Lord help me, I cannot stop listening. In Flames is really back with a vengeance. I have always loved the clean vocals as much as the brutal ones. This is the perfect blend I thought I'd never see. March on strong guys. It's your time to shine blindingly bright again.
Album will be similar to a sense of purpose album so it will be at least decent but more likely great.

In Flames was so important to me while I was an adolescent.. Great to see them making this new work sounding like that Whoracle/Clayman era. I feel this like a real comeback!

Similar to Gyroscope or Jester Script Transfigured.
Wow, the parts where Anders growls over the melodic riffing takes me right back to the Jester Race, those parts are truly reminiscent of the folky greatness that was 90's In Flames. Didn't think I would ever hear them revisiting this style.

Memories of Colony and Clayman came back listening to their latest work, looking forward to this album.
Finally, this is inflatable redemption. Joking aside, this is very close to what I remember from Soundtrack to Your Escape, Reroute to Remain or Come Clarity. For me, the second best era of In flames, because for me the best era is from Lunar Strain to Clayman.

All these new singles sound like the stuff they wrote when Jesper was still in the band. Some of their best work since Clayman. Gives me a lot of hope that they're returning to their roots and they've gotten bored of the "radio metal" style they've been sticking with for the past decade or so. If this is the "great reset" for In Flames and they're about to go on a journey to rediscover their roots, I'm ALL for it. I've been patiently waiting for this for a long, long time. High hopes for the future.

Jesper was in the band for 4 more cds. Even he departed that style. I never understand the pining for Jesper when he was a part of the change in direction too
All I can do is go by off his statements since leaving the band and that's that combined with his substance abuse issues, he wasn't a fan musically of the direction the band was going in. He's said it on multiple occasions. He even did an interview recently where he said the new IF songs surprised him in a good way because of how old school they sounded compared to stuff like Battles.
The pining for Jesper is that he has a very strong sense of melody and phrasing in this genre of metal. I just like his style of writing, simple as that.

I don't know what to say about this... I'm blown away yet again by this return to roots and am getting my hopes up for the album to be a great one from In Flames! This might be In Flames' "The Sin And The Sentence" comeback era, where they go back to the roots and build up even better from there!
I was thinking the same thing lol, the album so far as a whole can compare to Triv’s TSATS in terms of its comeback feel. personally this track gives off a ‘Shadow of the Abattoir’ feel where this overall has like a mix of various era but if you were to day it was off of the Battles album i wouldnt doubt it
Good call. Although, I'll admit that Silence in the Snow was actually a pretty great one-off. Glad they left it at that, but only Vengeance actually sucked from Trivium.

Although I'll probably give a hot take and say that there are definitely some redeeming songs from Vengeance Falls that recalled the classic Trivium writing style and energy. Example: At The End Of This War, As I Am Exploding, and personally Strife. But structurally, Vengeance Falls wasn't the greatest Trivium album.

I’d say the best way of describing it is the best album since Jesper left because imo a sense of purpose is a really good album. It’s like the next logical step from come clarity because they drew on more of the acoustic sections from come clarity and evolved and expanded on them while still keeping the hard edge that they had before that.
always the same when they release that one song that is somewhat close to the old sound and then when the album drops, the rest of the songs are the same new trash

Dude I gotta say that the riffs on this particular set of new releases have been such a return to form that they pull at my heartstrings in a way that only a proper IF riff can do
you must have a pretty low threshold for "return to form". just because it has a short clean guitar riff doesn't mean "return to form". this is still very much modern Howard Benson-era In Flames. All for Me (Sounds of a Playground Fading) , Like Sand (Battles), and Follow Me (I the Mask) all had clean guitar riffs, but none reached remotely close to the heights of the Acoustic Medley or the interludes in, say, Moonshield or Jester Script Transfigured. this album is shaping up to be I the Mask part 2, and, by extension, Battles part 3. make of that what you will

@@LordofDiamondsMetal I´d recommend cleaning your ears if you think Foregone P1 and State of Slow Decay sound anything a like with I the Mask or Battles, these new songs are much heavier akin to 2000´s pre SOAPF In-Flames, with some 90´s melodies here and there, but not fully.
It´s okay if you think it´s the same thing, but pls don´t be one of those cunts that go out there to tell everyone in the comment section why is X song bad or not old-school enough.

Harmonized clean guitar and a half time groove does not old In Flames make. Yeah, Forgone part 1 and State of Slow Decay were fast and riffy, but they still sounded more like one of the faster songs from A Sense of Purpose or Come Clarity rather than the slower, more melodic style of old. And there have been fast, riffy songs on every In Flames album, modern and old - Everything's Gone, Through My Eyes, the title track from I the Mask, to name a few modern ones. So I don't have much expectation for the whole album to sound like the faster songs from A Sense of Purpose or Come Clarity
@@LordofDiamondsMetal I don’t get what makes you old IF fans idolize the 90s albums like the mixes weren’t absolute shit and the instruments were entirely way too loud and the vocals weren’t being flooded out by guitar and drums. Yeah musically they were better but I prefer this over those early albums.

Old school In Flames!! They are back! The riffs, transitions, and breakdowns are a masterpiece especially at 1:53 and 2:55. Obviously, the vocals are unmatched by Anders. Best on the album for sure.

Amazing how well In Flames have captured that classic In Flames sound, even the vocals, the growls and screams have that old school sound. A lot of bands revisit the past but due to a lot of factors, not the least physical wear and tear on the vocal chords they often struggle to get the same tone and pitch. This album shaping up as a great ode to the past.
If you’ve seen In Flames live you’d know he does not struggle with vocals. So it shouldn’t be surprising.

I saw In Flames live for the first time in my life 10 december in Copenhagen then 17 december in Gothenborg this year. 2 of the best days in my life, have many best days but these 2 something quite special. Fyfan va grymma ni va In Flames, kommer köra och se er i Dalhalla också från Malmö!!!.
This is for sure the ultimate and best In Flames track from the new album. It is the perfect blend of old and new. The new album is really great overall but this track struck platinum and has truly married the competing eras. In Flames fan since 1998 when Whoracle was still the newest album.

Lacuna Coil and In Flames have a comparable level of drama and emotion in their music. Two of my absolute favourite bands! I also think Anders and Andrea are very comparable vocalists.
