The kittens safety was a byproduct of the survival instincts of the mother not leaving partial cover before fully investigating her surroundings. But hey, that's just me thinking to live to a ripe old age in the wild, you have got to think of survival first.

Notice the round pupils in their eyes. This is incredibly unusual in cats of this size (they're about the same size as domestic house cats), normally only the BIG cats (such as Lions) have eyes like this. Pallas Cat is a rarity indeed!
They are special indeed. They look so big even though they're actually not...it's the posture, I think. Makes them seem much larger than they really are.

Actually most wild cats are much more similar to domestic cats than Pallas cats. The latter are exceptional in many ways.
