Thank you Tanner, you're a GEM. Im having trouble with dialing down the intensity, I feel like I need to be intense so my brain knows that healing is something we want and is important. When I feel like I'm less intense I worry I'm sending signals to my brain that recovery isn't important. This leads to feelings of exasperation and confusion. I know I need to take a step back and take my foot off the pedal as it's just pushing me further into fight or flight. None of this stuff is intuitive! It feels like you must do the complete opposite of what you 'think' is right. I'm learning and slowly internalising the concepts, it's my patience that keeps tripping me up! Your videos are vital in bringing a calm, guiding voice and always have something I need at that time.
Hi Tanner, I am new to the channel and podcast and finding the information to be spot on and very informative. I understand that the focus of your work and videos is chronic pain and symptoms. I am curious if you have a video on the relationship between chronic pain and chronic fatigue (ME/CFS)? In your clinical experience would you treat them the same way? Also, would love to have a video (maybe I haven’t found it yet) with ideas of how to create a morning and/or evening routine. What do you recommend for a morning hour (meditation, movement, workout, somatic work, etc)? And what would you recommend for evening time to wind down and maybe process how one’s nervous system functioned that day? I hope that makes sense. Thank you so much for your time and energy helping people with chronic pain. Hearing your story does give me hope.
Excellent video. I'm definitely going to try my best to slow down, especially my thinking (I can tell I'm going to find this really challenging though!). I have a question I've been wanting to ask for a long time, please. I'm constantly hearing that people like "us" live very much in our heads and not our bodies. I do get the first part of that but, if I don't live in my body, how do you explain the ongoing physical pain (in my bladder - 32 years, for example, among other things)? How is that not being in my body? Also, I do loads of physical activity and couldn't bear not to. My pain absolutely doesn't stop physical activity and never has done - I walk a lot every day and love playing table tennis and doing classes such as stretch, yoga, pilates etc. In addition, for years I've been aware of my breathing and often pick up on it when I need to slow it down or deepen it. So the point I'm making is that I feel very much aware of my body. Am I mistaken? I would so appreciate help in understanding this aspect as it just isn't clicking for me. Thanks in advance.
Good question! Yes we need to learn to be in our body and cultivate a felt sense of safety there. However, this is only one aspect of healing and some people need to focus here more. Also even with symptoms we can be in our body but not feel safe, so the goal would be to create safety. I hope this helps!
I found your channel today. You're amazing 🙏. I'm hoping I can make use of your practical suggestions to manage my chronic pain more effectively and thereby improve my quality of life. I live in a regional area of Australia where it's difficult to access services, and if you are able to access services the waitlists are long.
Thanks tanner❤❤ But please let me know how can i lower the intensity of thoughts as i have bundle of thoughts coming automatically to my mind and i can't even stop them.
This is great! So simple advice yet so effective. I’m always really tense moving fast trying to figure out what’s the next thing I need to do. But sometimes it’s better to just slow down and take a more relaxed approach to the day, maybe simplify or cut down some of the tasks we need to do
I probably should watch this video every day 😅 I don’t know why I rush-rush-rush through daily tasks, etc. Pretty sure no one cares if the dishes are put away or if I got through my work email inbox!!
This intensity issue is MASSIVE for me. I have to work on this constantly but I would say it’s profoundly life changing at regulating. Look forward to part 2! Thx Tanner
Great advice👏🏻. I did a Mindfulness activity in which we had to slow down our pace for one day. Afterwards, everything felt better, the body, the mind, attention.... If we're not aware and apply this "slowing down" we'll easily get trapped in a crazy rat race!!
The current state of political instability and unrest in this country (the US) makes living gently a much more challenging quest. The next 4 months between now and the November election look difficult, but I'm going to have to stop looking at the news and videos on the subject, while accepting that I have almost no control on outcomes other than voting and encouraging others to vote. The hip pain I thought I'd left behind years ago is flaring up amid all the turmoil here.
I can see chronic fear in me since a very young kid. Off topic, but i dont really understand how the symptoms and pain are 'normal' or 'safe signals', do u get what im asking ? How can the sensations be safe signals ? Thanks heaps 🙏🏽
Good questions. The sensations themselves are safe and are not an indication of damage or disease when the symptom is neuroplastic. Due to being in a state of survival the brain triggers the sensations even though the body is healthy. I hope this makes sense.
My back pain has caused loss of work last 15 months. Now I'm homeless and living in my car. I'm in constant fight or flight mode. Fear and stress being homeless is overwhelming me. Help!

Great video idea! I'm on it. Yes, generally I treat pain and fatigue similar in my practice. All the content on my channel would apply to both!
This was so helpful, I've recommended your videos to 2 people in my close friend group already.
Thanks for sharing. I'm so glad my content is helpful!

Again, very clear and helpful. Your videos are spot on and helping me. I'm doing a group PRT online -- we just started last week.
I'm so glad they are helpful! It's great you started a group!
Thanks a lot for this video Tanner. I recognise myself also in this lifestyle; thanks for sharing the information and fantastic recommendations.
I'm so happy it was helpful. Keep going!
When does the course open?
It is slightly delayed, but we are hoping to launch mid July. I will announce on the channel when it has launched!

That's a great activity!
Can you speak to basal canal syndrome and what to do to stop the episodes?
I'm so sorry to hear what you are dealing with. I unfortunately cannot be much help here, as I am not familiar with this condition.
Great video 😊
I'm so happy it was useful!
No financial stability can mess you up
So sorry to hear what you are dealing with.
