    02:58 that's really insightful. I think when a bike has power in spades, we tend to solve all our problems with power. But like said, once you get used to what's available, you start to find other solutions to meet the challenges on the road.

    Soooo glad you are on this bike and not the 450L. I bought my 18 Rally new while a 450L was 15 ft away. For some reasons the 450L is better but as a total package, the Rally is tough to beat, especially if you are going to use it as a true dual sport everyday machine. And when tastefully modded it just keeps on getting better. Keep the vids coming!

    Very cool small capacity DS bike. I had a CRF250L a few years ago for about 6 months before I traded in for an NC700X. I usually ride XR650L and XR400R. The only downside I found with the CRF 250L was the rear suspension which seems way undersprung for my 95kg all up weight. Easily fixable with an aftermarket rear shock or doing some work on the rear suspension.

    Nice review Mark, it's another solid and excellent bike from Honda. It's so nice to ride on the trails ( I've ridden one) and great value for the money. I just hope that someone at Honda will one day reflect on the pedigree of the mighty XR650R and make a worthy successor!. Riding the 250 it felt so light...but when I take out my XR650R THAT feels light compared to most adventure bikes!. XR650R Rally (with electric start!) please Mr. Honda! Cheers, Steve

    I rode a CRF 250L a few years ago from Montana to Costa Rica. As anyone can probably guess, it was pretty awful in the states and Mexico. When I got to Guatemala, less highway, more cool little roads I started to really enjoy it. When I was doing little shakedown cruises in Montana before I left, it was a real pleasure putting around in the hills. When I actually hit the road with baggage, the already overloaded 250 was hardpressed to hit 65 under the best of conditions. I was wishing for something like the 1000 dollar XR 400 you mention at the beginning of the video. Not the bike's fault that I chose it. I was so used to using smaller bikes in Southeast Asia that I made a poor choice for the roadwork in the states. I wasn't expecting the bike to cruise at 70 but I was expecting it to perform a bit better. And gas mileage of a buzzing 250, no surprise because of the prior experience I mentioned, was painful as I was pulling over so often I rarely passed a motorcycle shop on my way to Washington* without the temptation of going in for a trade in.(yes it was a detour*) I think the 250 is a wonderful dual sport but if one is doing any distance on freeways, which can sometimes be unavoidable, I wouldn't recommend a 250. I know that can seem rather obvious but I travelled around on a YBR 125 in the Andes in Peru and had a load of fun. And I know that I never wished that I had a bigger bike there. (Well...maybe a 250 hihihi) Anyway, great footage! Nice work!

    • @ThomasDercole2230
      @ThomasDercole2230 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ok i see what your saying, but to get a bike above 250cc with low maintenance intervals you are most likely stuck with a dual sport that still has a carb.

    i mean, maybe. my re himalayan cost like half of what this does and it handles trails(dirtbike/atv trails as that's all i have locally) pretty good. highway top speed is lacking though just like this, 135 max 110-120 is happy (kmh) those speeds are without tucking. i will say that i don't get the suspension you do but aftermarket upgrades aren't too pricey and the suspension it has does pretty good. handled jumps with ease.(7.8/7.0 inches, never bottomed it out yet).
    edit: i just checked the p[rices again, theyre about the same. i could have sworn the rally was selling for 12k cad this summer but its down to about 7 now.

    i just passed das and i think i want something offroad / adv / flat seat. but i defo want to keep up with and maybe pass cars on motorway at 70.
    I get 65 out of my 11hp chinese made 125cc benelli - am i small enough for this 250 to be enough or maybe 350 or something?
    think i want small and nimble and fun, but maybe i don't. rode intructors cb1000r and it felt like my 125, so nimble and manouvreable -do i just look at litre bikes then? so much choice lol

    I had to pause it at 3:00 to ask ya: What camera harness are you using? [I've used the Cotton Carrier V1 for like 5ish+ years]
    While it's killer for the most part, I still find that my neck and shoulders end up feeling a whole lotta' strain - with extended use.

    I'm getting the impression that an old geezer like me would be better off on something like this for dual sport trail rides than the 450L... if clutch is a concern there are hydraulic clutch kits which supposedly help or just go with a rekluse for a few hundred more. for trail use being able to just ride it without worrying about clutchin might help.

Not sure if your title was just based on 'new' bikes or what. So many people have been having 'affordable' ADV adventures on clapped our xr's, tw's, klx's, and other plate-able bikes it's ridiculous not to include them.
