Agreeing here with the best weapon kit sentiments, overall its not even close with s2 especially, its just easy to forget all the bad kits and only remember the highlights. But the fact that so many weapons see use despite having less kits per weapon then S1-2 really shows how solid it is now.
My problems with the Splatoon 3 kits are that because the game is themed around the number three it would make logical sense for there to be third kits, and that my main weapon the undercover umbrella has two bad kits.
I know you went over it a bit, but I feel like a big part of the controversy with the season/updates is that Splatoon 2 felt more consistent in terms of updating, but that's because they were adding content that would have been there at launch if they were given more time. And I feel like when we got a good amount of content at launch in Splatoon 3, people were still expecting a similar amount of content updates to Splatoon 2 when that was realistically never going to happen. I hope we can put our expectations more realistically when the next title comes out.
The thing that sucks about not having 3rd kits in this game is the special and sub distribution. There's like 11 weapons (not counting scopes) with wall and 9 weapons (not counting liter scope) with beakon. Not all specials are at least one weapon class, like there's not enough inkjet, crab, and booyah weapons, which three of the crab weapons happen to be shooters.
The distribution is definitely weird, but I don’t think having an equal spread of subs would inherently make the game better. Kits should be based on the strengths and weakness of the main weapon, not on the frequency of their individual parts. I’m definitely not arguing the system is perfect, or that every weapon has an ideal kit, but third kits wouldn’t guarantee greater quality, just quantity
My issue with Splatoon 3's kits is there's not enough good kits. I don't mean good competitively, I just mean good as in fun. A LOT of kits have a good sub/good special but balance out with a mediocre sub/special, and a lot of weapons that would benefit from having a certain sub or special simply don't have them, and we're still giving things like dapples beakon.
This right here. I can name a few specials that are really fun but since they are only on like 8 weapons total I don't get to use much. And for many weapons with bad kits, they never become good because the devs are too afraid to give bigger buffs/nerfs.
While I agree with every point you brought up, I do still feel that a splatoon 3, the third game in the series that celebrates the number 3 everywhere, lacking third kits is incredibly ironic.
I want third kits to help out the weapon classes that don't have a lot of options due to the lack of main weapons. Shooters get every sub and special under the sun, but Brushes, Stringers, and Splatanas only get to use 6 subs and 6 specials because they only have 3 main weapons. To me, it's unfair when there are 14 sub and 19 special weapons and multiple classes don't get to use half of what's available in the game.
If anything, I'm more upset they pushed the "3" theme so hard, but didn't add third kits. It's like when a plot writes itself, but then the actual writers don't follow through for some reason
I for one play almost every single weapon and I even want third kits, but that being said, it's kits that feel like no other. Examples are blob and rapid pro with wall, or a brella with storm, or even more jet options like goo tuber getting it back. I like the current options but certain playstyles are still missing from this game.
I just wish they did more influential changes with the balance patches. Some weapons like Heavy Splatling or Dualie Squelchers have gone the entire game without any impactful changes. The last patch was good, but with them only coming every 3 months now, it's not gonna do much.
I see this as a separate issue entirely, but yeah, the game could have used some more buffs to weaker options. Even with that said, S3 is easily the best balanced of the trilogy imo. Doesn’t mean it’s perfect, but the best so far
One thing that I don’t think has been brought up yet is that them doing third kits right now could actually hinder progress on s4 with the time it would take during and after making them. Before anyone says “But it’s kits, they’re so easy to add!”, while that’s true when you’re a single person making something, it should be said that the devs are under a company. The devs don’t have as much freedom to do what they want when making the game as a solo dev/ indie dev team would. They likely have a process of approvals and testing for them needed, and that would take the time from making the weapons from somewhere around 10 minutes as some people say to what could be from a few days or a week to even longer. Also, even though we don’t know what the actual process the devs have to go through (afaik they’ve never disclosed this), it’s quite clear that they aren’t allowed to just do as they want for this, as if they were then I believe we would’ve seen third kits in the game by now. Aside from dev hell 1 with whatever process it could take to even begin making third kits, there’s also the fact that the devs will be more obligated to make more patches and pay attention to s3 more if they did release third kits. There’s no way the devs would add those kits and NOT do patches more regularly again because of them, as they would have to make sure the kits are balanced afterwards when putting them in, which would take even more time off the devs to both focus on the game and make balances with whatever decision process they have. Considering both the time initially implementing the third kits would and the patches made afterwards would take, it would require a good amount of the dev team to focus on s3 again instead of s4, and this could very likely hinder the development of s4 by a good chunk. It’s very likely that the devs are already starting work on the next game by now, and there’s definitely more important things to be working on in that game that would require a majority of the dev team to focus on, which likely wouldn’t be provided if third kits were to be done. While it’s difficult to guess if these effects might be as big as I think they are (or if it’s the main reason why they aren’t doing it), I firmly believe that these reasons are definitely parts of why there’ll likely not be third kits in s3 in some form. Being honest, I think that I would rather this be the case, and that the devs are instead focusing on s4. I would rather them take the time to make s4 good than to split the work between a new game and a game they already seem content with the current state of.
Spoken like a real software engineer. Adding kits isn't as easy as ppl think.. they have to have someone reskin the gun, they have to do balance testing, after they release it they will have to monitor and make balance patches.. All after they have said S3 content is done.
I'm feeling that they might have approached it by instead of giving third kits, they released more main weapons instead with how many main weapons added in S3 for each class. On top, many of the new weapons usually act like some of the existing weapons so they could just go "ehh close enough, Edit is just Heavy and they have different kits" stuff like that
@ as a heavy player, yes they are not the same, but at the same time the merit of my first half still apply that the third kits are replaced by quite an amount of new main weapon in its stead
Bro, who the hell is saying S2's multiplayer was better? I love Splat 2, and still go back to the game to play online semi-regularly. As (probably) one of the most active Splat 2 players in the world right now, I can say with 100% certainty that Splatoon 3's balance and design are leagues ahead of 2. More often than not, I want to zoom around the map at mach 10, get a wipeout, then die and respawn instantly with my fully charged special than, and this is in a ranked mode like Rainmaker or Clam Blitz by the way, sit in spawn with my shooter painting for missiles, super jump back to the spawn shield, pop missiles, and repeat. I still enjoy Splatoon 2's multiplayer design (I don't actually play a missile shooter (I play an armor shooter)), but never in a million years would I even think about saying it's genuinely superior to Splat 3's much more interactive and well balanced multiplayer environment. Splatoon 2's 3.0 meta was pretty cool though, I won't lie. Good times.
I kind of think the same. Splatoon 3 multiplayer design is a lot more fluid and dynamic but splatoon 2 just did more things better than splatoon 3 which is why I prefer splatoon 2 times but play splatoon 3. Because of the amazing gameplay outside of e liters, range blasters, big bubblers, krakens, and zooka.
@@السراقالمجهول OE is better than SO imo, third kits, funner specials besides ray, armor, and missiles, shifty stations, off the hook being the idols, and overall less annoying weapons like mint, painbrush, s blast and range blaster. These are all my opinions so you can think whichever thing you want
@Echo__70 thing is you cant say funner specials when the one you didnt like are the majority of what youre going to encounter, as for the main weapons may i remind that this game introduced bloblobber? also idk what you mean by annoying like you find annoying to have to actually put in effort to counter the weapon? have you forgot that kensa 52 is in this game?
@ No its not that I dont put in effort to counter things, I just simply dont like facing them which is going to happen no matter what and thats ok. Also k52 feels unfair to play against especially if you have similar or less range than it but you have to remember that thats just one weapon and sure it is pretty common but you dont really see more than 2 in one match at least normally. ALSO blob is really bad. Annoying? Sure, but once again thats one weapon. Also im sorry I dont enjoy the exact same picture perfect things as you but id rather fight insta pop bubble blower, baller, bomb rushes and things like stamp and booyah (which were in s3 so i wouldnt count that) than stuff like zooka and kraken
My issue is the fact that third kits haven't become the standard. After 3 games, thirds kits not being part of the regular update cycle is unacceptable.
Lack of third kits isn't the worst thing ever but I also wish they didn't take almost 2 years to put 2nd kits into the game, that I think is much worse
nah if they put everything in the game day 1 i wouldve been overwhelmed and stopped playing ages ago i like that they spread content to keep coming back
@@drift3426 i dont know why cant you guys just pick other weapons, my favorite is reeflux but i play over 10 different weapons and kits, each have their own fun, stop sticking to a single weapon in a game where you have 65 of them, at the very very least try the rest of the class
@ bamboozler is a very unique weapon so it makes sense that certain people who enjoy the weapon will stick to it, so it was insulting to have needed to wait almost the entire 2 years of the game's update and support to get the second kit when weapons not present at launch were getting theirs 6 months later
I feel like the way the kits in this worked I was more likely to try out weapons from other classes, I picked up painbrush when that came out and liked the playstyle, but wanted to use big bubbler because I was a fan of Jr, so I ended up switching to splat roller for a while and really liking it. Going from there I picked up Blaster because I liked the playing around ledge style of gameplay, and after liking that I picked up rapid blaster since I wanted something with a bit more range. If there were third kits for reach of those weapon classes that had what I wanted I feel like I would have been less likely to expand what I was playing
Maybe this was partially the case for you as well but imo the much larger incentive for trying out new weapons was the Sheldon License system and not the kits. Every new season that came out I was super excited to get a one-star rating on each weapon for the licenses (and the free gacha gambles that eventually came with them haha). If the kits ended up being something I gelled with I ended up taking them way further into 3/4 star territory (some examples being Mini, Dynamo, Tri-Stringer, cJr, 96 Deco, Enperries, sUndercover, Mint, Wellstring, and both Exploshers which ended up being my mains!)
The main source of complaints I feel is the POTENTIAL this game has. (Or had at this point) There was so much that could have been, map reworks and layouts that could have been great! Weapons with crazy kit synergies that could have been great in comp and casual. Customization that could rival other shooters with their interesting quirks. But at the end of the day, potential is potential, not reality. I’m actually sort of glad there’s this much of a desire to get these changes, it means that there is still a lot of room to grow with future titles, new mechanics and customization options to discover. Sure it hurts now, but very clearly they are saving what ideas they had here and are refining it for splat 4. The fact they’re waiting also sort of implies they have a big change for the kit system in the works, and a fundamental one if they didn’t want to push it in this game after content was over. Idk though, we just have to wait and see.
@@budderguy2128 This is another sentiment that I hear all the time, and I kind of get it. There are definitely aspects of the game that didn’t live up to what I wanted them to be, things like challenges and even tricolor. But the game DID succeed at doing a whole host of other things that I feel are often overlooked. Overhauling Splat 2’s awful specials with ones that feel empowering while still being the best balanced in the series, adding movement options that deepen the core gameplay, adding an achievement system through badges, etc. Splatoon 3 has missed potential, as does every game. And of course I want the series to address some major issues in the future. But I personally don’t consider S3 to be anywhere close to a disappointment overall
The onyl reason I'd want third kits is to see more combos of sub and special. Like some sub/special combos are pointless, but more variety in _how they're combined_ would be neat. If you want a certain combo of sub/special, there's one weapon you're forced to use, OR it doesn't exist at all. In S2, almost every possible sub/special combo existed, except niche and possibly broken ones like Beakon + Splashdown, and most of them were on at least two different classes. There were TWO weapons with beakon/missile (my actual favorite kit ever) and they were toally divverent - Sploosh Neo and Octobrush Nouveau. Two whole playstyles available for the same combo!!!
To me it feels like there are very little kit combinations and the ones that exist aren’t as interesting to a lot of players. Look at inkstorm call me weird but its my favourite special. I play weapons like slosher and blaster. Back in splatoon 2 i could play Ntri or Kensa Luna they both had bombs and inkstorm on weapons i like to play. In Splat 3 the only inkstorm weapon i kinda like to play is naut. There are no inkstorm weapons with a real bomb or on any weapons that feel satisfying to me. (Sorry for rambling)
Don’t know why I watched this whole thing as I was there during the stream but I agree with your points. Third kits would have helped certain weapons such as big swig but the game is still good without!
I may not agree with you much on story mode design (I was the person later in the stream talking about story modes), but I do agree with you heavily on almost everything you said here. I still personally think the maps in 3 are better than 2, but I agree with everything about kits, update cycles, and the general quality of the game compared to the previous games.
I think part of the reason is that some people miss their strong weapon kits and wish they had dream kits or something more competitively viable. Like for me, I am a splatoon 1 veteran, and I miss my squiffer with kraken and a bomb, and I hate how squiffer keeps getting point sensor since it gets rushed down easily. Plus, some of the special weapons are featured as much as others, such as missle and kraken. The current kit system is understandable since they probably have a list of special weapon and sub combinations that they write off as being too strong. This is why 220 weapons from previous games aren't featured in splatoon 3 and why certain playstyles like natilus and ballpoint splatling with ink jet probably isn’t coming back.
The Zipcaster kit with squiffer isn't competitively viable. The skill needed to pull it off is too high to be useful for the team. The same is true for the goo tuber kit with a bomb and ultra hammer kit. Goo tuber dies because the special weapon isn't an invincibility special. Both are considered knockoffs of the original kit.
@@kristopherhayes1957 ok become more skilled, prove them wrong, no body believe in splat roller at first and look at it now, do you just want them to hand you an easy competitive kit? not all kits are designed equally
You are correct that not all kits are designed equally. However, kits are better if they have the abilities within their kits that play towards their advantages. Take, for example, your roller point. Originally, the splat roller wasn't seen as strong because the kits either the sub didn't synchronize with the weapon's playstyle or the special weapon made it die due to nerfs. It is only in splatoon 3 where the weapon works with curling bomb and big bubbler since they both work with their playstyle or, in the case of carbon roller, it covers their weaknesses. Besides, even if I did become skilled, even other competitive players have told that even though the squiffer is fun, the current zipcaster kit doesn't help it that well.
It’s just baffling to me that the 3rd entry of the franchise doesn’t have “third kits”. Oh the irony. I wished a Permanent Inkbrush exists in Splatoon 3. Mainly because I want to try something new other than using the Vanilla kit and it’s red unlike the blue used in Vanilla Inkbrush.
Thing is, while the same in concept, kraken and kraken royale are two different specials, with the latter being a rework of the former. The only specials to ever be imported 1:1 (which would allow for repeat kits with the respective subs) are the Splatoon 2's ones of inkstorm, inkjet, booyah bomb, ultra stamp, tenta missiles (tho for this one could argue the nerf gave it a completely different feel) which were brought to 3
The main weapon variety is really good in this game, but a lot of the new main weapons are pretty lame, that’s why I wanted 3rd kits. Big swig is just a worse roller, recycled brella is just a brella again but faster, pencil is just charger but 5, etc. We may have gotten many new main weapons in this game, but really it just feels like 2, and it’s the been the same 2 since launch.
@@a-ramenartist9734 I’ve heard this argument before, but I really don’t think that would be the limiting factor. They could just add kits to pvp without adding respective tableturf cards
I'd argue that there are way too many weapons in the splatoon franchise now. Splatoon 3's approach to weapon variety failed for many reasons. 1. Some of the weapons including snipe writer and splatter colour screen, brought more problems of thier own into the game. 2. Some weapon classes really did not need another weapon. Nobody asked for splattershot nova. Besides, some of these weapons ended up being disappointments like big swig and s blast. 3. The amount of main weapons per special exponentially decreases as new specials are added. 4. It's as if the devs are hesitant in reworking or making the most of what they have in favour of new specials while making the old specials as sand bags for new kits. For example, instead of fixing reefslider, they added triple splashdown, rendering reefslider a lost cause. And truth be told, I was never a fan of this kit system, and splatoon 3 has only made despise it even more, especially with what they did to sploosh. The lack of third kits are already starting to bore me, besides it's a waste to not have third kits in the THIRD game in the series where the number 3 is expressed frequently throughout the game, more so than 'Chaos'.
i wanted 3rd kits bc 2 of the main weapons i wanted to try have splattercolor screen for one kit and a special i dont really like for the other so my hope was theyd get better specials 😔
i just quit having hope of third kits, mostly of the third kits release a month before the final fest and this was in 1 and 2. 3 if well has better kits than the previous 2 we have 19 specials and like 20 subs 2 kits isn't enough for see all potential variations and possibilities with shooters, roller, chargers, etc... the splatoon 1 rework special has like the majority of weapon meanwhile splatoon 2 4 specials barely has weapon in it and ink storm as a damaging bomb has line marker, splatoon 3 special also got damaged by this too cuz zipcaster is not on a shooter despiting the trailer of the storymode of splat 3 showcase splash with it, crab tank last weapon used was heavy edit splatling neveau. third kits are neccesary for see weapon with other special and expecting all of them being metagame is ridiculous but they are neccesary. splatoon 3 is done if they release third kit when the last seasonal splatfest happen great if they don't and splatoon 4 release in 2025 or 2026 great we can do not make the same mistake we did with splat 3.
I’m honestly kinda glad it doesn’t because otherwise I wouldn’t have to hear people complaining about 90% of the kits not being meta like back when they were still updating the game
The third kits issue is in my opinion a lot larger than you make it out to be. Being completely fair, I only ever really see you play shooters and to be specific forge and splattershot which ALL have pretty decent kits at WORST. I dont think its fair to call out other people who play weapons that dont have meta relevant or even fun kits because I dont think you really understand how unfun it is to play your favorite weapon in this game and they have just mid kits or even bad kits like dualie squelcher for example which I play. Kit variety makes so many weapons worth playing which is why people including me prefer splatoon 2. While i love some of the new weapon types like big swig, recycle brella, and reef lux, I dont love them enough to just simply not get variety for the other weapons. I dont really blame you at all because shooters kind of always got good kits.
I’ll admit I have some bias as a person who enjoys the largest weapon class in the game, but it’s not like I didn’t have my own disappointments. I REALLY wanted a short range inkjet option that wasn’t a brella. I REALLY wanted dualies with zipcaster and a functional sub. It is a shame we didn’t get those, and third kits MAYBE could have solved that. But on a game-wide scale, out of nearly 150 options, I still think most new players would have an easier time finding something they like in Splatoon 3 than the other games
As someone who's favorite weapon of all time is the bloblobber, thank you, both of the kits suck terribly, and that is why I was hoping for a third kit (something like super chump with splash wall)
This basically sums up what I've wanting to say for this video, especially as a long time fan of the sploosh o matic. It depresses me that sploosh is the only shooter that got the short end of the stick when every other shooter was privileged in some form. While every other shooter got a great kit, the same cannot be said for the sploosh which gets two kits that are contenders for the worst kits in this game (the Neo variant especially so) The worst part is that on top of the bad kits, the maps and poor weapon match-ups (thanks to the splatanas) make sploosh less viable as a result. Besides the sploosh I also have an issue with the tetra dualies (the only non-shooter that I have 4 stared of this reply) which basically only has 1 kit in the game but has the illusion of being 2 kits because, it's really just an auto-bomb and zipcaster combo sliced in half and dumped into 2 suboptimal kits. My point is that some weapons still don't have a viable option.
@@VGF80 exacrly !! Justice for us players who dont play privileged weapons. Not a bad thing, as many weapons as possible should get good kits but it sucks most of those are shooters.
It's best to ignore all the whining from people cuz at the end of the day they still play this game and have fun, they just have issues they voice repeatedly and annoyingly. Some aren't able to look at the grand picture and just focus in on little grievances or have their expectations too high. But there's an equal amount of people who love this game regardless and talk about what they like instead (while also giving criticism but way less often and way less annoyingly) (aka us)! That's what we gotta focus on, the non-toxic parts of the community, havin a good time :) Also random side note, just giving my thoughts on the topic, third kits would be a balancing NIGHTMARE think about how many weapons are in this game as is, and it'll only grow with each installment with or without third kits.
Yeah, I don’t like to harp on negativity because that obviously starts to feel hypocritical, but it’s been such a consistent thing during Splatoon 3’s lifespan specifically for reasons beyond my understanding. I wanted to at least get my opinion out there and add some points to the conversation
@@TheCosmicCloud Yea that’s true, idk why either, maybe cuz veterans of the series are older now? Or competitive is getting more serious? Idk, but regardless love your vid and love how positive your videos are in general
I'm choosing to believe the lack of third kits is because the Splatoon team is heads-down working on Splatoon 4 for the Switch successor, in hopes of making it a launch title. At least we're still getting some seasonal splatfests!
I don’t think there’s any chance S4 is a 2025 release. Personally, I really hope it isn’t. We’ve already had a trend of every Splatoon game being rushed in one way or another, and we know Switch 2 is backwards compatible, so I’d really prefer they take their time
@ Nintendo themselves confirmed they’re revealing the Switch successor before the end of March 2025. I can’t imagine them announcing a console 9+ months before launch
As someone who only played late game S2, i can say that people who over hype S2 only do that bc of OE and like thats it... and i didnt buy the expansion 😅😅 so.... it kinda sucked especially the rampant MPU that if you just started means all your weapons are just weaker and theres nothing you can do but grind?? I hope this makes sense but S2 was lowkey very frustrating to play as a new player vs when i started S3? I dunno lol
The update cycles and content we got each update was perfect, but it all comes down to S3 having a shorter life span than the other games. S3 coming out at the end of the switch's life span and it being made by junior devs held the game back a lot. The kits we have now are amazing, but I'm still sad to see that S3 was just a "yearly release game" like call of duty
I have to disagree with your point on this game feeling decent as Splatoon 3 right now. I just bought the game a month ago after exclusively playing Splatoon 2 for most of that game’s lifetime, and the content add one for multiplayer just don’t feel worth another 60$. If a sequel demands 60$, especially for a game that carries so much of its core aspects into the next one like Splatoon, it should include all of the things from the previous game and then add on. I can’t imagine playing this game from launch and spending 2 years waiting for a drip feed of weapons and kits. That’s just not good design.
I feel like the game did what you’re describing. Splatoon 3 launched with every main weapon from Splatoon 2 plus the 2 new classes. Each had only one kit, but that’s because S3 is a new game with new sub and special weapons and a new balancing direction. They were never going to port over the S2 kits 1-to-1, and if they did, the game would have only felt even more similar to its predecessor. If you don’t think it’s worth $60, that’s fair, but I personally don’t see how it’s “bad design”
@ yea but splatoon 2 had third kits. You would think by now they would launch with third kits instead of waiting 2 years. All of the updates have been 1-2 weapons and some gear. It just FEELS half baked, which it probably was because they rushed to get this game out before the end of the switch’s lifespan.
The argument I make in the video is that despite not having third kits, the game has more weapon kits overall. I don’t see “third kits” as a specific feature that the game is lacking, because it just distributes the content differently. I personally do not find it half-baked or disappointing, because the game has significantly more ways to play than the previous entry
@@TheCosmicCloud yea but that’s part of the bare minimum expectation of a 60$ sequel. Thats like praising someone for giving you a refill of a drink that you already overpaid for.
Splatoon 3 isn't the worse Splatoon game but it isn't the best but a lot. It's only better than Splatoon 2 by a bit. Splatoon 3 had great new stuff added but there was always some downside to everything the devs added. I know they didn't promise third kits but it was expected that this game was supposed to be bigger but it wasn't. It just leaves a bad taste in players mouths, and for me personally i only play S3 like once a week post content cycle, while S2 somehow kept me coming back after content cycle. It's weird.
@@Salaaaad I understand not preferring the S3 update cycle, but it IS objectively the bigger game. Plenty of things were implemented in sub-optimal ways, like challenges, but it’s disingenuous to act like what Splatoon 3 adds doesn’t exist at all
@@TheCosmicCloud The seasonal content updates need work in the next Splatoon game. It needs to be more consistent content wise. And new things added shouldn't have a downside, open and challenges replacing league, challenges being being limited when first added, not having more multiplayer and salmon run maps than Splatoon 2, (very bad map designs), new main weapons but you don't also get third kits, okay balance for comp, terrible for everyone else, buffing weapons! But it's power creep, table turf! No solo queue for table turf, new tri color mode and stages, still no tri color or challenges in pbs, returning multiplayer modes! No new ranked modes... I think you get the idea. There are problems in this game that are easy to solve but either it's ignored or the devs try to indirectly solve it but it creates more problems. New additions and changes exist but they are implemented in a weird way.

On top, many of the new weapons usually act like some of the existing weapons so they could just go "ehh close enough, Edit is just Heavy and they have different kits" stuff like that
I know you’re trying to make a point with them likely using new weapons in place of third kits, but edit and heavy are not really similar at all
@ as a heavy player, yes they are not the same, but at the same time the merit of my first half still apply that the third kits are replaced by quite an amount of new main weapon in its stead
It's weird that this is the only Splatoon game to not have the N-zap '83.
@Echo__70 you cant just say more things without listing them
@@السراقالمجهول OE is better than SO imo, third kits, funner specials besides ray, armor, and missiles, shifty stations, off the hook being the idols, and overall less annoying weapons like mint, painbrush, s blast and range blaster.
Lack of third kits isn't the worst thing ever but I also wish they didn't take almost 2 years to put 2nd kits into the game, that I think is much worse
nah if they put everything in the game day 1 i wouldve been overwhelmed and stopped playing ages ago
i like that they spread content to keep coming back

@@drift3426 i dont know why cant you guys just pick other weapons, my favorite is reeflux but i play over 10 different weapons and kits, each have their own fun, stop sticking to a single weapon in a game where you have 65 of them, at the very very least try the rest of the class
@ bamboozler is a very unique weapon so it makes sense that certain people who enjoy the weapon will stick to it, so it was insulting to have needed to wait almost the entire 2 years of the game's update and support to get the second kit when weapons not present at launch were getting theirs 6 months later
@@drift3426 pencil is close enough, i think its stats are carried over from bamboo if im not mistaken
I wasn’t expecting 3rd kits so I’m not super upset but there was still 1 small glimmer of hope that it was gonna happen
I expected 3rd kits to become the standard for splatoon, after 3 games it should've been normal not the exception.
(Or had at this point)
There was so much that could have been, map reworks and layouts that could have been great!
Guys trust, wait for the Splatoon 10 year anniversary lol
(Sorry for rambling)
bomb=good
utility=bad

This is why 220 weapons from previous games aren't featured in splatoon 3 and why certain playstyles like natilus and ballpoint splatling with ink jet probably isn’t coming back.
guys, i think this fella never heard of the zip caster kit
@@kristopherhayes1957 yeah but squiffer was never meta anyways :/ the zip caster kit is the best one it has gotten
You say "no duplicate kits", but what about CRB, which is a straight copy from Splatoon 1?
true, but tbf I think he means the vast majority of kits, very few weapons had kits cut whole cloth from previous games
Thing is, while the same in concept, kraken and kraken royale are two different specials, with the latter being a rework of the former. The only specials to ever be imported 1:1 (which would allow for repeat kits with the respective subs) are the Splatoon 2's ones of inkstorm, inkjet, booyah bomb, ultra stamp, tenta missiles (tho for this one could argue the nerf gave it a completely different feel) which were brought to 3
4:28 so no burst bomb cracking Royale Aeros spray?
The main weapon variety is really good in this game, but a lot of the new main weapons are pretty lame, that’s why I wanted 3rd kits. Big swig is just a worse roller, recycled brella is just a brella again but faster, pencil is just charger but 5, etc.
We may have gotten many new main weapons in this game, but really it just feels like 2, and it’s the been the same 2 since launch.
charger but 5 is cool as fuck whats wrong with you?
I think they didn't add third kits because they have no way to have a third table turf card orientation
@@a-ramenartist9734 I’ve heard this argument before, but I really don’t think that would be the limiting factor. They could just add kits to pvp without adding respective tableturf cards
At least theres still time for Dualie Squelchers to get their rightful 30 damage back. please nintendo🙏
I strongly disagree 🦑
@ yeah thats true.
While every other shooter got a great kit, the same cannot be said for the sploosh which gets two kits that are contenders for the worst kits in this game (the Neo variant especially so)
The worst part is that on top of the bad kits, the maps and poor weapon match-ups (thanks to the splatanas) make sploosh less viable as a result.
That's what we gotta focus on, the non-toxic parts of the community, havin a good time :)
Also random side note, just giving my thoughts on the topic, third kits would be a balancing NIGHTMARE think about how many weapons are in this game as is, and it'll only grow with each installment with or without third kits.
We’ve already had a trend of every Splatoon game being rushed in one way or another, and we know Switch 2 is backwards compatible, so I’d really prefer they take their time
@@TheCosmicCloud Oh I don't think it would be a 2025 release either. But I also don't think the Switch 2 will be. I'm a crazy person.

The kits we have now are amazing, but I'm still sad to see that S3 was just a "yearly release game" like call of duty
preach

Whoops I think this double posted by accident
