Also, I have a headcanon where Apollyon, the Warden, the Raider, and the Orochi are supposed to represent the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Apollyon is War, obviously. The Warden would be Conquest because he helped conquer the Vikings. The raider is Pestilence because they were left sick and starving after the knights came. And the Orochi is death, because the Orochi is, according to game lore, the assassins of the samurai caste. I could be wrong, but I like it when games like this use apocalyptic symbolism like that.

Atomic Gameplay I wish there was a choice as who to play for the final mission. Like 5 endings. Pick one faction to win solely or have peace. Or have Appolyon win playing as her.
I think there should have been a prologue chapter. It should have focused on Apollyon's experience during that raid and showed why she had her ideology, shoving it behind collectibles means a player can miss her story like I did at first. That's why I originally thought Apollyon was a poorly done villain at first. Cool looking but lacking depth or reason. A prologue where you play as a young Apollyon watching her friends and family be slaughtered would have given you some sympathy for her and would have provided the opportunity for a fake out' making you think she just wants revenge on the Vikings only to then reveal her true intentions.

Without any strong war-like people, leaders and people of power can take advantage of a peaceful society by limited the rights of the citizens. If the citizens are strong and ready to fight then it would be hard for leaders and governments to become corrupt beccause they would have to worry about people rebeling. A very good analysis, though I would contest your final point that Apollyon's end goal was proving to the young girl who saw her village destroyed that she was strong. Apollyon in another observable notes that she does not blame the common people for being sheep - as long as they do not hide from that fact. Personally, I think she understood if nothing else that some would be sheep, but just like a herd of real sheep supplies a lot to their owners so to do those workers provide for the warriors - they just need to acknowledge it. I do think that Apollyon may have had your theory lingering, but I do not believe trying to prove herself strong was the sole thing she wanted. Ultimately I think she just wanted to tear away what she felt was a cover for an ugly reality - look at her thoughts on Ayu, practically dismissing Ayu's stated motivation of wanting to unite the Chosen in their darkest hour and instead believing it that Ayu was a power hungry warlord who happened to have the opportunity to put that into an acceptable context and murder her rivals. She probably expected the Blackstones would have everyone line up to hit them, but she probably had hoped that the tensions would stay - I mean, look at how murderous the Orochi was to the Warden for no reason. Admittedly, the Orochi seems to not understand that there was more than just one Legion, and the Legion and Chosen siege forces were at a cease fire when Apollyon died. If not for the Vikings (those legendary shit starters), they may have walked away with an uneasy peace. But then the Vikings showed up and not realizing it was a third party attacking, soldiers on both sides assumed betrayal even as the commanders tried to stop it - the shot heard 'round the world, basically. No one knew what it was, everyone assumed the worst and engaged. That was what Apollyon sought - and she probably hoped the Vikings would show up to disorganize her foes; the question then being what then. Overall a good commentary and pretty insightful, well done. I just had some specific disagreements, but that doesn't make it a worse analysis necessarily. Just different views.

Why other Daimyo was worse? They just lost.

I think she is the main character and the good guy, her goal is to kill the sheep and leave the wolves so no one would be powerless anymore and she accomplished her goals. There are three main factions now of samurai, knights, and vikings and they all are strong and able to protect their people. She didn't want anyone to go through what she went through as a child so she kills the sheep and leaves the wolves. She has good intentions and like Mystery Man said, she is like Thanos and both of them completed her goal. She is the good guy and she is amazing with an amazing back story. Sure Apollyon is the main but calling her a ''good guy'' is shitting on this beautiful plot that was explained before you , she is a character with personality problems , girl inside only wants to protect yet the armor wants the sheeps to die. I have a For Honor theory about apollyons armor and moveset, is that its made out of foes armor sets of most the For Honor classes classes, that of she has taken from skilled warriors and fused it with the lawbringer armor she had previously : Her Helmet: a Valkyrie (due to the eye silts and shape is from a epic valkyrie armor set), Warden (due to the shape) also it has a Plume that exactly like a Raider set. Her Arms: a conqueror (for her left sholder is ) a Warlord, and a Gladiator (for her right shoulder) Her chest: this is the only known part that survived from the lawbringer she has killed Her Cape:Centurion (in the story mode she states she has met them, even fought them, so a cape from one would make a good trophy) Her Legs: Very viking based: Raider, warlord or a shaman Her sword: Very similar to a Warlord set and Her fighting style is like a fusion between a Centurions unblockables, a wardens base movesets, a Raiders large sweeping motions, a lawbringers parry punish and (i might go a tad bit off here) a Gladiators long chains or a conquerors infinte chain this is backed up by her background with Vikings and other Knights and the fact she keeps banners of defeated factions all around her castle, so with this armor comes not only a aura of intimidation for she has killed all of the warriors shown above and wears their armor as trophies, but also her fighting styles too. and you, a samurai, a brand new opponent on the Battleground, a brand new set of armor to add to her own.
She’s mostly a mix of Warden and Lawbringer from the helmet to the shin plates and kama/leather skirt and cape from the looks of it but Warden does have some bulky shoulders and streamlined gauntlets too
It's a solid theory, unfortunately Ubisoft released an armor set for Lawbringer during Marching Fire and it's similar Apollyion's armor. I think they made the armor of the original or older armor designs

that feeling when you click on King J and find like 4 unwatched videos That CGI trailer they did for the game with three guys fighting for water was super poignant. The game had some interesting ideas.
Actually, I think you may have overcomplicated it a bit. In my opinion, Apollyon's philosophy can be summed up by the saying; "Hard times breed rough men. Hard men bring soft times. Soft times breed soft men. Soft men bring rough times." I think in her mind, she believes that peace serves only to weaken humanity as a whole, giving way to this endless cycle where the strong become weak. She witnessed first hand what that weakness wrought. The Lawbringer and the iron legion were too cowardly to defend her people, and her people too weak to fight back. This gave birth to her belief that man's natural state is war. That life is supposed to be a constant struggle for survival, and by removing that struggle, we simply waste away, until the next war comes and the cycle begins anew and that peace is nothing more than a hopeless fantasy. For instance, note her last words "All I want is for you to admit what you are...my wolves." Notice, she doesn't just refer to them as wolves, like she did with others who passed her test but as her wolves. This indicates, to me at least, just how futile she thinks the hero's goals of peace are. By calling them her wolves she's not just saying that they passed her test, but it is for that very reason that they cannot have peace. Because in passing the test, they have proved that they are just like her, and because of that they stand in the way of their own peace. Think about it, the Warden, the Raider, and the Orochi have all gotten to where they are by killing those that would not join them, just like Apollyon. Now, by killing her, the wolves now hold the power. The Warden is head of the iron legion, the Raider is the leader of his clan, and Ayu, another one who passed Apollyon's test, is the Emperor. Now, with Apollyon gone, there is somewhat of a power vacuum which they've all come to fill. The only thing they need to do is lay down their arms. But they are wolves, not sheep, and a wolf does not give up his fangs. As we see in the ending cinematic, the knights and samurai are on the verge of ending the fighting, they want peace. But they can't do it. Not just because the Vikings crashed the party, but because it's not in their nature. They could have come together and fought off the Vikings as one, but they didn't. Instead, they fought each other. The Vikings were just an excuse to keep fighting. "Ah," you might say. "Then why did she shelter all the civilians in her castle? Surely it was for mercy." Perhaps. Perhaps she was trying to satisfy some urge to set herself apart from the lawbringer that condemned her people. But I think not. We are told in the mission prior to the final battle that Apollyon's war had left the economy neglected, and the countryside was overcome by bandits. So the people probably gradually moved to the city because it was more protected. Furthermore, I wouldn't exactly call trapping all of your citizens in the middle of a siege a mercy, especially since it was obvious that the attacking forces did not have a quarrel with the people of Ashfell, just Apollyon. No, I think that it was another one of her tests. She wanted all of mankind to be strong. She'd put every faction through endless suffering, except hers. Only the strong would survive the siege and make it out alive, while the weak would perish, as they surely would anyway.
Thank you! I love Apollyon, my favorite lady ever now. One bad mamajama, her armor is cool, her lore is awesome and I'd side with her in the story just cause I adore her so much. Yeah, little too much adoring but fuck it.

I don't know if I'd be worthy but I'd work under Apollyon. Funny thing is her ethos does have advantages. She always tries to spare and hire the strongest of her enemies which means her soldiers are indebted to her for sparing their lives and incredibly strong.
I think her death was horrible. It should have been her saying her speeches, and her final words as: "My... Wolfes..." But instead of just falling to the ground, which is boring, a catapult shot appers, and she is sallowed by flame in slow motion. Her burning corspe falls down her castle, and her helm remains at the orochi's feet.
This is the first time I've seen your videos, they are very interesting and added a lot of depth to the For Honor campaign that I thought was lacking in the game.

I hate that the Samurai had the spotlight in the story. The Warden you play as, yeah he should had been the one to kill Apollyon. The Samurai dude just comes out of nowhere and suddenly becomes her killer. The Warden, he's the best fighter in the story. Seriously that dude should have had more game time, he was so badass.
Not only that as he had *reason* to fight Apollyon himself She made him commit horrifying atrocities, from starvations, to what was almost genocide and used him as an instrument to sow war amongst post-Cataclysm Europe The samurai just comes out of nowhere and "hey we'll be the only ones to get closure you tin cans" and the story ends in the game Really sad that the Warden couldn't get his revenge, I say.

Apollyon isn't a sadist but other than that they are pretty much the same. When the game came out a lot of people complained about the story mode lacking any depth...and while...yes it is brief I beg to disagree. It has as much depth as you are willing to give it. It's made to make you think. Was she right? Was she wrong? The story mode of For Honor sparked a philosophical debate inside me as soon as I saw the ending. For the longest of times i assumed that Apollyon was some kind of twisted nihilist, but your approach to it brings valuable food for thought.
I could just stop watching anything else after that beginning, nothing will ever fill the void again

Great game with a poor story, it’s clearly more multiplayer based. Story wasn’t awful or anything, but it just had tons of waisted potential.

Well chief how’s the move set look now?
I have a For Honor theory about apollyons armor and moveset, is that its made out of foes armor sets of most the For Honor classes classes, that of she has taken from skilled warriors and fused it with the lawbringer armor she had previously :
Her Helmet: a Valkyrie (due to the eye silts and shape is from a epic valkyrie armor set), Warden (due to the shape) also it has a Plume that exactly like a Raider set.
Her Arms: a conqueror (for her left sholder is ) a Warlord, and a Gladiator (for her right shoulder)
Her chest: this is the only known part that survived from the lawbringer she has killed
Her Cape:Centurion (in the story mode she states she has met them, even fought them, so a cape from one would make a good trophy)
Her Legs: Very viking based: Raider, warlord or a shaman
Her sword: Very similar to a Warlord set
and Her fighting style is like a fusion between a Centurions unblockables, a wardens base movesets, a Raiders large sweeping motions, a lawbringers parry punish and (i might go a tad bit off here) a Gladiators long chains or a conquerors infinte chain
this is backed up by her background with Vikings and other Knights and the fact she keeps banners of defeated factions all around her castle, so with this armor comes not only a aura of intimidation for she has killed all of the warriors shown above and wears their armor as trophies, but also her fighting styles too. and you, a samurai, a brand new opponent on the Battleground, a brand new set of armor to add to her own.

She’s mostly a mix of Warden and Lawbringer from the helmet to the shin plates and kama/leather skirt and cape from the looks of it but Warden does have some bulky shoulders and streamlined gauntlets too
good, but Centurion and Gladiators were far away from the 3 factions land, they were with the Empire far away from this civil war
Since we got the new armour with Marching Fire, its guranteed its the Tormented Arbiter set from Lawbringer, with some kind of custom helm
It's a solid theory, unfortunately Ubisoft released an armor set for Lawbringer during Marching Fire and it's similar Apollyion's armor. I think they made the armor of the original or older armor designs

Actually, I think you may have overcomplicated it a bit. In my opinion, Apollyon's philosophy can be summed up by the saying; "Hard times breed rough men. Hard men bring soft times. Soft times breed soft men. Soft men bring rough times." I think in her mind, she believes that peace serves only to weaken humanity as a whole, giving way to this endless cycle where the strong become weak. She witnessed first hand what that weakness wrought. The Lawbringer and the iron legion were too cowardly to defend her people, and her people too weak to fight back. This gave birth to her belief that man's natural state is war. That life is supposed to be a constant struggle for survival, and by removing that struggle, we simply waste away, until the next war comes and the cycle begins anew and that peace is nothing more than a hopeless fantasy. For instance, note her last words "All I want is for you to admit what you are...my wolves." Notice, she doesn't just refer to them as wolves, like she did with others who passed her test but as her wolves. This indicates, to me at least, just how futile she thinks the hero's goals of peace are. By calling them her wolves she's not just saying that they passed her test, but it is for that very reason that they cannot have peace. Because in passing the test, they have proved that they are just like her, and because of that they stand in the way of their own peace. Think about it, the Warden, the Raider, and the Orochi have all gotten to where they are by killing those that would not join them, just like Apollyon. Now, by killing her, the wolves now hold the power. The Warden is head of the iron legion, the Raider is the leader of his clan, and Ayu, another one who passed Apollyon's test, is the Emperor. Now, with Apollyon gone, there is somewhat of a power vacuum which they've all come to fill. The only thing they need to do is lay down their arms. But they are wolves, not sheep, and a wolf does not give up his fangs. As we see in the ending cinematic, the knights and samurai are on the verge of ending the fighting, they want peace. But they can't do it. Not just because the Vikings crashed the party, but because it's not in their nature. They could have come together and fought off the Vikings as one, but they didn't. Instead, they fought each other. The Vikings were just an excuse to keep fighting. "Ah," you might say. "Then why did she shelter all the civilians in her castle? Surely it was for mercy." Perhaps. Perhaps she was trying to satisfy some urge to set herself apart from the lawbringer that condemned her people. But I think not. We are told in the mission prior to the final battle that Apollyon's war had left the economy neglected, and the countryside was overcome by bandits. So the people probably gradually moved to the city because it was more protected. Furthermore, I wouldn't exactly call trapping all of your citizens in the middle of a siege a mercy, especially since it was obvious that the attacking forces did not have a quarrel with the people of Ashfell, just Apollyon. No, I think that it was another one of her tests. She wanted all of mankind to be strong. She'd put every faction through endless suffering, except hers. Only the strong would survive the siege and make it out alive, while the weak would perish, as they surely would anyway.

Funny thing is her ethos does have advantages. She always tries to spare and hire the strongest of her enemies which means her soldiers are indebted to her for sparing their lives and incredibly strong.
I think her death was horrible.
It should have been her saying her speeches, and her final words as:
"My... Wolfes..."
But instead of just falling to the ground, which is boring, a catapult shot appers, and she is sallowed by flame in slow motion. Her burning corspe falls down her castle, and her helm remains at the orochi's feet.

I hate that the Samurai had the spotlight in the story. The Warden you play as, yeah he should had been the one to kill Apollyon. The Samurai dude just comes out of nowhere and suddenly becomes her killer. The Warden, he's the best fighter in the story. Seriously that dude should have had more game time, he was so badass.
Not only that as he had *reason* to fight Apollyon himself
She made him commit horrifying atrocities, from starvations, to what was almost genocide and used him as an instrument to sow war amongst post-Cataclysm Europe
The samurai just comes out of nowhere and "hey we'll be the only ones to get closure you tin cans" and the story ends in the game
Really sad that the Warden couldn't get his revenge, I say.

The reason why she wants war is because... well it's human. Humanity is basically a backstabbing B****. Smiling like friends, yet the moment you turn your back you can wait a knife in your back.

When the game came out a lot of people complained about the story mode lacking any depth...and while...yes it is brief I beg to disagree. It has as much depth as you are willing to give it. It's made to make you think. Was she right? Was she wrong? The story mode of For Honor sparked a philosophical debate inside me as soon as I saw the ending.
For the longest of times i assumed that Apollyon was some kind of twisted nihilist, but your approach to it brings valuable food for thought.
