best songs I have ever heard in a video game (made with midi), it has brought me lots of good memories of my childhood, thank you very much friend

I can't describe how much I love this soundtrack. I think I got my Genesis Xmas 1987 or 88. It came with Altered Beast but my parents threw in Super Hang-On as well. I was the happiest kid on earth.

Although it definitely lacks the intense pcm drums from the arcade, the fm lead synths have this early Megadrive tone and I think it has its charm
Love Super Hang On. Even with the slowdown the Mega Drive version suffered. It's an arcade racer at it's best. For the longest time my favourite track was Hard Road, but Outride a Crisis is starting to surpass it!
I'd really love to see a unofficial remake(over) of this game on the Genesis with the cartridge sizes and programming skills we all have now.

@@solarflare9078The Mega Drive version of OutRide a Crisis sounds the closest of all the tracks in this version followed by Winning Run then Sprinter and Hard Road which I definitely prefer the MD rendition of Hard Road over the arcade original.
This was an excellent transition to the home platform! Not only did it have a cool soundtrack but added a career mode that simulated circuit competition. You had to maintain, repair, upgrade the bike, hire mechanics, and work your way up through tougher tracks, and higher earnings, constantly adapting your driving style to different tracks and how well you could afford to upgrade your bike. Progress was saved by recording an alphanumeric code when you stopped playing. I kept a little notebook for this and Dune: Battle for Arrakis. 😂
Only thing lacking was an analog input of some kind, could be a bit challenging managing complex curves.

i've only ever beaten the beginner circuit of this game's tracks. i love the music and the little caricatures used in career mode for the rivals/mechanics/sponsers. my fave track been the garage theme and the epic name entry.
Sprinter 05:38 is my favorite. I put this music every time I play in Europe.

An underrated game and soundtrack and the Mega Drive version sounds great for such an early title for the system and the FM patches sound very similar to the arcade original with some differences due to the Yamaha 2612 being cut back from the Yamaha 2151 from the original arcade game.

Why does it sound slow? I had the PAL. Maybe my memory is off?
Because PAL is below 30 frames per second. Your city power plant that gives strict power frequency to your home, that cannot make a normal speed frame per sound normal tempo music.
Games that weren't PAL optimized only run at about 80-90% of the speed they were intended. I think it was more common before consoles went HDMI.
