The 6th Gen. Heritage Blue TRD OFF ROAD really looks good! But you know, I’m sorta partial to that 5th Gen. Calvary Blue behind you in your garage. It looks so good and we know what it’s about - like my ‘24 Terra TRD PRO 5th Generation 4Runner. It is a keeper for me, but I really love 4Runners regardless. Bought my first Toyota new in ‘83 and our first 4Runner in ‘94. I think you’ve said you had a ‘95 as well. Yes - the Heritage Blue 6th Gen. would look great in your garage next to your Calvary Blue 4Runner.
I was so convinced that I was going to switch over to toyota for the 4runner and now that I see the motor, the price, interior room well I don't think so toyota
More powerful motor, proven in other models for a few years now. $600 price increase on base model and same interior room. You were never considering a switch.
The new 4Runner has slightly more interior room than the old one. What'd you want? Less room? As far as engines go, everyone likes the new 4 bangers performance and they've been very reliable since the Highlander.
Visually it reminds me of the first iteration of the Gen 5. Ive owned a Gen 3, Gen 4, and currently a Gen 5 with 220k miles. I don't see myself going to a Gen 6. Vehicles today all seem to remind me of movie sets- really nice facade's but when you take a peek behind the wall there's nothing there.
I’m waiting for the 7th gen, I heard it will be a 3cy turbo with cylinder deactivation hybrid with a cvt unibody front wheel drive only. I can’t wait to pay $100k for it.
I work as nurse and one the doctors at my job recently upgrade her Lexus for the new Land Cruiser and it does look all nice and shiny but only time will tell how long they’re gonna last. I’ll keep my dusty 3rd gen limited for now.
My pick would be a heritage blue SR5 with 3rd row and put on TRD OR wheels. If the green was available on SR5 then that would be my color. But honestly, I’m staying with my 2020 TRD ORP with KDSS.
Stopped by my local dealership the other day and their first one arrives in 20 days. Asked if I could put down a deposit on one and they said not yet. Check back in February.
TRDJohn So in ur opinion... Knowing that 4 cylinder turbos have been an ongoing problem also knowing how hybrid vehicles have been around for 20 years now, which runners do u think will have more problems? Turbos or the hybrids??
My opinion is neither. Toyota really shouldn't have issues with the new 4runner at this point. If this release isn't near perfect, then Toyota really should have delayed the 4runner another year and polish the platform. The Tacoma transmission issues better be resolved. The Land Cruiser 250 has been more/less trouble free for about a year. The T24A-FTS has been in production for about 4 years now. And Toyota is famous for making incredibly reliable hybrids. Mechanically, all the parts in the 4runner have been out for at least a year. I have money down for a Platinum. It seems like mechanically, it should be similar to the Tacoma limited and the Land Cruiser. I'm looking forward to the 2.4L turbo hybrid and plan to keep it for the next 10-15+ years. I'm currently on year 17 with my 2008 4runner.
@jensalan hybrid don't last that long... Isn't it like 5 to 10 grand per battery to change? I've seen so many articles of people spending 10s of thousandsof there own money to replace the battery cells on there hybrids/electric vehicles...... I believe hybrids and electric vehicles only have a shelf life of about 10 years because of the battery/cells... After that ur fucked
@joek1978atyahoo This isn't an EV with a 100kwh lithium ion battery. Toyota doesn't use that battery chemistry in their hybrids. They use a very tiny 1.87kwh nickel-metal hydride battery in these. It's slightly more capacity than a normal 12v car battery. For context, the hybrid battery in a 2003 Prius is about $1300-$1500, uses the same chemistry battery, and over 7x larger (13.6kwh). With labor, I've seen it done at a Toyota dealer for around $2250. But usually around $2700. I have to imagine the 4runner/tacoma/LC batteries are going to cost just a few hundred dollars and with where they are located, it's incredibly easy to access. I'm guesstimating around $500. And if that's every 10 years, that's nothing.
There is no problem with that 4 cylinder, it's been used for almost 3 years now. It's a more simpler design than the Tundra v6 turbo, and has the many of the design and features of the proven reliability of the 2.5L A25 engine from the Camry/RAV4.
I have one main concern with the new 4Runner vs. old 4Runner: visibility. Please, let us know your opinion on if the visibility is worse (or better??) out of the new 4 Runner. It seems much worse, as the windshield has much more rake, the dash is higher, and the radio screen sits so far up on the dash.
maybe you know the question... when we were in Hawaii we were seeing some really nice colors... when we got back to the mainland I started to look for the colors and they aren't on the mainland...... just wondering why Hawaii has a different color selections

I am excited to see it . The new gx I see weekly those are sweet looking cars . However I am at peace with my 5th gen . Obviously not luxury but does everything I want . Plus the whole hybrid thing is just uh .
You’d be insane to pay a markup on any of these. They’ll be discounted and piling up on lots by the end of 25 just like the Tacoma. My dealer has a black 2024 TRD pro that has sat on their lot for months. They just took $1,500 off sticker and it’s not moving.
Tacomas with the iForce Max have been pretty good when it comes to reliability - and 465 ft/lb of torque and 375 hoursepower is a lot better than the old 4-liter 6 cylinder.
Yea but they are being shipped directly to the dealer service bays so their engines can be rebuilt before sale. It’s more efficient than having the customer bring them in a year later.
