A good way to spend time during the quarantine--floating a ship in a bottle! I learned how to do this from "Ships in Bottles" by Guy DeMarco, Schiffer Publishing Ltd., 1985. Music credit: "Echoes" by Pink Floyd
@@douglasnadel1028 I do it with clay. After forming the sea I will take a small amount of wht or blue clay on my spreading tool and press into the dark blue clay then I smear it. I remember Bill Alexander (Magic of Oil Painting) saying you have to have dark to show light. So a little goes a long way.
The wooden "trestle" comes from the book I reference in the description above. It's basically just a cross of wood, about 12" long and 4-5" wide. The model gets screwed in from underneath at one end. At the other end, on the cross piece, are a bunch of nails to wrap the strings around and hold them. A bunch of small screw eyes in front of and under the ship can help keep the lines separated.
post a video step by step of the construction. Congratulations for your work . Hugs here from Brazil.
I’m triggered by the borderline alcoholic remark 😅🙅🏻♀️🙆🏻♀️. Excellent work
This is a art ! All my childhood I wonder, how they put the big boat inside a bottle??? Cheers from Romania East Europe !
Excellent job sir
I like making the sea a bit rough and use white and light blue to make whit caps. It gives depth and action to the sea. Nice job!
Do you do that with clay, or paint?

Best song!

Do you have any video of how you made the template board to hold all the string and ship in place
