- This is one of my favorite things to eat! It's full of flavor, texture, and heartiness. Plus the mayo gives it quite the comfort food appeal. This vegan chickpea tuna salad is your perfect summer time (or year round) recipe.

This is my favorite thing to make for packed lunch. Try adding flakes of seaweed/kelp, old bay seasoning, and lemon juice. All the seafoody flavors adds a lot to this!
GoddessBae I add chopped nori sheets sometimes
GoddessBae Mmmm, yes indeed :) I've been eating it with nori (like in the pictures on the blog). So yum!
SweetPotatoSoul gonna have to try that too! So many options!
Old Bay and a dash of smoked paprika makes al the difference! Yum!
sonjevity th-cam.com/video/DVqRkz_85Xg/w-d-xo.html
If you put some ground up nori or dried sea kelp and add some nutritional yeast, it will taste more like tuna. 👍🏻💚
dulse flakes!
Thanks for the tip! I think I’ll try that!
Gonna try this.
great idea
Oh yes, that's so much better
OMG I just made this sandwich it was amazing. It was Pitbull and Lab mix approved. Thank you for sharing your recipes your saving a old truck driver's life no more greasy rest stop food.
Blessings and more Blessings

Hello Jenne, I made this meal today with slight moderation. I used avocado, cumin, smoked paprika, lime, onion powder, ground mustard powder and chili powder on pumpernickel bread!
I just made this and omg it's amazing! really does taste like tuna. I substituted mayo for avocado and plum vinegar for balsamic. half way through my food processor broke down so I decided to taste before mashing by hand but as it tasted so good I didn't bother
Just made this with the avocado today with some variations and it's amazing. No vinegar so i needed garlic salt. Also jalapeño powder, Dry Oregano, parsley, garlic pepper and a dash of onion powder. Very tasty and satisfying even without toast or kale and this is coming from a "real" tuna salad fan
Sandi Smith jalapeno powder is my go to spice...giggles
You are so beautiful!! Your skin literally glows!!
@Dayna Tolbert you need animal protein for dat
@@ericvega3597 Yeah you wish😂✋🏻
Pickle relish would also be a nice addition to this recipe!
Holy Moly, it tastes absolutely delicious, includes ingredients I wanted to use in my kitchen too and it is super quick to prepare. This is definitely a keeper. Thanks for being such an inspiration, Jenné!
My modifications (if anyone wants to get inspired):
- I don't buy canned chickpeas but prepare them at home, so I wasn't sure how much peas contains one 14-oz can. 80-100 grams of boiled and dried chickpeas got me just right consistency,
- I used a slice of celery root instead of celery seeds,
- One avocado instead of mayo + avocado,
- Apple vinegar instead of ume plum vinegar
And it takes very tuna-like even without nori seaweed.
thank you so much, just the comment I was looking for :)
Yummy! I gotta try this!
I make a variation of this all most every week! It's so easy and cheap(I have a college student budget: the cheaper the better)! It's very tasty, but I normally just use mustard, avocado and maybe some soy sauce. Great vid!
Elena Blair Do you?!? It is such a wonderful budget friendly recipe. Thanks Elena for watching :)
Elena Blair I've thought about how avocado would taste with this, instead of mayo. I used to make tuna salad with avocado. I'm gonna have to try this too.
sonjevity Yep, delicious with avocado!!
I tried this recipe with a few modifications but loved it. I used rice cakes for the "bread" part of my sandwich :P. I did a video of it too and told people to visit you for this yumsicle! Thanks for sharing!!!
Awesome!! Thanks lady :) I'm going to visit your channel!
SweetPotatoSoul Thanks, lady!
That looks delicious! We've found that a potato masher works great to break up the chickpeas for a small batch.
The Vegan Video Pantry Great idea!! Thanks so much :)
I just made this just to try it out and I had everything but the vinegar, I used lemon juice instead and man o man it was tasty!! Thanks so much for the recipe

I just finished eating this. I'm really happy right now.
You've become my favorite channel. I just started my vegan transitions and your recipes look amazing!
This looks fabulous, I love vegan tunas. I usually make mine with a few almonds too for a variation in texture and sub the vegenaise for lemon and tahini. I'm definitely going to try out using celery seeds next time!
Gregory Davis Oooh, I love the idea of using almonds in there. I've had it raw made with almonds. Yep, lemon and tahini is a great sub. In the recipe on my blog I also make it with avocado :)
Thank you so much, I’m about to make this right now.
Vegan strong.
I’ve been a Plant-based/Vegan for 1 year and 5 months and I’m not turning back.

0:45 "the truth is you have so many options" - there are 350 domesticated farmed edible plants (could virtually eat something different every day of the year), and 250,000 edible plants in general. Many options indeed.
Made this for lunch. It was so yummy I replace the vinegar with extra dijon and lemon juice Used avocado.. Also added some chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and some roasted garlic powder. I had all this on some spinach and kale. Thanks so much for this recipe.
Susan Ditzler Uh oh!! Thanks so much for giving it a try. Your alterations sound delicious. MmMmMmmm!!
Dulse also gives it a cool seafood taste. I also like to add Old Bay Seasoning too. Thank you for another great recipe.

Love this recipe for a quick and easy summertime lunch! So yummy!
I cooked my chickpeas with some kelp and this really made the " tuna" taste. I love this recipe. Really Good .
Thank you. You're recipes and self are beyond awesome.
I like the mix of ingredients you use and I am intrigued with using the avocado with this good job.
ONG!!! I just made it today and I have to tell you AMAZING!!! I didn't use my processor i used a fork and my hands also I had no nori so I used Old Bay. It turned out good. I LOVE being VEGAN. I am trying to figure out how to post pictures... EXCITED
Well I posted on twitter...
Yummers. So excited and getting more vegan motivation with every video!
Crafts & Glory Eeee! Makes me so happy :)
So yummy. I like to use avocado instead of mayo product stuff. great vid!
+black girl in the rok Thank you! I love avocado too :)
I just made this recipe and it was...delicious! It tasted so much like tuna. My husband (who can't imagine not eating meat) thought it was tuna until I told him it was chickpeas. I will definitely make this over and over again. Thank you for the recipe!
trh128 Haha! That's so great to hear :) Thank you!
This is so yummy! Even my very picky son is eating it. Thank you so much!
I had been meaning to make this for a while and I just made it and put it on top of a salad and it is delicious! I don't even need dressing. Thanks for sharing.
I made this today...soooo yummy!!!! My picky husband loved it as did my daughter and non-vegan friends
You have such a great presence on TH-cam. Thank you. Very uplifting. :-)
You’re channel has been a life saver! I so often get stuck in a rut of making the same things! Thanks for spreading my vegan horizon ☺️☺️
i love the name of your channel, i can totally relate, sweet potatoes are a staple in my life
So delish e oso.. I tried it with cashews instead of chickpeas the second time I have made this.. it was bomb
I made this today for the first time...OMG! Soooo good thanks for keeping it simple!
Fantastic. One of my favorite recipes.
I made this today. I put it on pita bread with some chao cheese and it was yummy! Thanks.
Tried it and love it!! I did add some sweet relish to it as I always loved sweet relish with my tuna...
+Craftlover 9 Nice! That sounds amazing!
Definitely will try. Thanks.
onli1luv Thank you!!
I've made this its so good and my kids love it!
That totally looks like tuna salad. I'm going to try this one. I love the addition of red pepper flakes.
Lookahere! I am closing in on 50 years old. I have NEVER had tuna, chicken or potato salad. My attitude my whole life was eeewwww! My husband literally teases me EVERY time he makes tuna. Today, I made vegan mayo from aquafaba. So, what to do with 7 cups of chickpeas. I made this and OMG! It was sooo delicious. I didn't have nori (as shown on your site), but since I'm not a tuna fan I figured I'd survive without it the first time.
Your skin is fabulous! And great cheeky grin.
I’m obsessed with this! My only issue is I can’t stop eating it!! 🤦🏼♀️ I have been watching your videos and my mom just bought your book for me 😊! I’m super excited. She’s keto so she doesn’t understand the whole vegan/plant based lifestyle.
I'm making it a goal to live like you. I've been meatless since January 2014, but cheese and eggs slip in and out of my life. You make me want to change that!!! I'm so going to make this dish! Thank you for the inspiration!!
Caleb McKinley-Portee Awesome Caleb!! Thanks so much for watching. Let me know if you ever have any questions! xo
just discovered this recipe! it's great. eating my vegan tuna sandwich now. Thanks a lot!
Mixed in chopped green jackfruit too. Came out delicious.
Yummy!
Just found you, but I'm impressed with everything I've seen so far. You are very knowledgeable in vegan nutrition, plus your recipes are so great, I want to head straight to the kitchen. I'm itching to try your vegan sausage and your gumbo! I'm also impressed with what you do in your little kitchen. Mine is tiny too. You inspire me!
I make this weekly and it's so delicious! Thanks for sharing!
I love it!! Thank you 😉
I was always so dubious about chickpea tuna but just made it and it's amazing! So so good 😊
Omg!!! This looks so yummy I can’t to make this for lunch.
This is so good, actually one of my favor spread . Try the same recipe with young green jackfruit.
What a sweet attitude for cooking. :)
So I happen to look up this recipe and I ran across this one 2 years ago.

I tried it.Sooooooooooooooooooooooooo yummy.
thanks for the recipe
Definitely will be trying this.
That sounds and looks delicious. Thank you! Will give this recipe a go!
That was such a well put together easy-going and informative video. Excellent job! I cannot wait to make this in about five seconds!!
I didn't have the plum vinegar but substituted with red wine vinegar... taste great! Thanks!
+vipanther46 Oh goodie! Thanks so much for letting me know, so I can recommend that :)
This looks good and easy to make. Question: I assume I can find the vegan mayo at Whole Foods or health food store, but what about the plum vinegar? I don't know how unique-tasting it is but do you have any suggestions about swapping it with another type of more readily available vinegar (apple cider, red wine, etc)? Thanks.
I love this stuff! Can't get enough. Also, to the folks like me without a food processor use a pastry cutter to break down the chickpeas 🤗
like the ume vinegar idea! I personally add dulse flakes to mine, so addictive
+Danielle Dewar Mmmmm, I love to add dulse flakes too!
Delicious just made it thanks for sharing.
I'm seriously going to cry! Thank you so much for these simple yet interesting recipes and great videos, Veganism hasn't been the easiest for me, I had to transition to veganism because of health issues but found it very difficult to get enough calories in with foods that I enjoy. So thank you for this
I love your channel!!!!!!!
Thank you for your recipes!
I love this!!! Eat it all the time with my baked potatoes and a big sallad :)
Loved this! :) Anyone know if you can make this in batches and store in the fridge or freezer? If so, for how long? Thank you :)
I just made it and I lacked a few of the ingredients. I modified some of them just trying it for the first time and it taste EXACTLY like albacore tuna salad! I just used a potato masher to mix it all up too. Thanks for showing us how to make it.
Mmmm, so going to make some of this tomorrow! It sounds awesome!
Hi! Thanks for all your delicious and nutritious recipes! They are the best! I heard it could be used some kind of seaweeds to give some more fishy flavour. Have somebody tried it? Does it work? Which are better?
Thank you! Oh yes, seaweed is great to add. Try dulse (very briny) or hijiki 😉
I like nori, dill relish, chopped onions, grated carrots and nutritional yeast in mine :}
This looks great! I love the idea of subbing avocado for the mayo, but would you recommend also adding some lime or lemon so that the avocado does not oxidize quickly or is it not needed?
i do a version of this with lime, no mayo instead avocado, and it taste amazing! granted, i also dont use mustard, so idk how much the taste will change.
Loved this! Tasted identical! Thank you!
Tried this, loved it, thank you so much!!!
Going to try it tomorrow morning 😊😊 thanks so much 😃
Sometimes I add a little black salt to give a slight egg flavor as well-like tuna with chopped egg.
I like this creation sis!!!
so cool, so awesome, can't wait to try!
