- I know its been a while since the last film but this moving house game is playing havoc with the channel and film production. Anyway the great news is that we've found a house and will hopefully be moving in soon!!
In the meantime Sirui got in touch and asked if I was interested in testing a new tripod that they are releasing. When I saw the tripod I jumped at the chance as its one of the few on the market that is actually aimed at Wildlife Photographers. Its got a camo colour scheme!!

Great review Simon...I use a monopod a lot, but has it's limitations, Been meaning to get a tripod for a while, none seem to be perfect for wildlife, this one seems great. I love photographing Golden Plover, Dotterel, Grouse etc on the Black mountain, Carmarthenshire. It's very open there so need a tripod to open wide so that I can lay down hidden...and this one certainly caters for that. Thanks again for a great review.

The tripod looks good and Sirui are a good brand but I think this looks a bit cheap, the colour looks wrong should be more drab and better camo pattern more like the Innoral version... All the best with your move 👍🇬🇧

My GoPro Hero 8 is getting a bit old now and I was thinking of changing! Saying that do I stick to a new GoPro!!!!! Maybe a Xmas present. Tripod looks pretty good, loving the colour. Hi Rich, the Pocket 3 is a real gem!! Ive basically trimmed my vlogging setup down to the DJI Action 2 and the Pocket 3. Super small and great for travelling with. As far as the GoPro is concerned I would favour the DJI Action any day, well worth a look at. Still waiting to sign up but we'll get there eventually🤞🏼All the best, Si 👍🏼👊🏼

I really like the look and color of the tripod. I, too, use a Monfrotto video head 608. It would have been cool if they made the case camo. But I wouldn't use it either. Lol Greg
Nice one Greg, Ive started using the legs with the Manfrotto video head. Its a lighter setup than with my big Ifootage tripod, great for walkabout photography. I'll certainly be showing the new spread off when we eventually get there!!😂👊

The tripod and gimbal look a quality piece of kit Simon. I know Sirui make quality products, I have one of their ballheads and an unbelievably light monopod. My Feisol tripod is similar to the Sirui but not camo and has the bowl feature for levelling as you demonstrated. I like it because it only weighs 1kg without a head and I use it mostly at less than 3 feet high as I’m normally sat on a grass mound under a tree. You’re right, travelling light makes your day out a lot more enjoyable. Good luck with your ongoing projects and looking forwforward to the next video.

Good evening Simon, nice to hear from you. We'd been hoping that all was going well with the house move (always a trauma) and that the process pans out as you hope. Tripod interesting, but the rate of progress with camera technology amazes me at the moment, and I won't be moving anywhere for a while - and if prices continue to rise at this rate, I'll be heading backwards in time to 4x5 or 6x6 film. Best to you and yours. Hope you find time for the odd passing visitor in Powys. J&A&B&T

Purchase care, indeed. I am still happy with my Canon EF kit, using it on and R3 with an adaptor would be a joy, but I'm not making money from images, so even an R6MkII is a stretch. I do so much enjoy using my old film kit too. Anyway, keep posting when you are able, J and I will be watching. Keep us in the loop. Aynsley.

Most excellent review...you've discussed some things I haven't thought of or presented by other reviews I've watched on this. Thank you for providing this. Question though...for those of us with an external zoom 600mm (in my case Sigma 150-600 Sport) will the tension adjustment on the tilt be able to compensate/dampen for the different center of gravity as the lens may be extended or retracted? TY.
Thanks, Ive checked on the tilt and the tension is gradual so yes it will be fine for a lens that zooms externally and alters the centre of gravity.

Nice one Simon. I like the legs,I'd stick with my gitzo fluid gimbal, though, as I love it. Does the ball part come with the gimbal or the tripod? Good to see you back mate 👍
Cheers Stevie, it comes with the tripod legs. The gimbal can be mounted on any normal tripod if required.

Hi David, I went back to Nikon. It was always my first choice ( the Z9). I wasn't 100% happy with the DOF on the micro 4/3 system and much prefer the look of the images shot with full frame and large prime lenses. Dont get me wrong the OM1 is an amazing camera with many plus points, weight, AF, ProCapture being some of them but I'm glad I went back to Nikon with so many amazing lenses coming from them at the moment. Hi Simon, enjoying the Videos, how are you attaching your Tripod (TC9) to the Savotta. I have same tripod but because its 3 sections, its not as compact as I would like.
Thanks Hugh, i lie it horizontally under the top flap of the Savotta. Works a treat.
Camouflage tripods , like carp anglers Camouflage bait buckets catch more a anglers than fish and I'm guessing exactly the same with the Camouflage tripods, catch more photographers . Any dark colour will do exactly the same thing in my humble opinion. Definitely won't be buying one anytime soon, stick with my Manfrotto Pro 55 and Benro gimbal for my Canon R6 mk 2 and a 500mm f4 mk2 lens

Blimey Simon looks a great move ! You are copying me at the moment. I too have the Pocket DJI 3 and the Camo Sirui legs . I have used mine for some time and can confirm they do what is said on the tin !I did a short review on them a couple of months back if anyone wants another opinion on them before buying. After all the legs are £400 here in the UK . Glad all is well in the Eardley camp Wales sounds great . I too am buying a new home a Camper van, hopefully like you before Christmas . Wales is high on my list to visit so perhaps when you have got your feet under the table we could do a Collaboration ?
