Hello from Utah. Excellent video. Great camera work showing the mechanic changing the brake pads. This is exactly what we need to see. Good narration. By all means purchase a few tools; as you found out the factory tool kit leaves a lot to be desired. A set of open end/ring spanners, a ratchet socket set, needle nose and channel lock pliers (like your mechanic used) and some screwdrivers and you'll be all set.
Thank you so much for watching! Yes for now I have my eyes on SBV universal tool roll kit for motorcycle. :) It is a dream to visit Utah once! The beehive state! :)
Real men don’t need tools 🛠️ we mess up things first & later call technicians to clean up 😌😌 this is wife’s point of view!! We don’t agree as usual 😂😂😂 great job 👏🏻👌👌👍👍
hey srinivas, i recently bought a gt650 which might have been completed 4 months and rode about 5.5k, now the company service centre guy is telling me to change the break pads as they are worn out. is it possible for the break pads to worn out this early? cause i dont know how to check the life, i just agreed to it
I have shown how to check the brake pads on the video. 🙏🏽 You see the gap between the two pads which are on either side of the disc. If it is to less then it needs to change if not then let it be.
Hey Srinivas, it looks like the rear caliper pad pin is missing the clip on the right at 05:48? For DIY I highly recommend getting Stanley's ratchet spanner set (both 1/2" and 1/4") and maybe even a set of ring spanners for places where the ratchet won't fit.
yes the ring spanner is what I want, since Stanley was not able to open that. :( OH!!! yes you are right! There should be 2 pins! I have to buy one and install it then. Thank you!
Higher price because these are Sintered brake pads, and not organic ones which are used on other lower capacity REs. Higher performance and lasts longer. I wouldn't agree with your second statement though. 15K kms in ODO and never replaced brake pads. I feel like the front is still good for a couple of thousand kms. and about the rear ones, I don't think I would have to replace atleast for next 20K kms.
@@Rakshan.Poojary spending 6k for brake pad replacement is expensive for a 3 lakh Rs motorcycle. Cost for brake pad replacement for my i20 is even lesser than this amount.
Hey @SrinivasGanesh, did you convert wheels for tubeless tires, or are you running the tube ones? I'm planning to get the Interceptor so is it better to get alloys version or to convert beacuse I like the spoke wheels look more
Believe me Bro, I knew you would need RSA just after reading your video caption. Been there 😂 You need to press firmly so those pistons will go inside fully, highly advisable to remove pistons, o rings, clean them and change brake fluid while changing new pads, good time to grease caliper pins too with caliper grease Cheers 🥂
@@SrinivasGanesh Anna thanks for answering...but I don't have that much brain...😂😂😇😇 please make it simple....chrome or black?😂😂I'm planning to buy interceptor, that's why I'm asking u for opinion....ur using it since 5 years....can't find better experienced than u👍
The stock RE Brake pads for INT650 are sintered. I was ordering the stock ones from a mechanic and on RE's website for parts the text does have "sintered". So will aftermarket sintered pads be better?
Sri bro! I am not able to decide between two colors of interceptor Barcelona blue and mark 2. Which one would you buy? I have not seen the blue color in person, have you?
There is an easy way to change brake pads with only the bike tool kit. Take the wheel off, then disc is out of your way and pad change is easy. Repeat for other wheel and its all done. You can use a wood or plastulic wedge inside the caliper to push pistons back.
Ah! yes that is also true, but I was not able to remove the caliber from the front end using OEM tools, so assumed that I may not be able to open anything with those, hence ended up calling the Road side assistance.
Bro The handling of my Interceptor 650 is very tight, making it difficult to ride smoothly. Which brand of cone set bearings are you using, and what could be causing the tight steering? Could you suggest a specific website and brand, other than the stock Royal Enfield one, as it keeps being faulty?
@@twowheeledparadox but Brembo pads cost about 4700 INR, it would cost people a bomb if they went to get their bike serviced. However, the brake pads come for 600-800 INR as far as I know, when getting it serviced. :(

I am going to change the break pads on my own .. tank you for making the video .

I find price of the brake pads on the higher side as compared to other REs. Any option ? Pads for interceptor hardly last 7-8 k Kms only

I have the outex kit installed. Which makes them tubeless.
Was the RSA free of cost ?
Did you opt for RSA cover beforehand ?
I had opted for RSA but you have to renew it. It costed me about INR 774 because I had not renewed it on time. Else it would have been free of charge.

What does RSA cost for this? Or is this included in the RE RSA?
Also, are these guys from RE or some private ones?
If you have RSA then it is free. If not, then it is ₹708. No extra charges.
Dont interceptors already come with sintered break pads?
Nope. Those pads are known as non-asbestos organic (or NAO) pads.
yes it already comes with sintered break pads from stock, its written sintered in RE part number as well
Yes, the stock Brembo pads are sintered.
They are semi sintered, Sintered Brembo are different and retails at 4700₹ for one pair
