Chinese is the largest visible minority in metro vancouver , East indians Punjabi is the 2nd largest visible minority and also the largest east Indian community on earth out side of India, Filipinos from the philippines is the 3rd largest visible minority,
They kicked all the homeless and drug addicts to the old Chinatown, trying to kill it after the previous attempt to murder with lack of service failed and it ended up being very vibrant. Its been abandoned because of the situation in downtown Eastside. Basically if whites want it,they can have it. People just cut their losses and moved out to Richmond.
I just discovered it I read that the same company that owns the center also owns some Chinese Radio and or TV Stations in Canada, suddenly I saw a room with reflective glass and bright lights inside and there she was Thanks for the comment my friend
If you get a chance, you should take a video of the inside of Parker Place. In fact, all along No 3 Rd is the whole Chinatown. Personally, I refer to the place more as "Hong Kong Town" because much of it was built by the Hong Kong population boom in the 1990s. Nowadays, there's more mainland Chinese moving to the area.
i love authentic Asian food and so when I smell the ginger and the spiced steam in the old Chinatown my mouth gets a watering:) thank for the compliment but google is more comprehensive lol :)
do you remember the old Aberdeen centre that used to sit on that site? it was a one level mall that was really cramped like parker place, and it had a bowling alley has a draw, i don't think it was even 10 years old when they demolished it, which seemed crazy at the time and they rebuilt it into what we have today
many Chinese settled in Vancouver at the turn of the century, my grandfather told me many were traveling through North America on their way to work Labor for the 1st World War,I think there are many factors of the larget Asian population in Metro vancouver
@michaelarnold13 I took a vacation there. I flew into Seattle. Drive up. Loved the city. Seen that steam clock and all. Yes, I travel as much as I can when ever possible. =)
I do not speak Chinese either. But I love all Asian people. I am pleased they have done well in Canada. I have been trying to move back to Canada since 1994. Law Firm and Superior Court embezzled my $1 Billion and I can not afford to leave Spokane, WA yet. Maybe in 2018 I can return home?
Nice new Aberdeen Center, where is the old one now? I was study in Vancouver in the early 90's, so I had visited the old one with lot of memories there.
i just did a search on Parker AT .ask.com/wiki/ Parker_Place i did see a number of Asian malls along # 3 road and yes that whole area is Chinese The guy I spoke to at the Lamborgini store said there are many Mainland Chinese here with money now as oposed to just the Hong Kong people before all interesting local history and new Vancouver culture, its great living in a multicultural city with very good racial tolerance
in my Hispanic shopping mall, Asians have put some restaurants despite the fact no one invited them, so I think it's only fair that I am allowed to put one Mexican theme restaurant in this shopping mall, if not I will call this mall racist.
I came here from melbourne in sep 2019. Very big good mall.
there are a lot of Koreans living in Coquitlam (a subrurb of Vancouver)
Vancouver is very diverse, people tend to blend in and dont need to group off
Diverse in a good way

I hope the development is more into "Chinatowns" as opposed to China-malls. We have two major ones here in NYC.
thank you my friend
Wow, there is indeed a lot of money there. $440,000 for a car! It's amazing they actually sell any. Another great tour, Michael. Thanks for sharing!
out in Richmond there are loads of China Malls
Im sad that whats left of the orginal old settlment is decaying and shrinking

Nice, but why are there so many Asians in Vancouver?
really ? when were you here ? your not from Van are you ?

Couldn't we just make an AsianTown? All Asian cultures, restaurants, and stores, all in one mall / area...
come on down ;)
