I reversed my fatty liver disease by simple changes to my diet. I didn’t “diet”. What I did I do? I did this: go from 3 meals a day to 2 meals a day, drink more water and hardly any soda or sweet tea ( a killer for me 😂), reduced carbs, and eliminated sugary desserts. Nothing drastic or super difficult. Minor but firm changes. Results - liver is great, triglycerides great, cholesterol great, blood pressure and blood sugar great, and down from 270 to 220lbs. My body fat has gone from 30 plus to around 12%. I’ve recently added a little cardio exercise. My goal is single digit body fat. I’m getting closer to looking like I did when I was a young buck! Best to all of you. You can do it!

Most meds are metabolized through the liver (CYP450). Tamiflu apparently nearly took my life, so you might want to add that and NSAIDs/Tylenol to your "NO" list.

    • @CarolReidCA
      @CarolReidCA หลายเดือนก่อน

@@ts-maddog4639ask your doctor about Buprenorphine or oxycodone. Despite the issues with them re:addiction for some, these may be safer than other meds, for some people, yet are rarely given for arthritis. This is the problem with politicization and abuse of medications. NSAIDS are liver damaging, too.
Whatever you do, be careful and weigh your risks.

In 2015 I found out that I not only had Fatty Liver, Nash, and Stage 4 cirrhosis all at the sametime. Most of my liver was covered by cirrhosis. This was so advanced that there was very little time to turn the tide. I ended up in 2017 being in liver failure and was put on the transplant list. In 2018 I was transplanted. I am now a physical mess. If you have NASH, NAFLD, or fatty liver take it VERY seriously!

. . . & anyone else who cares to listen:
Understand that BIg Health Care (HMOs like Kaiser Permanente) are just like Big Pharma. They're industries out to make all the money they can. That's what being in business is all about.
If they don't prescribe all those pills, tests, and procedures, etc., they'll go bankrupt & out of business.
Keeping you sick, medicated, hospitalized & coming back for more is how they stsy in business.
There is no profit for them if they explain to patients that by making changes to their diet, exercising, avoiding toxins, they can avoid or reverse their aches & pains, swelling, fatigue, shortness of breath due to chronic diseases & disorders like Diabetes, heart disease, fatty liver, autoimmune disorders, cancers, etc.
The food industry is yet another business out there to make money, as are the greedy politicians who are supposed to regulate them & protect us.
The folks who make it into gov't roles are bought & paid for by ALL of these businesses, corporations & industries by way of campaign donations and other monetary incentives. They get them into positions of authority & power and are repaid by being allowed to continue doing what they're doing - making money off of the uninformed public: you and me.
Don't put all the blame on your doctors. They work hard at their jobs, hoping for promotions & raises, just like anyone else. It's the huge employers that dictates their training and their job descriptions, i.e., prescribe this drug and that treatment for this ache, pain, condition, concern or complaint.
If you think about cigarettes, how is it even still legal to manufacture & sell this carcinogenic, poisonous, deadly product? Because of the same process I just described: The big tobacco companies have enough money to buy the votes of our policy makers who will see to it that they can stay in business.
It's not hard to see that greed & corruption are the only way this is allowed to continue.
Not so easy to see in the medical industry as is in the glaring example of tobacco, but it's all the same, and all about the almighty dollar. Don't kid yourself.
Be discerning. Inform yourself as best you can so that you can make sound decisions.
The first & best decision you can make is to take charge of your health EVERYDAY. It's YOUR choice, your diet, your lifestyle. Don't leave the outcome to someone else.

If your body is asking you to stop, please heed it's call. One of the wisest things a doctor said to me recently was "If you don't deal with your wellness now, you will be forced to deal with your illness later" Please don't make the mistake of ignoring the warnings now and think nah, I'm doing okay even if things are a bit wonky. There comes a point where things are suddenly not okay, and it's too late to do anything about it. And that time comes quickly.

Four weeks ago I came off sugars, grains and soft drinks - only using olive oil. Since then I have noticed definite improvements in mobility, and aches and pains have subsided. I feel better already. Started on green tea and use inulin and husk fibre which I drink each day and this is keeping me regular. That is not good as this leads to the sugars going straight to the liver as fatty liver accumulation . The body stores the sugars quicker when you are fasting .

Exercise builds muscles and endurance, not eats up fat. Thats the cals in, cals out theory. And it doesnt work.
Ive lost 55# without doing more than rare walking.
Exercise is great when its an activity you enjoy...a basketball game, tennis, kayaking, hiking, raking leaves, tearing down walls and cabinets for a kitchen and bath rehab, rollerblading, surfing, moving your friend into their 3rd story apt. Even lifting weights for say 20-30 min, 4 dys a week, upper body one day, lower body the next, might be enjoyable for you. HIIT has some physiological value and def helps with aging issues. But exercise as burning fat, nah.

chadzwife1 I lost weight by calorie deficit simple science. Exercise absolutely helped get me there. So exercise definitely will make one lose fat IF they are in a calorie deficit. Easier way to be in a deficit is thru diet, hence the keto part. I chose high intensity exercise for the cardiovascular benefits (my cardiologist concurs) & because it burns more calories that just walking. Not only have I lost fat, but gained muscle (so now I’m stronger & burn even more calories at rest), but no more fatty liver, high BP, & high cholesterol. Congrats to you on losing pounds as well.

That's funny... I lost 110 pounds in a year without caloric deficit dieting nor did I do cardio... I only utilized intense training training techniques and bodybuilding exercises. I was utilizing a traditional bodybuilding diet and was eating well in excess of my Bmr. Taining days I was eating between 4000-5000 calories. The two days I did not train I would eat 2500-3000 calories.
I have also lost 60 pounds in 3 months from only strictly dieting. No cardio or weight training. Super low carb diet which was almost a carnivore diet. Mostly red meat.
The point is you can most definitely lose weight with exercise alone... Or diet alone. But it's best to combine them.

  • @tommycharles4666

I know this sounds hard, guys. But what you'll find is that the less sweet stuff you eat, the less you'll want to eat. The brain re-adjusts. Sweetness is tied into your reward pathway. The more you slam that "Oh, god, sweetness!" button, the more your brain will want you to slam it. This was important for survival when carbs were scarce in our environment. Not so helpful now that Little Debbie is hustlin' on every corner. If you stop eating sugar, and manage to stop for a decent interval of time, your reward pathway will reset. The cravings will diminish. Also, the less carb you eat, the more fat you need to eat. And guess what? Fat is effing delicious! I lost over 50 lbs with ketogenic diet and now have normal blood sugar and blood pressure.
You can do it. Do I miss waffles? On very rare occasions. Am I ever tempted to eat them after 1.5 years of abstinence? Nope. Also, my weight loss increased after I limited diet soda to weekends only. Correlation isn't causation, but I suspect artificial sweeteners may screw with metabolism, probably by stimulating insulin release. 12:06 And yeah, IF becomes very easy on keto. In no time at all, I was down to 1 meal per day because I just wasn't hungry. Fat and protein are very filling. I now work out between 85 and 120 minutes per day, 6 days per week, and still maintain 1 meal per day. The idea that you need to eat multiple meals to perform athletically is a total myth. I train on the glycogen that my liver produces from the protein I eat, my body fat, and the 0-20 net carbs I eat each day.
One more thing...chew! Chew each bite until the texture is gone. Meaning, sorry to be gross, it becomes liquid in your mouth. This was a game changer for me. It makes your meal last longer, and it gives your stomach time to signal to your brain that it has received food. If you do this, you will be content on fewer calories. Your portion sizes will get smaller.

My dad passed away in April from liver failure caused by fatty liver disease. He did not listen to his doctors. This was not a pleasant 2-3 month process. He had schizophrenia like symptoms, didn’t know who we were especially as the end drew near. At one point he did come clear and told me that something was wrong with his brain and he knew we were trying to help him. That was the last real conversation I would have with before he was sucked back into the psychosis. He didn’t sleep at all during this process. I have to tell you that I never want to be in that state. It certainly opened my eyes. Please listen to what Dr. Berry says. It’s the same advice that my dad’s doctors told us for preventing fatty liver.

So sorry for that loss. Tragic. Had you tried changing your dad’s diet this way when he was diagnosed? Did it help? Was he resistant? My mom had heart disease and cancer and I tried to change her diet but she was very resistant and holding on to the “western” healthy diet which is full of grains. She just would not change her thinking.

Not a lot, but when I do it's usually slices of salami, pepperoni, or the like. Never ever potato chips or a candy bar or any of that stuff. As someone who drank far too much soda, and fruit juices, I can tell you, if you are skeptical about what he says, don't be. The change in your physical state, mental state, and general existence is so vastly improved by cutting out especially sugar, and double especially high fructose corn syrup is unbelievable.
