@@Steve-si8hx I think because Rice's first instrument was mandolin. Mando tuning is a reverse order of 4 strings on guitar. So the chord formations and picking patterns are backwards, or upside-down from guitar. Playing both instruments, and seeing Patrik's demonstration, has led me to this conclusion. 🎸🪕🔑
Great lesson! I’ve been following you for years and am not only impressed by watching your playing progress, but seeing your channel grow. Congratulations on your success. You’ve worked hard for it!
Gotta keep listening and watching and mostly playing playing playing this song. It seems simple until you jump in. So many notes, so little time! thank’s for breaking it down into bite size chunks!
Seriously, I just love your honesty in the way you guide the way through a tune, and you're a damn good picker as well. Tack så mycket!
This is without a doubt the hardest song to learn. The amount of difficulty is insane. Cross picking, alt picking and some stuff I have no idea how he does it and that’s just the right hand. The left is insane as well runs in a g chord shape with a middle finger are you kidding. Then there’s the part when it isn’t on the down beat. The record is good but to see how it’s done like it’s nothing the video will make you want to give up and burn your guitar. Absolutely the GOAT.
Man , your great it's good to see someone else get frustrated while playing this song besides me. But your alot better at this one than i am. Thanks for this lesson. I didn't realize how many notes i was missing. Congrats on your TH-cam site its awsome.
Love the start of this 😂😂 ... Just wanted to say thanks for all your videos lessons ... I'm basically a fingerstyle player just starting to do some flatpicking stuff after being blown away watching Billy Strings ... Any chance you could do a beginner / intermediate lesson on Wildwood flower ? Am currently enjoying learning Jimmy the Newsboy 😊 ...and thanks again !

I feel like I’ll never under stand how to get that flow on that fast lick. The one you’re showing at 11:04 - I have the rest down. And I can play that fast lick slow. But I have no idea how to get the flow of it correctly up to speed. It sounds nothing like you and Tony. It’s been killing me for nearly a year
Just gonna throw this idea out. Billy strings did a solo Livestream a long time ago and one of the songs he covered was "lay me down a pallet on the floor" It was cool to see a flat picking version of that old tune. I'm gonna learn from his video, it's pretty easy, but it would be cool to see you teach/play it.
@@Flatpicknation th-cam.com/video/BtuGnNlX-UI/w-d-xo.html Awesome man! Here it is. It's the first song he plays. This and the part 2 Livestream have so many great songs to cover.
I love you even more for making this video. I am SO relieved to see that someone as good as you....gets pissed off like me. Now I know there’s hope.
This vid reveals a key ingredient in Tony's unique approach to cross-picking. Hats off to Patrik ! !
Whats that ?

You have great videos and a great guitar collect ! I’m considering buying a RK DR 126. What are your thoughts on that model? Have you played one?
Can you play it in the original style of Norman Blake?
I have a lesson on that aswell.
