    Thats a good system but what Ive started doing is a little hack: i browse my favorite websites/newsletters/blogs, i choose an article that would lend itself to be a video, i rewrite the article to be a script (add a hook, intro, curiosity gaps, etc.) and IM GOOD TO GO! Last 5 or so videos on my channel were created like this. There's lots of tools already like scriptwiz that do the conversion automatically but I prefer the manual approach.

    I'm a professional TH-cam script writer and I can confirm this is exactly the "winning format" on this platform.
    It's actually pretty interesting to see it laid out this bare, but this is exactly how I write every script as well, whether it's a "top X list" or a commentary for a gaming channel. Always hyper-focus on your hook and intro. Hook around 5 seconds and needs to either be a promise for content in the video or a sneak peak of actual content (a highlight clip without the conclusion).
    Intro is then setting up the stage once a viewer is hooked. Give them expectations and tease something extra "somewhere" in the video that tehy can "watch out for." Get right into the content after this, don't pad it, and make sure your bonus is somewhere near the end 3/4 of the video.
    As he said, never ask for subscribes early in the content, it breaks the flow and you haven't provided value. Early viewers are also high risk viewers. Ones that make it to the end are MUCH more likely to take action.
    Linking a video at the end is essential for creating long watch sessions on TH-cam, even if it's not your own content you're linking to. TH-cam will identify that YOUR content STARTS long watch sessions and will be more likely to push your content out to more people.
    For context. I make between 300-1000 dollars per script I write for channels that have a few hundred thousand, up to several million subscribers. Many of my scripted videos get hundreds of thousands of views. This is proven to work, to take this video's advice to heart and good luck!

      @@TK-pv4uq Depends on complexity of topic and the type of client. Generally I have a flat rate of $400 minimum for anything up to a 10 min video. 10 min = around 1800 words, 3 hours per 1000 words and 3 hours research, 1 hour contracting and admin. 40/45 per hour is my rate.
      If it's a good client or they are really specific about giving me research beforehand, I charge around 250 for a 5 min video.
      Have a flat rate you charge minimum, then an additional rate per project length. Estimate the amount of research time you would need and bill per hour as a flat cost. I never script and research a video for under 200 dollars.
      Only exception is shortform like TikToks or Shorts and that's ONLY when provided with the topic and general research. I charge $50 per short (180 words max)

    Yes. I'm sure this will increase your viewership, clicks, likes, and other numbers. But what if you are not interested in using TH-cam to make money? This can be a great tool for communication, social change, and expanding the conversations we are having in communities. I'm sure that I'm not the only person who is NOT interested in fast-talking narrators "delivering" content in jump-cut edited high-speed information packages where the presenter never inhales. I'm looking for well-crafted stories that move me. I want to connect with creators. And I want to learn and understand skills and techniques for building community with live persons rather than "viewers". What does "engagement" really mean? Thanks for all of your efforts.

  • @mrbydl
    @mrbydl 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I generally like your videos. But in this one I think you violated some of the guidance provided within it. You talked fast and a lot. I believe you could have presented the useful information in half the time with fewer words and speaking slower. It feels like you were shooting for word quantity besides the quality. Sorry, this one does not rate eleven minutes, maybe five at the outside.
    Gafffer rule : use as few words as necessary and speak at a conversational pace.
    (I don't like rewinding in case I missed something important only to discover that I didn't) 😉

    Why don't you try using some backlight and a key light. Also, do head and shoulders or increase your shot to show your hands. You may know how to write - though I am not going to listen to you - but you don't seem to know very much about video production.

    as a consumer, I end up leaving as soon as I see the "If you like what you seen, smash that like button, subscribe and hit the bell for notification . . ." It's a turn off. I like when text pops in without over emphasis on it that suggests liking, subscribing, and clicking the bell. no big verbal call to action, just a visual nudge while they continue with their content.

  • @chrispysaid
    @chrispysaid 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    one amendment I would make to this is "I'm squibbysquob with beep-boop channel and today I'm going to _recites the title of the video"_
    we already know what you're here to do, don't even bother saying what the goal of the video is because it's in your title. just start doing the thing in the title
    as for a hook, make that the hook. "I'm not gonna waste your time, let's get right into it."
    no "but first," no preamble, just start doing the thing the video is about

    I am autistic. It's in my nature to ell a story in as long as it takes, and not a second longer. Mum, a primary school teacher, commented on this when I was ten, eleven years old.
    I think two things about this video....
    You could have told your story more succinctly, I struggled to hold on towards the end.
    It's not about writing a script, it's about structuring the story. The video is very different from what I expected and wanted.
    It's a common characteristic of autistic people that diplomacy is somewhere between difficult and impossible.

    Hi - this is a valuable and useful video, thank you. However, my problem is the opposite of the usual question. I am a psychologist making educational videos for parents on child development. The easiest thing for me is to "pack value into" the video. I have so, so much to say and my main worry is that the video covering one single topic will be too long and no one will watch it to the end. Should I make a 30 min. video on what it is so darned hard with young babies and how you can cope, or should I make 4 x 10 minutes videos on the same? What do you think about mini series?

    • @PrimalVideo
      @PrimalVideo  ปีที่แล้ว

      you could really do both :). some people will want to only watch the shorter version, some the longer.
      If you're able to get more specific on the topics though, that will usually mean a shorter video

    Love this. It gives me a better understanding of how I should be formatting my video. My question though is for channels like mine(travel vlog) its hard to know early in the day what I'll be doing or where I will be. Would it be weird or awful to film a "promise" after the fact and then edit it back into the front of the video? Continuity might be an issue.
