For anyone wondering why Anduin blames his best friend for his father's death the logic goes like this. Wrathion was partially responsible for the whole Warlords of Draenor time-travelling fiasco, which led to alternate Guldan living, which led to him creating a portal for the Burning Legion to invade Azeroth, which led to Legion. Which led to Varian trying to solo two current content raid bosses. Which led to him dying. So yeah, Wrathion failed in the best friend department.

thanks! i dont really know this time travel part, maybe because i skipped wod? i went through the dark portal once which led me to draenor, but i was already 120 and i didnt really care what was going on there. but now im curious. if i do quests there (starting by khadgar) do i get answers?
Protecsions I’d recommend reading the novel War Crimes and the short story Hellscream, they set up why WoD even happens and are very good reads, alternatively checking out Nobbel’s great lore videos. There isn’t too much explanation in the game about how AU Draenor is connected to Azeroth and why The Iron Horde is invading, but I’ll explain the time travel part at least:
AU Draenor in WoD is an alternate timeline 35 years behind our time and is different in some ways, such as there being no AU Garrosh.
Garrosh is taken there by a power hungry bronze dragon called Kairoz, using an artifact that Kairoz created, for reasons explained in Hellscream mostly, but kills Kairoz. After convincing AU Grommash to create the Iron Horde and build a Dark Portal, he uses Kairoz’s artifact to connect the AU Portal not only through space, but also time to Azeroth’s Dark Portal, making it red and allowing them to invade with an army
So there I was, sitting in my throne room, when all of a sudden, WRATHION appears!
I said to myself: *I'm gonna punch that dragon in the face!*

One of the interesting things about this cinematic is Wrathions eyes. His are still glowing, which perhaps indicates that the powers of the earthwarder are still active, unlike the other dragon aspects.

well if the dragon aspects used their powers up while fighting deathwing then their power should be gone while deathwing's can still possibly be passed down through his bloodline?

Ebonhorn, or Ebysian, in Legion showed champions ancient memories in Highmountain, so he would have to be incredibly old, unless those weren't his own memories. But since he is over 10,000 years old, that would make him older than Wrathion and he should be the rightful heir to the mantle of Earthwarden. It would make sense, as they are both from Deathwing

One of the things I love about this...is Wrathion's body language. If you pay attention, the way his arms are positioned, it looked like he was expecting a hug. An actually HUG! And the smirk he has after Anduin punches him, like he's so proud of Anduin for actually hitting him. God I hope they do more scenes between these two in the future after Shadowlands.
I just really like the ship they have.
Like I know we've seen previous Dragons trying to intermingle with humans and other races, but this feels slightly different.

Okay, even setting aside all the shipping wishes that Blizzard would never actually fulfill... their dynamic is truly heartbreaking.
Wrathion knows how badly he screwed up. He takes the punch without any sign of anger. He tries to empathize with the experience of losing a father. He calls Anduin an old friend, even when he's only met with disdain. And when he snaps Anduin out of his vision, he sounds genuinely concerned.
Meanwhile, Anduin has changed, perhaps more that Wrathion anticipated. He's not the idealistic, peaceful teen he was when they met in Pandaria. He's been hardened by the loss of his father, and by the struggles of ruling. He's barely an adult, and yet the fate of the world hinges on his decisions. And now here he is, suddenly confronting someone who is both a reminder of his younger self and a logical target of blame for the trials he and his people have since faced.
Perhaps that punch was influenced by N'zoth, but if it wasn't... it's not hard to understand where it came from. And it's clear that Wrathion understands too.
Hopefully, they can fix their friendship or at least cooperate long enough to stop the threat of the Old God... but nothing is going to be the same as it once was. Their sunny days of witty banter over tea and board games are long gone.
He admitted he was not acting as himself at the end, so there is hope!

Its from N'zoth's influence. The cinematic pretty much spelled it out for you that his influence causes you to act out in ways that are contrary to your nature. Its why his personality had such a drastic change in this one cinematic alone.

Consider his Legion garn as his... "Casual" wear when he's seeing to matters of state (and a way from battle). In most kingdoms its traditionally inappropriate to wear your FULL suit of armor at all times as well as it being probably uncomfortable after a few hours (or every single day for a year).

I do like that the punch and accusation was mostly because N'zoth was already messing with Anduin's head. He's cranky and looks like he has a headache right at the start. Sure Wrathion DID play a part in Gul'Dan showing up with the Legion. But I'm still not sure Anduin would flat out say that stuff if he was in control of his mind without N'Zoth poking around.

Time for Anduin to respec Shadow.
It's insteresting that just now Anduin is the king. He's a priest, and he's specialized in the mind and can also use the same shadow magic that N'zoth uses. It can be used to create a pretty insteresting story more if Varian was still king, as a warrior would need something to attack.
Blizz really didn't have to make Wrathion look THIS hot... and here we are.

The old gods are messing with the priests, including Anduin, the look as he looks at his clenched fist realising even he is being corrupted/manipulated by N'zoth. He's never quick to anger i feel like this expansion isn't the last we will see of the old gods, Anduin will surely be tested again by the dark powers of the agents of the void lords.
Who else thinks that Wrathion is secretly in love with anduin..? XD
