So it's actually easy ... How large is your range? Eli: I'm a tenor, who sings baritone. J: I'm a baritone, who sings tenor. Layne: Bsssss-dum. Geoff: yes. Rachel: 🤷🏽♀️
I think it's more like: How large is your range? Geoff, Eli, J: yes Layne: performs Rush's Tom Sawyer by himself using only his voice. Then Earl stops by again and sings something only dogs can hear. Then Rachel says "hold my beer"
Nah, that slide only covers about two thirds of his range. (It stops in octave 2, not because Geoff can't go lower, but because there wasn't enough time before he had to break off and sing the next thing). If you actually want to know Geoff's range, just watch the last 10 seconds of Oogie Boogie song. Granted, the slide here is very impressive in its own way, not least because it's a _slide_ and also because it's very rapid.
Geoff (the bass) is pronounced Jeff. Eli (bald guy, tenor) pronounced Elly as in belly. Acapella groups like this are definitely best experienced with good headphones so you can pick up all the bass and vocals at their best! All their members have an amazing range, none of them are limited to their vocal "label". Layne Stein is the beatboxer, he also arranges a lot of their songs and also sings. Geoff also arranges a lot of their songs. A very multitalented group of people :) Geoff has a near 5 octave range, and has both tenor, bass and basso profundo range :) Eli is tenor 2, but has tenor 1, baritone and bass range. J.None is baritone, but has bass range and tenor range. Layne the beatboxer is also baritone, but has tenor and bass range with the help of various techniques.

Rachel Potter has played Ariel live for Disney, so she is very familiar with the character. Geoff (pronounced "Jeff") has a natural bass-baritone range, can singe down to F1 in chest voice, but very good for using subharmonics that go even lower, while also having a 5 octave range into high tenor. The baritone doing lead on "Under The See" is J. None; he has an impressive range, as well. The guy in yellow, Eli, has an interesting voice that hangs out in tenor a lot, while he can cover baritone and bass, as well. Layne Stein is the beatboxer, while he can sing very well, too. Very talented people.
@@Iansco1, not even close. Geoff's lowest note every is a C#1. An Eb0 would have a frequency of 19.4Hz; outside the normal hearing of 90% of the population. Even if you had the hearing to pick it up, the resolution on TH-cam wouldn't reproduce it, the best headphones wouldn't either, and, even then, you wouldn't be able to hear it.
The sort of big 3 popular a capella groups (in my experience) are pentatonix, home free, and voice play. From what I've seen of each of them, you basically can't go wrong checking any and/or all of them out!
I'd add the 4th big acapella name in here with Voctave. However, they have more of a choral sound since their group member rate is higher and their emphasis is more often on their sopranos than their basses. However, they have a classic in their "Great Movie Medley." I'm just saying...
@@allykeefe8018 Maybe not quite as big as the other 3 but definitely on the TH-cam acapella map. "Disney Love Medley" featuring Kirsten Maldonado from Pentatonix and her then-fiance Jeremy Michael Lewis went viral several years ago. Have followed them since. Check out their versions of "O Come, All Ye Faithful," "The Star-Spangled Banner," "The Great Movie Medley" and "Mary, Did You Know?" Their soprano, Kate Lott, is one of the most talented I've ever heard; see how effortless her final note is in "Mary, Did You Know?" They also do several Disney Medleys that are phenomenal. And all with no beatboxer, which you don't even realize isn't there unless you pay close attention because it doesn't seem to detract from their performances or arrangements (and I love beatboxing, especially in acapella groups). The group is from the Orlando, FL area and were/still are part of the Voices of Liberty performing at one of the theme parks there.
@@wendischambach6181 My favorite comparison is considering all the acapella groups as high school after school clubs. Pentatonix is the Chorus kids, Voiceplay are the theater kids, Home Free are the Football team, and Voctave are all the high school chorus teachers together. :D
4 of the best acapella group and my favourite's. voiceplay, home free, pentatonix and voctave.. Thank you danielle for reacting to voiceplay 👍 continue on reacting to voiceplay. Please. 😍
From Pentatonix, Kirstie has performed with Voctave, and Avi has performed with Home Free (Disney Love Medley and Ring of Fire, respectively) - Both would make fine introductions to those groups whom (given your reaction to this) Danielle will adore.
Geoff has a 5 octave range including his sub-harmonic ... one of the best ones to see geoff's range is there version of "the oogie boogie song" from the nightmare before Christmas. also on Geoff's channel he has a few videos about singing base and how to learn the sub harmonic
I did theater with Jodi Benson years ago. We did a few musicals together. She was very nice and easy to talk to. We all knew she would make it big. She even told us that she got a part as arial in little mermaid. She couldn't tell us too much about it though.
Wonderful reaction and analysis! Layne Stein is the beatboxer - he and Geoff (the bass) usually do all of VoicePlay's arrangements. They also do all of their own production, including video editing, set design, etc. They're my favourite a cappela group and definitely worth exploring more. 😊 Their Frozen II and Moana medleys are also great ones! Oh - and Geoff Castellucci has his own solo channel where he releases bass covers. He has a 4+ octave range, which is amazing. Sixteen Tons is a great one of his.
Layne Stein, who did this arrangement, is the beatboxer (the crazy French chef here). Most often it’s he or Geoff Castellucci, the bass (Ursula here), who does their arrangements, although Eli, the 2nd tenor (guy in yellow) recently arranged their cover of Beatles’s “Eleanor Rigby”. Their 1st tenor left the group last year, so they’re currently looking for a new. All the members in this group have crazy ranges, nearly 5 octaves.
Hi Danielle, Rachel also featured in the Moana Medley as well. Like everyone in the comments are saying. The Oogie Boogie Song is a must, if you want to hear Geoff (pronounced Jeff) sing sub-harmonics (I guarantee that you will be busy picking your jaw off the ground). They also did Mr Grinch!, and Frozen 2 Medley with Adriano Arellano.
@@WelcomeApathy yes, I know that Adriana was 16 and 15 when she performed these 2. Which makes them even more impressive. And she's got a fantastic voice. Maybe I should have added this info to my previous comment.
Layne (the beatboxer) and Geoff (the bass) tend to do most of their arrangements, although Eli (bald, glasses, Tenor 2) has started doing arrangements as well. Their arrangements are part of why I adore this group so much; there is such creativity in their work. And you aren't wrong about the ranges of every member- I don't think there is anyone in that group whose range is anything less than unearthly. Eli has been known to pick up bass lines when Geoff is soloing. And as impressive as Geoff's range is, Layne's range is actually pretty much the same (and even broader if you include some of the sounds he can create through ingressive phonation). VoicePlay is by far my favorite a cappella group; they are all immensely skilled and ridiculously creative, but I think what puts them ahead of the rest is the sheer joy that comes through their performances. To many artists take themselves so seriously as to forget to have fun with what they are doing. VoicePlay is always having fun, and it shows through in their performances. It's also impressive to note that they produce nearly everything in their videos themselves- Eli does lighting, Geoff and Layne do directing and editing, they source their own locations and costuming etc. It's pretty amazing; the only things I've noticed them subbing out are makeup, final sound engineering, camera work and occasionally they will get assistance in arranging, particularly for female vocalists. These guys are the complete performance package, and I am HERE FOR IT.
More background - the group was started by Geoff and Layne back when they were in school. They had another who you'll see in videos up until last summer, Earl, who was a 1st tenor. He left and they've been collabing with different people since. Eli joined the group over 10 years ago. J joined several years ago, after another member, Tony, left. You'll see Tony in their older videos, he did lead in their The Phantom of the Opera also with Rachel. He left to start his own production company Pattycake Productions, with Layne (who stayed in the group). They do the Villains Lair series, which is super fun. The guys of VP have shot several of their videos at the Pattycake studio. They're all so talented. I cannot wait to see you react to more VP and Geoff. Please react to My Mother Told Me, one of their newest ones. They collabed with a current member of Rockapella.
I'm having goosebumps seeing you having goosebumps Coach. But indeed, Voice-Play is a great acapella group with highly-skilled people in it. Their covers are so much fun. Thanks for reacting to this one, so glad you found this group and hope you react to more of their songs/covers. Cheers! #subscriptionsquad
Awesome reaction! Voiceplay is the jam. I just recently started listening to them myself. I am excited for you going down this particular rabbit hole. Now go listen to Voctave for more vocal perfection. I never get tired of people saying the same things... "Why has no one ever told me about them". Well I'm telling you now. Just do it! Go get your mind BLOWN! They are all current or former singers for Disney. Voiceplay, Home Free, Pentatonix and others, while all awesome in their own right, Voctave is the gold standard for a cappella. Trust!!!
Please, please, please do more Voiceplay reactions. Also if you are into acapella, look up Home Free and Voctave as well. Your mind will be blown with everything they all can do.
You loved the bass Geoff. He has a TH-cam Channel and he has a lot of solo songs on it. You should check it out so you'll be more impressive about his range
Great Reaction Danielle!! so insightful and your enthusiasm was contagious in the best way...Geoff Castellucci is actually a space alien temporarily visiting earth where his incredible voice stuns people for short period of time. I think I heard on another reactors channel that they estimated he had about a stunning 4 1/2 octave range with beautiful natural voice quality across the entire range....just freaking unbelievable. You check out some of his solo work covers, Blackbird, 16 Tons, where he accompanies himself wonderously...and of course get the Oogie Boogie song he'll blow your mind
Eli (pronounced like ellie) in yellow is the tenor J. None in red is the baritone Geoff (pronounced like jeff) in purple is the base. And he has a 5 octave range. Layne in white is the beatboxer. Those are the parts they typically sing but they all have crazy ranges. VoicePlay is a much more theatrical group than Pentatonix. Geoff and Layne do their arrangements.
In this track they doubled themselves quite a lot. This is different for every song they cover. Some are basically them singing one track from beginning to end. In this one they tried to increase the complexity quite a bit. Danielle: How large is Geoffs range? Geoff: yes.
For the full monte of Geoff and his amazing range do look at his solo efforts of 16 Tons and The Headless Horseman. Amazingly fun to experience and they showcase his unbelievable voice. All of Voiceplay are superb talents and you were delightful to watch react to them. Full Voiceplay performing Oogie Boogie is also a must.
Voiceplay has been around a little while. When they competed on the TV Singoff (where PTX and Home Free found their ways to stardom), they had six members including a female lead singer, but for a while now they've just been five guys. They had one other personnel change about five years ago. So, from that time up until 2020, they were: Earl Elkins Jr. [kinda heavy guy]: high tenor Eli [pronounced "Ellie"] Jacobson [bald guy]: low tenor Jesse Nunn (prefers to be called JNone) [Black guy]: baritone Geoff [pronounced "Jeff"] Castellucci: bass Layne Stein: vocal percussion, occasional singing, occasionally plays violin, does arrangements But, as you mention, they have wide ranges. So, that's who you'll see in most of their older vids. Earl left the group in early 2020. He hasn't yet been permanently replaced. So, between that and COVID19, Voiceplay has been doing vids with various guest artists, male and female, in the fifth spot. Also, Geoff has started doing music vids this last year on his own YT channel. So far, he has seven. In most of them, he sings all the parts himself. In Oogie Boogie's Song (with Voiceplay) and in Blackbird (on his own channel), he hits an E1. JNone is an associate of vocal coach and reactor Tara Simon. He also works with Disney. And he, too, has his own YT channel. NOTE... He just posted on YT yesterday, and I just discovered it today, that he's joining the Navy as a vocal musician. He's leaving for Boot Camp on May 13. So now, Voiceplay is down TWO positions. But of course, we still have all the existing material on YT. Plenty of rabbit hole to go down. If you start reviewing their stuff regularly, you'll pick up some new subscribers.
Oh, you are just getting started on the Geoff journey? I'm SO coming along for the ride. Do his "Sixteen tons" and then do what you might think is the climax with voiceplay on "oogie boogie song" but then leave yourself speechless with voiceplay on their newest song "my mother told me". #SubscriptionSquad
Barely made it half way, and loving your enthusiasm, excitement, and genuine surprise at Geoff's amazing range, and the rest of the band being absolutely amazing. I am definitely subscribing, and I hope to see more Voiceplay on your channel. Especially, as I am sure has been mentioned, Oogie Boogie Song, and You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch. And I will have to browse your previous content, but if you haven't done Home Free or Pentatonix, then you are definitely about to enter a whole new world.
Danielle, from 6:54 to 7:23 there was no sound so I have no idea what you said during those 29 seconds. Since you said you only know Pentatonix, PLEASE start reacting to Home Free. The usual 1st song is Man Of A Constant Sorrow. They won Sing Off the season after Pentatonix. Their fans are called Home Fries. Their Bass singer, Tim Foust has a range of 5 Octaves. His low has rattled speakers. And you can hear him & Pentatonix's Avi Kplan in Home Free Ring Of Fire that says Feat Avi Kaplan.
Everyone else already talked about their names so, check out Voiceplay doing My Mother Told Me or their cover of Imagine Dragon's Warriors if you really want to be blown away.

OMGggggg I just watched your reaction videos just today! and I'm pretty hooked rn... I REALLY LOVED YOUR REACTIONS 🤩😭 this is one of the best reactions I've ever seen, you're very keen to every detail on how artists play their own styles when they're singing and giving beautiful, very true remarks..... you're sooo awesome and talented, i wanna see more of your videos in the future 🤍🤍🤍
Hi Danielle! Glad to see you landed in the acapella world! VoicePlay is my favorite acapella group, with Home Free a very close second. I hope you will keep on reacting to VoicePlay! I recommend "The Oogie Boogie's Song" from A Nightmare Before Christmas, "Daddy Sang Bass" from Johnny Cash, "Queen in 5 min", "Boy Bands in 5 minutes" and "Just Sing". Make sure to have CC ON for Just Sing. To be honest, anything and everything they have done is great!!
Geoff is a true natural bass and has one of the biggest ranges I've seen. It is clear and effortless in all the areas he sings there's videos gaging his lowest and highest notes
Welcome to VoicePlay Danielle! Loads of fun and outstanding performances to come your way. Geoff Castellucci (Bass) posted a two part tutorial titled "How to sign really low", in which he describes his voice and training methods used to perfect his lower register. Part Two is more extensive than One. Definitely worth a listen. I have always enjoyed your reactions. Clear and to the point.
It’s always fun to see people’s first ever reactions to these acapella groups. Looks like everyone has filled u in pretty good on Voiceplay and I totally agree with - please do Oogie Boogie Song next :) if ur familiar with Pentatonix then ur probably aware of them winning their season of the Sing Off. Home Free won the following season and Voiceplay was 6th I believe that same year. So don’t forget to check out some Home Free also cuz we love em all. Keep em coming cuz we love ur reactions too.
I totally get your "Why haven't I heard of them before" I only found out about them a month ago after finding Geoff. I have listened to them daily since then ! lol they are such an amazing group and I can't believe they have been doing for ten years!!
Geoff is a true basso profundo. If you really want to experience his range, watch their cover of the "Oogie Boogie Song" from Nightmare Before Christmas. Geoff is the lead singer as Mr. Oogie Boogie. He flies up into the rafters with his tenor chops, but crashes through the basement floor into sub harmonics. Definitely worth the listen.
He is NOT a basso profundo. If you can blast an C2 over an orchestra then yes you are a basso profundo and if you can blast easily a E2 over an orchestra then you’re a regular bass. He is a light bass baritone, cus I doubt he without a mic, over an orchestra could sing lower than a F#2 or an F2 at best.
Voiceplay's My Mother Told Me will blow your mind!! Another acapella group to check out is Home Free. Their bass, Tim Foust, has a 5 octave range. If you check out home free start with the live version of Ring of Fire from The Sing Off.
Geoff? ie Jeff, you need to hear some of his solo stuff ie Blackbird, 16 tons, Take Me Home Country Roads and The Headless Horseman. You need to check on the group Home Free who are friends with PTX
Glad you checked them out. Geoff makes bass covers and you need to hear them. They pack a punch. Warning his voice makes chest and body hair grow super lush. I look like a posh big foot. Geoff specs - Range *Yes* (All) Let me try again... Range - C#1-A5 could be incorrect since they update it the second someone hears them yawn and accidentally hit the lowest note ever or a sneeze that somehow hit a 8th octave note.
So many other great acapella groups out there... Home Free, Voctave, Straight No Chaser, Street Corner Symphony, Citizen Queen... Plus the college national championships for 2021 just happened, lots of great performances there too... Great college groups abound as well, just keep looking around. Don't be limited!!
Actually Danielle!! The bass Geoff pronounces Jeff. The baritone in the yellow is Eli who pronounces his name Elie from his real name Eliezer Jacobson. J none is the other baritone on the right in brown. Rachel in the middle. Layne is the beat boxer vocals front left. Great reaction sweet Danielle!!🤗🦄
Geoff's comfortable range is A1-A5, but he's gone down to E1 in subharmonics, and he's actually forced out an F#1 in chest voice a couple times. Man has mad range.
Ok :D New here, first off, I adored your reactions! Second, yellow shirt is Eli (L-E is how you say it), white shirt is Lane--he's also the drums, Leather jacket is J-None, and Ursula is Geoff (Jeff)
Omg I’ve been waiting for you to discover voiceplay!! As you now know they are incredible!! I look forward to many more reactions as anything they have done is worth reacting to!! More importantly though you have discovered Geoff Castelluci!! He has many solo covers on his own channel and I can’t stress enough how much you need to react to them all!! I would love to see you react to his cover of blackbird the most though!!
Range songs for Voice Play: Oogie Boogie Song for Geoff ( the bass ), I will Survive for Eli ( Bald gentleman in the yellow shirt ), Tennessee Whiskey For J None ( Red jacket on the right side ). Any of those will give you an idea of the level of talent in the group.
You really must hear other VoicePlay songs (Ooggie Boogie, My Mother Told Me). Geoff also has its own YT channel where he talks and covers songs (Sixteen Tons is amazing). Would be lovely to add to your to do list: Nightwish (The Greatest Show On Earth, Ghost Love Score, The Phantom of the Opera in 2 versions, Yours is an Empty Hope), Epica (Sancta Terra, The Phantom Agony, Adyta+Sensorium). Quite interesting and popular is also live session Jinjer - Pisces and Kamelot (Elizabeth I, II, III). Great reaction, hope to see more! :)
Loved the reaction! Please react to Home Free in the future as well! They won The Sing Off season 4 right after Pentatonix and have an amazing bass as well
I love watching you try to figure out who each one is by their voice. Hilarious! You are so fun to watch. Guy in yellow - Eli, leather jacket - J-None (recently left the group), bow tie - Layne, and of course blue guy - The incredible Geoff who has a 5 octave range. To really hear Geoff's range you need to watch The Oogie Boogie Song by Voiceplay or his cover of Blackbird or the Headless Horseman.
I enjoyed your reaction very much. In another life, I also participated in vocal and choral work. I really miss it - but reactors like you have given me a new look at singing. You should also see the Disney Princess Medley from Voctave. I think you'll be quite impressed. Also, look at some work by Home Free. They do some very fine work as well. I have always liked acapella, but the last few years have given me much to be happy about.
Geoff has a 5 octave range. Listen to their rendition of oogie boogies song from the Nightmare before Christmas. And also listen to Geoff sing The Headless Horseman solo. You will be impressed
For something else with Rachael and also a capella, you should definitely check out Voctaves poor unfortunate souls and I put a spell on you mashup. It’s great and Rachael sings Ursala’s part in that funny enough
Home Free is my favorite vocal group you must check out! Their vocal ranges are stunning! (4-5 octaves) Their rhythm section (2 basses, and percussionist’ who can sing gorgeous tenor harmonies and sing so low they rumble eardrums. The two tenors have crazy ranges too. My favorite member the percussionist is appropriately called Freak of Nature, does things that blow me away with his percussion, and sings stunning tenor harmonies when they sing 5 part vocals!
Yeah Voiceplay is an amazing group! Geoff Castellucci’s solo stuff is amazing as well. Dude has a crazy range as a super low bass. Another Acapella group with another amazing bass is Homefree whos bass Tim Foust has actually worked with Geoff on sub harmonics! Great reaction!
Geoff (pronounced Jeff) Castelucci has his own channel where he shares a lot of things including solo covers like Tennessee Ernie Ford's "16 tons". VoicePlay also covered a Moana Medley as well as several tunes from "A Nightmare Before Christmas". One from that movie "The Oogie Boogie Song" Geoff shows off his range from B4 to E1. Eli (pronounced like Ellie) is dressed like Flounder. J Note is the Sebastion in this video. Lane is the beatbox though Geoff also does some and they all help with percussive elements in other songs they do
Danielle, you were wanting to hear Geoff's full range his personal channel he sings Black Bird by The Beetles and that shows off just about if not all of his easily 5 octave range.
Layne, the arranger, is also the beatboxer. They have some other great songs worth checking out as well. If you really want to see the range of Geoff, the bass, watch their cover of Oogie Boogie's Song. Their Moana Medley is also really good. Such a talented group.
if you're a disney fan they do a moana medley, again with rachel. she's also featured in their phantom of the opera video. another great acapella group is home free, their bass is the deepest out there right now, he's hit a B0 growl in some of their videos. voiceplay and home free have a "sing off" called zombies vs hillbillies that is a lot of fun. if you have never listened to Voctave, their disney princess medley is absolutely unparalleled
Geoff bass singer 5 octaves range. Oogie boogie cover, moana medley and my mother told me. Epic songs all. Also since you asked 😜. Back row left to right Eli (pronounced ell-ee) i think baritone with tenor range, rachel potter, j-non baritone, bottom row layne beatbox/baritone i think, geoff bass singer who can comfortably reach tenor and uses vocal fry and subharmonics for crazy inhuman sounds (the kind i can only produce after a good curry and i aint singing then). In older videos you will also see a buff guy with or without epic beard. Hes a former member named earl with a laser like tenor
You have some amazing music to catch up on. Voiceplay has a lot of fun with these theatrical videos. They also do more serious ones. You may want to check out Home Free as well, another incredible a cappella group. Oh and if you like the bass in this, the singer, Geoff Castellucci, has some great solos where he does all the parts. Why not when one has 5+ octaves to work with.
They are dope, and you are great in deconstructing their work. Ooooh, you’ve seen nothing about Geoff: Oogie Bogey’s Song and all his solo works are sonic gold.

Fixing the issue with no sound half way in! Not sure what happened but it will be fixed soon!
It would be hilarious if the algorithm decided to mute copyright sections and muted you by accident. You are obviously a menace to copyright law.
Layne also did their Moana Medley.
I would like to add that Adriana Arellano was also in the Mr Grinch video as well.
I love the grinch one! Geoffs voice is awesome in that one (as usual) and it’s such a fun video
@@leonardsimmers9158 And she was only 16 years old in it! (15 when she did the Frozen II Medley with them.)
@@WelcomeApathy yes, I know that Adriana was 16 and 15 when she performed these 2. Which makes them even more impressive. And she's got a fantastic voice. Maybe I should have added this info to my previous comment.
Rachel was also in their cover of “Kidnap the Sandy Claws.”
My favorite part of VoicePlay reactions is the inevitable point where Geoff's voice makes the reactor melt like butter, lol.
I second everything you said! You have highlighted what makes them my favorite group. They are just so talented, it's crazy!
You should check out their cover of BANG!
Cheers!

Nice reaction! You should definitely do more VoicePlay, and some of Geoff Castellucci's solo work.
"I love that they started with the low note"... -she has no warning for what is about to happen to her-
You loved the bass Geoff. He has a TH-cam Channel and he has a lot of solo songs on it. You should check it out so you'll be more impressive about his range
Welcome to the world of
VoicePlay and Geoff Castellucci 😊
I really like how you use everyone's full name during the reaction to let others know the credit they deserve.
having lunch while watching coach Danielle react to Voiceplay = perfect combination! 👏👏👍

#MEGAMAY
I was excited when I found them too. Your enthusiasm is infectious!
I am a fan of Voiceplay since highschool!!!
Eli (pronounced like ellie) in yellow is the tenor
J. None in red is the baritone
Geoff (pronounced like jeff) in purple is the base. And he has a 5 octave range.
Layne in white is the beatboxer.
Those are the parts they typically sing but they all have crazy ranges. VoicePlay is a much more theatrical group than Pentatonix. Geoff and Layne do their arrangements.
Also, adding to that. Eli sometimes replaces Geoff as a bass when Geoff currently sings the lead.
In this track they doubled themselves quite a lot. This is different for every song they cover. Some are basically them singing one track from beginning to end. In this one they tried to increase the complexity quite a bit.
Danielle: How large is Geoffs range?
Geoff: yes.
They tend to do more doubling for Disney; I think because Layne has more fun with the sound effects in the Disney).
So, from that time up until 2020, they were:
Earl Elkins Jr. [kinda heavy guy]: high tenor
Eli [pronounced "Ellie"] Jacobson [bald guy]: low tenor
Jesse Nunn (prefers to be called JNone) [Black guy]: baritone
Geoff [pronounced "Jeff"] Castellucci: bass
Layne Stein: vocal percussion, occasional singing, occasionally plays violin, does arrangements
But, as you mention, they have wide ranges.
Please react to more acapella groups like: Voctave, Home Free, Citizen Queen, and Acapop Kids
If you want see all of Geoffs range watch his solo cover of “Blackbird”. He sings all the parts himself and it is incredible!
Oh, yes, these are perfect recommendations!
Their new song my mother told me is a must watch
8:17 Danielle: "I wanna know how large his range is."
8:28 Geoff: YES.
I feel one song that is often overlooked by Voiceplay is their cover of Cant Help Falling in Love, it's such a beautiful rendition!
Thank you for commenting this!! I did not notice this during the live so let me see what the issue is!
May I introduce 'Home Free' to you? Another great a cappella group.
She needs to listen to their man of constant sorrow.
They just released a version of Travelin' Soldier
She needs to listen to Folsom prison blues also!!
if she does, she's not going to stop. everyone knows what happens once you start
Everyone else already talked about their names so, check out Voiceplay doing My Mother Told Me or their cover of Imagine Dragon's Warriors if you really want to be blown away.
you have such an angelic voice and your personality is just so bubbly and positive that it makes me want to binge watch your videos allllll daaaaay longggg! ❤ can't wait to see more of your reactions! ❤ #Subscriptionsquad
YES! Knew you would love this !!! They are amazing !!! :) :) :)
Great song, great reaction! Love it! More powers to you Danielle!!!! 😍😍😍
#subscriptionsquad
Geoff is a true natural bass and has one of the biggest ranges I've seen. It is clear and effortless in all the areas he sings there's videos gaging his lowest and highest notes
Welcome to VoicePlay Danielle! Loads of fun and outstanding performances to come your way. Geoff Castellucci (Bass) posted a two part tutorial titled "How to sign really low", in which he describes his voice and training methods used to perfect his lower register. Part Two is more extensive than One. Definitely worth a listen. I have always enjoyed your reactions. Clear and to the point.
Mr Grinch is an amazing one from them !!!
The Blackbird cover from Geoff will leave you speechless for days. :>
@@defnotaghost6460 well, you've certainly set me straight. I have been soundly corrected. Thank you. :)
Voiceplay's My Mother Told Me will blow your mind!! Another acapella group to check out is Home Free. Their bass, Tim Foust, has a 5 octave range. If you check out home free start with the live version of Ring of Fire from The Sing Off.
You should check out Home Free too.
Country acapella
Geoff? ie Jeff, you need to hear some of his solo stuff ie Blackbird, 16 tons, Take Me Home Country Roads and The Headless Horseman. You need to check on the group Home Free who are friends with PTX
Glad you checked them out. Geoff makes bass covers and you need to hear them. They pack a punch. Warning his voice makes chest and body hair grow super lush. I look like a posh big foot.
Geoff specs -
Range *Yes* (All)
Let me try again...
Great job. Suggest doing you’re a mean one mr. Grinch. Awesome lows by Geoff or my mother told me. They’re all really good
Actually Danielle!!
Ty!!
Scott, I have a feeling she was already able to identify which one was Rachel! 😉
This is the video that brought me to your channel!
Geoff's comfortable range is A1-A5, but he's gone down to E1 in subharmonics, and he's actually forced out an F#1 in chest voice a couple times. Man has mad range.
Forced?
Nice detail with "bass play the bass" and Geoff illustrating exactly that. And sorry, you stopped them just a second or two too early at the end.
"I want to find out just how large his range is!"
You're about to find out. XD
you should definitely Geoff's solo cover on Sixteen Tons
You should listen to their version of "my mother told me". Its brilliant!
Ok :D New here, first off, I adored your reactions! Second, yellow shirt is Eli (L-E is how you say it), white shirt is Lane--he's also the drums, Leather jacket is J-None, and Ursula is Geoff (Jeff)
i got the chills everytime you got the chills 😅 it's definitely infectious
13:59 She didnt see J-none doing Geoff's (i say its his because hes usually the bass) "sing it with me now"!
Did not expect you to sing Arial's part! Nice voice!
You really need to look into Geoffs TH-cam channel and react to Go The Distance by them too. Voiceplay is my favorite group by far
Danielle, it would be so funny for you to go back now and re-watch this video or react to this reaction as you have gotten to know Voiceplay more.
If you like Geoff's deep resonant low speaking voice, he reads stories on his channel like that. You are welcome.
8:18
"I wanna know what his range is"
Geoff: well let me show you!
8:27 he went from D5 to D1, that's 5 octaves
I’m excited for more reactions to them. They’re my favorite acapella group to date. Geoff has solo work if you’re interested.
I love your insight and breakdowns but I find myself completely distracted by your smile. So infectious!
Layne, the arranger, is also the beatboxer. They have some other great songs worth checking out as well. If you really want to see the range of Geoff, the bass, watch their cover of Oogie Boogie's Song. Their Moana Medley is also really good. Such a talented group.
Great reaction! The Voctave Disney Princess Medley is a must-react!
if you're a disney fan they do a moana medley, again with rachel. she's also featured in their phantom of the opera video. another great acapella group is home free, their bass is the deepest out there right now, he's hit a B0 growl in some of their videos. voiceplay and home free have a "sing off" called zombies vs hillbillies that is a lot of fun. if you have never listened to Voctave, their disney princess medley is absolutely unparalleled
Loved your reaction but loved your hair even more ❤
They are dope, and you are great in deconstructing their work. Ooooh, you’ve seen nothing about Geoff: Oogie Bogey’s Song and all his solo works are sonic gold.
Eli Jacobson | Tenor - (Pronounced Elly) Flounder
J.None | Baritone - Sabastian
Geoff Castellucci | Bass - (Pronounced Jeff) Ursula
Layne Stein | Drums/ Baritone - The Chef
