- For a good while now I've been putting up with my small carbon tripod but the time has come for a change. Now that I use the Manfrotto 502 Video head nearly all the time I needed a more substantial support. After much research I opted for the Ifootage TC9 in carbon fibre. Join me as we take a walk in the woods, have a bit of a bushcraft lunch and show you the new piece of kit. I think you'll be impressed!!

Good review, thanks
Great review, exactly what I wanted to see. Wonderful meal in the field too.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏼
Looks great. Cheers Simon 👍
Super video and great demonstration, fierce practical. Thanks
Glad you liked it!👍🏼
Great tripod 🙌👍
Ifootage also makes the world's best monopod!
Awesome video Simon. I stumbled upon your video of the Manfrotto fluid head and was originally looking for a comparison to the gimbal head. I am pretty new into wild life photography/video from what I normally do and watching your video has provided a great deal of tuition of equipment to use. I Fortunately already have the same fluid head as you... so that made me happy. Thanks for the share Simon.😉👍👍👍👍👍
Glad it was helpful Kim and glad youre enjoying the channel 👍🏼
Nice review Simon . You always inspire me to get out there, not that I need it mind as I am out every day! Thought I was watching Richard Outdoors there for a minute…😉
Great review Simon, and a added bonus cookery demo I follow Thomas H as well and have being in Awe of the tripod for a while Il try to be good between now and christmas maybe santa will suprise me. I hope you good some good footage of the barn owls. All the best Pat.
Cheers Pat, its areally good tripod. Hopefully the big lad with the beard will do you proud!!👍😄
best post of a landscape type tripod i have seen ....exhalent.
peace pall
Thanks Mick 👍
Thank you, Simon. I've had a TC6 for a while, but really started to want more height. Your review just convinced me, and I've now purchased the TC9. 😃
Nice one Peter, you won't be disappointed. A great tripod 👍
@@simoneardley I love it. I’ve used it twice in the last three days, and it’s brilliant in a stiff breeze; plus those extra long legs are great on sloping ground. 👍
Love that tripod . Proper spoon when it's been set on fire lol. Made one today with that cherry I got off you the other day. Always good seeing trails that I walk myself and I've camped in that lunch spot many times and shot a good few films there myself 🙂. beautiful woodland .
Cheers fella, atb Rick n Billydog
Cheers Rick, yeh that Cherrys lovely. Going to have a do myself with it next week. Too nice to chop for logs!!😆 Cant beat those woods👌👌
Nice video, Bye from Italy :)
Tripod looks mint Simon 👍📸🎥
Cheers Paul, im pretty impressed with it.👀👍
No wonder you were knackered, it was that field kitchen you were carrying! 😂🤣
Haha, fair shout. Don't mind carrying a bit of extra weight, giving the new bag a test !!😆😆
You just got me subscribed Simon, what with the thumbstick vid and now this! Memories of a trip I did 20 years ago where I lugged a very similar (but aluminium) tripod and a Hasselblad XPan, up Bla Bheinn on Skye. Another great video 👌
Nice one Barry, time flies eh. Thats why we've gotta get out there at every opportunity!! Thanks for the sub👍🏼😀
Very helpful. I have the ifootage videohead on a benro. The head works really well but have been thinking about an ifootage tripod. Adam Gibbs a landscape photog on Vancouver island did a review of that videohead.
Yeh, you'll not go far wrong with it mate. I follow Uncle grumpy myself!!😆🤣
Good timing Simon been looking for a new carbon fibre one to replace my manfrotto stainless steel one, i was looking at gitzo but they are eye watering and i wanted somthing you can get low down with, also to hold the manfrotto head and a 500mm f4 it looks great and very similar to my manfrotto just i cant get as low down because of the column well you can but its very clumbersome with a big lens on.📸👍
I was referring to Gitzo when i mentioned' eye watering'!! You wont go far wrong with the tc9👌
Great Review Simon. Glad you like the Tripod. Liam ProAV
Cheers Liam, its a cracking bit of kit 👌👌🎥📷
Great viewing. Regards
Cheers, thanks for watching 👀👍🏼
Great review, definitely got me looking now. Can you tell me what the upper leg length is Simon? I'm trying to find a tripod that can fit the LensCoat leg wraps to
Hi, cheers. The upper leg length is approx 500mm.
Brilliant video. Where can I get one of those amazing stoves??
Haha, its this dodgy Yorkshire bloke I know. I'll see if I can get his number for ya!!!🤣🤣🔥
Get an Ifootage Q1S QR plate system for this … YOU won’t be sorry. No more unscrewing heads & wasting time & energy. Trust me it’ll be the best piece of equipment you’ll ever buy.
Yeh, ive got a couple now. Theyre a fantastic piece of gear arent they 👍🏼👌🏼
Nice tripod Simon. Love that leveling feature but I could never go back to lever locks. Used to catch on everything and drive me crazy so I switched to twist locks. Is that a Shimoda Action 70 bag you are using there?
Yeh i get where youre coming from Dave , always a trade off somewhere. Yes, well spotted, its the Shimoda X70, great pack !!👍🏼📷👌
Hi Simon, where do to get those cargo style trousers? They look hard wearing!
Fjallraven Vidda Pro trousers Paul. Not cheap but great quality.
Excellent Simon, I was after a second tripod and will give this a try as it looks the business! All the best, Rich.
Cheers Rich, it is a great tripod.
I am also looking for a lighter alternative that will handle the 502AH, I have a Manfrotto 055 Aluminium which has the same footprint as the head, just the size and weight with the head is a bit of a handful. How do you find the overall weight and balance of the TC9?
Dont get me wrong Steve, its not a small tripod and with that head on it is never going to be a lightweight setup but theres always a trade off when youre looking for a solid stable work platform. I certainly wouldnt go any smaller for the 502.👍
@@simoneardley many thanks. I guess your right it’s a trade off with that mass at the top of long legs light or heavy, the quick release you recommended is working a treat as I can mount both body and lens foot. Last question what is your view on the Tamron G2 from a quality of the shots. I also have a D500 and am looking at that as my next investment. Thanks for the response.
The bubble level on the top is why I quit using it. Why have it if it's unuseable. I have the tc9. I understand if your head has a level. But what if it doesn't? Completely ruins having a bowl head. You can get another attachment to show level. But it should be on the head where it can be seen.
Yeh, I see where youre coming from 👀👀
The bubble level looks like if vanishes under the head, not so useful.
Well spotted but the Manfrotto 502 AH has a built in bubble level so theres no problem on that score👍
