Approximately 30 g batches of different raw materials were weighted and mixed, by using a powder shaker, and melted in platinum crucibles in an electric furnace at 1400 °C for 3 hours in air. Reagent grade SiO2 (p.a., Fluka), CaCO3 (p.a., Panreac), Na2CO3 (p.a., Riedel de Haen) were used as starting materials in all the synthesised glasses. The melted glasses were then quenched by pouring them into a metal sheet at room temperature.
