Mate, you’ll just have to trust me on this one. Camden Market is a mere shadow of its former self. 30 years ago it was a proper buzzing market with loads of quality second hand clothes, furniture and records. It was a great place for cheap food to be eaten on the move. My band would always look forward to visiting when in London. I visited in 2018 as a treat for my daughter and could have wept. Now it’s just stalls selling landfill crap and those stupid pods selling overpriced unremarkable food. It’s so, so sad because it used to be an electric day out. Not any more.
Went yesterday for the first time in 10 years or so. Was nearly in tears. I'm only 33 but remember visiting frequently as a teenager in 2005/06/07/08 before life took over. What has happened?
@@jingleton89 it’s a real shock isn’t it? Camden is now just an overblown, commercialised tourist trap. No longer remotely hip or happening. I guess that, like you and I, you really have to have been there years ago to appreciate what we are saying.
Couldn’t agree more mate :( I was so saddened to see all the changes, especially now hearing there’s a sports direct right near the amy winehouse statue!! Wtf man, gentrification sucks- all those cool stalls by the river :( and high rent prices pushing the authentic stool owners out. So sad
I agree. It is a shadow of its former self. The new owner has removed everything that made it popular in the 1st place. Homogeneous and truly lacking in the authenticity that made it great for so many of us for so many years. It's so sad to see it now and remembering the festival like atmosphere of the past.
@Dungarth Koreans and Chinese are much different in dealing with business. the girl in the vid is actually a Korean. Koreans sell only what they like to sell, not just for benefits. i'm a Japanese myself though.
Well done. I live in Camden. I like what's been said, it's a like a little bubble of you can be yourself. I don't want to live anywhere else in London. :o)
i know the first time i went was when i was like 11 years old and i loved every second of it because i can not find ANY good band shirts or the types of clothes i like and i went again for the second time last year and it was just full of teenagers and random men trying to make money, i could barley find anyone who really apreciated the clothing or actually knew a song from the band they were selling merchendise for
All respect o the food hall and the Thi, Chinese etc... But I've always wondered why holiday makers would travel thousands of miles too the UK and eat Chinese food? Why not traditional British food (not that there's much choice). Respect to all the people who sell food around the market, I eat from them often (as I work here)... I was just curious
and you think chefs in proper restaurants don't do that, cos they're 'proper' restaurants? you don't know... they may be picking up bits dropped on the floor and putting them back in your meal, and it's all behind closed doors, so you don't worry about it. And I haven't heard of anyone getting food poisoning or anything exclusively off Camden market food...
@doberman13100 its not just for junkies and hippies. i went there for the first time yesterday and loved it and i dont do any drugs and there is something for everything and everyone. you shouldent judge and stereotype people and places just because of some of the stuff you heard or seen, shame on you!
lol im going there today too. dunno why im watching this xD. ive been through camden like 20 times but havent shopped there in my life im gonna buy a few crazy stuff (dresses jewelry etc) or anything i can wear at a manga expo
I think they're cute. Gotta sell that food somehow, and I must admit, it does work sometimes. Like, I'd go somewhere else, but if I'm hungry, the easily convince me to eat right there...
im going with my friends tomorrow (im there every wednsday drawing). but apparently we are going to talk to 100 girls omorrrow whc isnt veyr fun for me cos im conufuseed hhhaahha
i want to live in Camden its a get away for everyone and anyone, you can feel what you want to feel, be what you want to be, and everyone's so kind and respectable
i fit so right here i can be anything it like a place where you can be who you wanna be without assholes it like being in a imaginationland where their are unique people
we visited Camden July 2015 and we saw those guys dressed up like cast of Alice in Wonderland with the table setup, etc. And just recently we visited Camden again last Wednesday, Aug 25, 2021. It's quite busy again, really happy to go back there.
Most the shops in this vid have gone :( E.RYK is still here, thankfully ! I havent seen Simon (the guys voice) for a long time and Pepe the hairdresser (punked out horse) has moved + I miss them and Lady, the Punked out Mohawk dog. Camden isn't just hanging, it has changed. The Village market will be going in a few years to make way for the hotel! But then everything changes, and the Camden animal evolves just like anything else.
i love the fact that doesnt matter if your normal, posh dress differently any style people dont care you dont feel embaressed or labeled if you walk in and out of the many bondage stores or different fasion stores, all the years been goin to london and only found out last year it was there couldnt believe ive missed out for so long, and im just a normal guy
it was Final Cut, don't remember what version though, sorry. Thanks for the kind words, I am working on a couple of things that might see the light of day soon(ish)

I can't believe how much camden has changed....
nothing compare to Carnaby street from the 70's and the 80's !!!

Physical therapist told me to watch this because it's shot in such a way that makes one dizzy... Helps with vestibular equilibrium.
