I worked there that summer. It was the best Job and summer I have ever had. Now my daughter who just turned 18 will be working and living there just as I did🙂
My 1st visit to CP was in 1996 when mantis was brand new. Such good memories! I remember being absolutely blown away by magnum's lift hill. I'd never seen anything like it back then. I snuck a Kodak disposable camera on the ride with me and took a picture at the base of the lift hill looking up it. I still have the pic in an album. These kids nowadays don't realize how good they have it with all these giga coasters and their fancy cell phones 😄 I'd go back to the 90's in an instant if i could. Such a great time in my life. Thanks for sharing the video. (I really miss wildcat btw.... always loved that little ride)
Did you see or get to ride Pirate Ride by the Blue Streak? 1996 was it's final year of operation. It was a spook house dark ride with bang doors and themed rooms and you rode in boat shaped cars that were powered by and guided by a center rail. The building is now used for a Boo Hill fun house in the fall. The Pirate Ride props and cars were saved and put into storage, and some props would be displayed during HalloWeekends.
I was absolutely obsessed with that coaster for a few years. I went almost every weekend in 1994 and most weekends in 1995, because of that ride alone.
And I discovered through a book that I bought at the park, I'm from near Dorney Park (where Demon Drop now is) that Raptor replaced a log flume called Mill Race in 1994. They also got rid of White Water Landing after 2005, and more recently closed Shoot the Rapids which opened 2010. They got rid of Turnpike cars for Valravn, and more recently got rid of Antique Cars in Frontiertown for more seating areas based on guest feedback. They still have Cadillac Cars though. And, Pirate Ride closed after 1996 and the building is now used as a Boo Hill fun house in the fall I believe. I rode Pirate Ride over and over in June 1995. Dorney Park had a similar ride that burned Sept. 28, 1983 called Bucket O' Blood, it was Pirate's Cove from 1962-1974, and Devil's Cave before that since the 1930's. CP's 125th summer was 1995, and Dorney Park's 125th summer was 2009. Cedar Fair bought Dorney July 1992.
Thanks for watching, Jacob! I have been going to the park since the mid 70's and always am surprised at how much the park has changed over the decades. Every time I drive up the causeway and see that skyline, it always boggles my mind that a place like that exists.
It's so weird seeing those shots of Raptor without Dragster, MF, or even Rougarou/Mantis in the background. I love those shots of Magnum and Raptor from the Ferris Wheel's old location.
You heard it here first, in 1995 Sean predicted the Giant Wheel would be moved to the front of the park! 5 years before anyone else. Lol. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Ha ha! Those were the days. It's strange because I also mentioned Wildcat "moving" and being replaced with bleachers. Hmmmmm. Wasn't 1995 the year we met? If so, happy friend-a-versary! :)
Sean Flaharty indeed it was the tear we met. Standing at the front gates that year waiting for the park to open! I remember you were wearing your Desperado shirt! I struck up a conversation saying how I wanted to ride it… and well… the rest is history!
Back then rumors were all over the place in regards to new rides. There was a rumor that a big B&M stand-up would be coming to the park. It ended up being true.
Probably the first season I ever went to Cedar Point, and I was four years old at the time - skyline and park has changed GREATLY over the last twenty-five years!
same year and same month of my first ever trip there to cedarpoint, it would be so awesome if this day recorded is the same exact day i went to cp . awesome memories it has changed so much since than, i miss the pirate ride, and the only intamin there at that time was wilderness run, CP was full of arrow dynamics back than
When I recorded this video, there was a rumor going around that the world's largest B&M stand-up was going to be installed there, with a layout of six inversions and no vertical loop. Well, half of it was correct anyway. Ha ha.
@@SeanFlaharty yh I can't imagine cedar point being a bad theme park, also wat coasters where around in the 70s then, I can only think of gemini ( i think ) and blue streak
@@Demon-POT You had Blue Streak , Mine Ride, Wildcat and a little number called Jumbo Jet. Corkscrew didn't show up til 76 and Gemini was 78. the 70's also featured a double ferris wheel and you had not one but TWO sky rides. The second sky ride was called The Frontier Lift and it was very long, taking you over a mass of undeveloped property over to Frontier Town
Yep, it was still "the ride" when this video was taken. Raptor took away some of its thunder but I clearly remember waiting an hour plus each time I rode it back then.
Does anyone remember when they only had the Silver Streak Coaster ,,,one of their first Coasters,Ir the upside down house ,,,Pretty awesome ,,,Great Video 🤘😁🤪
The upside down house was one of my favorites. I loved going though that when I was a kid. I was really bummed when they removed it for King Arthur's Court....or whatever it was called. I only went into that thing once.
I worked there summer of 94 & 95. Do you have any footage of the laser light show summer of 95? Me searching for that brought me to this video. New subscriber here. This brings back memories.
Unfortunately, I didn't record any of the laser light show. I don't know how it would be to record a laser show nowadays but my camera didn't pick up lasers very well back then. Thanks for watching!
It's awesome to see the past of Cedar Point, I wish I was a 70s/80s kid, growing up with this kinda stuff would be awesome, and getting to visit these parks and riding half of TTD would be crazy as well to see that be the tallest thing.
I have had a few others suggested I do a complete vlog with some of my older cameras. While I still have most of my older cameras in storage, the 8MM Canon I recorded this with bit the dust a couple years later so I switched to Sony and. Hi8.

Good ole' Raptor and Magnum. They still deliver after all of these years!
They sure do!

Coaster Enthusiasts: a new coaster is coming soon!
Back when Raptor really ruled the sky there.

Amazing how the park has changed so much in just 25 years!
It really has. I have been going to the park since the mid-70s and have seen it change many different ways. It's such an incredible place!
So cool seeing magnum and raptor as the star attractions and signs of mantis construction!!! Awesome video!!!

Sean Flaharty Same, and I drive the cause way to work every day! 😂
It's so weird seeing those shots of Raptor without Dragster, MF, or even Rougarou/Mantis in the background. I love those shots of Magnum and Raptor from the Ferris Wheel's old location.
I wish I had a video or film camera around back when I first started going to the park in the mid 70s. It was so different.
Crazy that Magnum was only 6 years old at this point!
It is strange. That was was still incredibly popular back then.
And Raptor only a year old
the first year and month i first rode this, end of jul 1995. my dad took me lol magnum had a 2 hr wait than omg

I predict a B&m stand up 😁
And maybe a coaster to break the 300 foot height in a few years.
Wow this brings back memories. Sean was vloggin before vlogs were even a thing 😂
Ha ha! It's strange to see some of the footage I recorded, even back in the 80s, as it was very "vlog-like" as well.
Wow! Cool to see all the survey markers for Mantis!

I hadn't watched this footage for years until I edited it months ago. It's crazy to see how much the park has changed in twenty-five years.
The amount of trees!!! So weird without millie or mantis over by the train tracks

He really did predict a B&M for Mantis' plot. Hilarious.

When Raptor looked brand new and didn't have bird poop all around it :D
I'm so used to seeing Dragster tower over the skyline that this footage just looks wrong 😂
God it looks soooo different!

Year of my first visit! While I love it still, there was something magical (roomy) about the place back then.
It really was a much different place. It was still an incredible place, even back then.
Still have my 125 summers shirt
Anyone else think old videos in 60fps are just mesmerizing to watch?
Thank you!
Used to go there all the time from Michigan ,Great Video 🤘

Hey, Sean Flaharty! Do you have a video of Buzzsaw Falls at Silver Dollar City?
I never recorded any footage of that ride, even though I did ride it a couple of times.
You should film Cedar Point with your camcorder in 2022
