Having a niche helps your audience know what to expect from the content that you make but the *biggest* misconception is that you need to find the niche ASAP. The reality is, finding your niche is *hard* and that's perfectly fine! Take your time and discover yourself, take risks and better understand yourself. If you do that, you'll have a *much* better chance at finding out what you truly love. 👌🏻
Very true ,sadly that advice dose not feel like advice to most people , naturally we all want a quick fix . Taking your time and paying attention to feedback and comments can also give you a direction.
@@Coded99 nothing is worse than being forced to make videos about something you really aren't too sure about. Give it a go, see how it feels and if it doesn't work out? Try again!
I have been editing for a year and I cant tell you how helpful theses tips are. It takes time but video editing gets easier with video video you make. Great video.
This was a very helpful video for a beginner. Do you have any videos specifically on how to store footage? And organize it in a way that’s accessible. Thank you so much!
Thank you Omar & TM for sharing your knowledge with the world. This channel has been key in helping me through this learning process of video content creation. I've made it a point to use links provided to help support the channel. Much appreciated 🙏🏼
Hey man, seeing the clips from the beginning of the video briefly acknowledging the journey you've taken and what you've evolved into is inspiring to a Kaizen mindset. I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro to edit. My kit included a GO Pro 8 Black, my Cell Phone with balancing Gimble, and a Canon xf400. I've been able to cobble together a studio in our business space to start out and your videos are extremely helpful. The workflow tips especially for us novices. Thank you, again for paying it forward.
Also, I meant to add that SOW documents (Scope of Work) allow me to plan my video editing projects in advance with macro and micro detail. Templates are easily found online and useful in creating a scaffolded plan. The idea is to establish an overall scope (Purpose) of the project, deliverables to achieve that scope (all tasks that must be done storyboarding, scripting, shot outlines etc...), a timeline to complete those deliverables within, and milestones to chunk progress for yourself or your to give clients updates if they want them. I'm only sharing this in case anyone else may benefit. LMK if there is a better way though!
Preparation and staying organized makes everything less stressful. Definitely need to come up with my own workflow and make things more efficient, thanks! :)
I will have to use iMovie because I already have it. Trying to keep extra expenses down as I just ordered gear (lighting, tripod, etc). Thank you for this video.
You all saved me. I’m in Cali right now for a Disneyland trip and haven’t gotten adjusted to the time difference. I’m watching this video at upload time which is 5am here😂
This video was excellent, especially the demonstration of using folders. Where do we keep all the footage from the SD card? More detailed: where do you store every take or b-roll clip? Right now I’m just chunking it in Apple Photos on an external hard drive, but it’s already getting messy 😎. Looking for suggestions from anyone; thank you.
Thanks for all these tips. I'm new to making videos this year and I had so much trouble with my last video because I didn't organize my B-roll in advance and didn't make a shot list. It ended up making the whole process take so much longer than it needed to. It's all part of the learning process haha. I made the mistake and I'm going to learn from it. The tips on favoriting templates and saving effects for later use sounds like an awesome idea.
Thank you. Any suggestions for storing bits of footage for later (and finding them later)? The outtakes that might be good for a blooper reel or something similar.
Thanks, Omar, for another great video. I'm always trying to improve my workflow. Right now I'm spending way too much time on my videos -- and not in a good way. Software: I use Camtasia and FCP mostly.
Very good info . Thanks think media for putting everybody on game on how to start from beginning to the end 🔥🔥🔥. Thank will save this to a playlist so I won’t forget .
Great video with really helpful advice. One thing I would like to have heard is how long it takes you to record and edit a video - a ten minute video as an example? Not including research and any set you need to do, just from record to upload to TH-cam
Interesting tip about adding B roll later in the editing workflow. I'll try that but sometimes with my kind of video the B roll is inseperably interwoven with the A roll.
The scripting part often appears to be the most difficult for us. As we're making travel vlogs, there's huge uncertainty about how things will actually go. So we do make sure to have a general idea about the kind of video we want to make, let's say a visit to a beach. And we do some research about when there's great light, which shots we definitely need, if we can fly the drone, etc. But then a lot just depends on how things go, what the weather is, if there are other people, etc. Many things that we can't predict. If you'd have some good tips for that, this would be very much appreciated!
I use Lumafusion mostly but for bigger projects (such as a Let's Play series I'm working on) I', relearning how to edit using DaVinci Resolve. Great video Omar with some great tips thank you!
Can y’all do a video on framing your shot, especially as a solo creator? Being new to talking head, I’d like to be better a framing my shot and giving me room for edits when I jump cut and zoom in and such

Great tip about editing from the end!!! Genius! I use Filmora
I use Final Cut Pro! This recent video I used some of these tips without knowing. I really enjoyed all of the tips you shared and will add them to my workflow!! Thank you
I use DaVinci Resolve. I'm still learning how to be a better content creator with the general market that I am targeting along with my niche market. What was said in this video helps a lot. 😊👍😊
Great video Omar, thank you, I'll watch this again from home and compare with my present workflow approach, glad to say I already do a few of these things. I use Shotcut, finding it works well for me at this early stage of my channel (different account to this). Thanks and best wishes.
This is a great workflow video! Saving!!! Also, I use Camtasia as well and I love it. It's really easy to use and they have a lot of different customization options.
Quick question, do you record your audio on another software like adobe audition or audacity and also recorded your screen making you have two audios to work with ?
Omar, could you please make a video about using sound effects? Like, IF to use whooshes, slide whistles, etc OR not? I used to use them a lot but I noticed most of your videos (if not all) do NOT use them. They take a lot more editing time but they make videos a bit more fun. Also, how about background music? Another asset I do not see much of on your channels (personal and Think Media's). Thanks so much matey! Cheers to your success! :)
Great video. I have no doubt this will help speed up my video editing process lol. I'm usually all unorganized with my footage and never plan anything out 😆
I have good ideas and my growth has been a bit surprising, but I'm operating from my phone? Any recommendations for phone apps to create a better quality product? I feel like my subs deserve a better/ more polished product as i really haven't grown as an editor since getting started
Our workflow is very similar - one thing we have recently added is a checklist that I run through after outlining/scripting each video. This checklist reminds me to make sure that we are including as many little strategically placed snippets of "who we are, what we are about, and our underlying values" as possible. I have found this to be the best way to make sure that we don't lose the important aspects of our videos that differentiate us from everyone else.
Waiit pause what was that thing u used on your ssd to stick on ur laptop? It seems so logical but so useful!! Cause sometimes my ssd is just swinging..
I use DaVinci Resolve and am finding its a monster. Sooooo much planning needs to be done from the get go. I think I need to make a plan to do most of my master/major effects first, so when I chop it up, the effects should remain...I think.
This is great info! I have an external hard drive 1T would that be just as good as a solid state drive? Thanks I subscribed. I am hoping to start a channel soon.
Hi and thank you for another great video. I've saved it for future reference. I have a lot sorted out....but I am lost on editing. I just use iMovie, it’s okay, a little limiting but basic enough for me to use! I wish I could upload directly from iMovie to my YT channel!!🙄
I use both Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro.
I use Filmora 11
I use iMovie, it is easy to use and can increase the speed of the videos to make it more convenient, and the output quality is good

I totally resonate with this. It's a journey and we get to discover what we really like and how we can fuse that into what the viewers want.
