Thank you to everyone for your kind words. If you would like to buy either of my two books mentioned (Bees or Black Dog) please go to my podcast website at www.thefolklorepodcast.com and order from the Folklore Shop on there. I can mail internationally so you don't have to wait for overseas release dates! And if you message or email me, I can dedicate the books for you. Thanks. Mark
This sounds fascinating! Very cool how he connects crafts with folklore. I love thinking about how crafts are interwoven into different cultures in more ways that we know.
It seems to be a very long line of broken telephone. The chapter on blacksmiths reminded me of how much work goes into metal work and how little time I give to that craft in general but to know there's also superstitions around makes it so much ....juicier :)
I most definitely want to read 'Telling the Bees' AND 'Black Dog Folklore' (Amazon); the latter book especially because the black dog haunted my dreams as a child and actually appeared to me while awake.
I love dream interpretations. According to the website I use for my dreams it says 'To see a black colored dog in your dream symbolizes the shadow aspect of a friend. The dark side of someone close to you is being revealed and you are able to see through to their true intentions. If the dog is white, then it indicates that the intentions of a friend are pure and true.'....very cool
The bees thing really reminds me of the television show Lark Rise to Candleford where one of the local village women is a beekeeper and talks to them constantly. I'm even more curious about this book now! To be honest anything related to the history of needle-crafts (knitting, sewing, embroidery) is immediately interesting to me but the bee thing too! Thanks for sharing this interesting book, Andreea!
Yes! That's so true, I remember that! I do think this book is very much up your alley because it involves nature, and small village oddities, you would definitely enjoy this book.
@@InfiniteText Thank you - I think the times are getting to me somewhat and I was feeling pretty depressed this morning, but your video helped me cheer up. I think the sight of your magic necklace cured me!
