This week Coach Roddy goes over a sneaky takedown from a very common position in MMA "The over under positions". The technique is very effective when your opponent is trying to put you back on the Cage. You use your opponents momentum to take him down and establish a nice ground and pound position.

Coach Roddy, much respect to you, but WTF is happening to your boy Connor. He's goin off the deep end. Someone needs to have a serious talk and straighten him out. I used to like the guy not only because he was brash and funny but mostly because of his talent and intelligence, but now he's behaving like an enormous prick! It seems he's surrounded himself with too many 'Yes' men.

I don't understand how you are throwing the guy, the video it seems as tho the partner is just going along with the move rather than actually being thrown. Are you pulling him with the underhook or are you using the knee tap to put him off balance?? I don't get it.

Ah Thanks for the message. Firstly you need forward pressure from your opponent. So let's say he is pushing you to the cage. One you have that pressure you are pulling with the underhook stepping out of the way and tapping inside the knee. All movement must be done simultaneously. Hope this helps. Can you please do a video on predicting your opponent. For eg. When McGregor predicted that Aldo would come in like that and throw a hook. A video posted showed him practise moving his head back while throwing a counter in response to Aldo charging in.
