It’s funny The Scooby-Doo book having a V-for vendetta add was recalled, yet kids now get adds on their phones and tablets about everything even completely unrelated and inappropriate things
Love these historical and impeccably researched videos you do. In less than 14 minutes you are able to capture the topic, popular culture milestones and actual world history. No other comics channel or any comics coverage outlet can match that. Keep ‘em coming! ❤
I had a subscription to Wolverine when I was younger so I have the original uncensored Wolverine #131 and I got a letter from Marvel about the issue and that I could return for a new copy. I always wondered if having the letter with the book increased the value at all.
the superman one where he’s holding beer is crazy, like why can’t they show clark drinking beer? it doesn’t ruin the character or anything he’s just sharing a beer with his dad
Well there's a few here I didn't know about. I actually bought 2 copies of Dazzler at the same time and ended up with both the B&W and corrected versions of those pages!
The Walking Dead has an issue where the 3rd to last page is also the last page making the story in complete. Issue 35. I had this and screamed about the ending.
It's 48 actually. It's funny that "alf comic seal" is the first that comes up when you enter "alf comic" into Google. As far as I know it wasn't recalled
I live in Canada, and I had the recalled TMNT #4. From what I could learn, there were between 500 and 1,000 copies that made it exclusively to the Canadian market EARLY because shipping to Canada took a little longer going through customs and whatnot in order to be put on sale the same day as American shops. I got a copy when it came out, but a couple of weeks later my LCS owner - (who was a bit of a scam artist) - demanded that I return the book because they were "ordered" to. The hairs on my neck stood up and I said "No thanks... I'll keep it as a souvenir". Fast forward nearly forty years later, I cleaned and pressed it and got it back as a 9.6 from CBCS a few years ago, and I sold it for $1,200 Canadian.
Your channel always has the videos that give me more knowledge into comics than I already had! Appreciate all the content and all the hard work you’re doing!
I never remember to look for these so will never if I actually owned one. Many of them, the artist were just playing a game of "will I make it in the hall of shame."
Imagine my mc grubby panting and running up stairs on all fours lapping his wounds trying to see for his ck hungry nature his eyes are bulging out and he’s in heat so so excited.
This is premium comic content. The editing, the presentation, the set, the research. Truly commendable effort making this high quality content. If I had a suggestion to step things up, I’d say you would benefit from a better, closer mic that would eliminate a lot of the room noise. Just a suggestion!!
I have a recalled comic called Halle the Hooters Girl. I don't know what it's worth. It was recalled because Hooters restaurant chain threatened a lawsuit against Cabbage Comics for unauthorized use of the name and her outfit.was released in 1998.
Obviously only tangentially related and so obscure as to be of no value; but in one of the very early Spider-Man issues and when my brother and I were kids, we were both puzzled by one panel in a story where a coloring error seemed to suggest Spider-Man was naked. His costume wasn't colored in and his full flesh-colored torso was "exposed". It was strictly above waist so there was no chance to offend.
I’ve got an even better example of the Scooby-Doo #7…a newsstand copy that has the ad! I can’t even imagine how few of those there are. A super low print of the issue in general to begin with, an even smaller portion of newsstand copies to boot, AND only a fraction of those made it out before being recalled? Looking at some super low numbers there.
A Scooby-Doo comic, which had a V For Vendetta ad in it. It was recalled for bizarre reasons. I know it was placed at the wrong time. But, DC is supposed to be for any demographic after all. Especially for today's comic book standards.
I think most dealers do not send their books back when they are told. They know they are going to be worth more money and more collectible if they keep them. I just read that the naked Conan book came came in a polybag. Would that make it just a naked variant? More research to follow. I have the Elektra comic but the panels are so dark it is very hard to tell if she is naked or not. Great video James. Thanks.
9:50 I remember seeing that in Wizard Magazine and seeing it in person at Meltdown Comics!! (Albeit it was in a bag with the lady parts censored with the plastic but that didn't stop me from taking a peek lol)
Bought and sold an Elektra #3 CGC 9.4. Still looking for a 9.8 . Have the full run of spiderman Reign CGC 9.8 recalled in the black & the red covers , very hard to sell here in the UK .
I can already twll this will be a banger video for me! I would like to collect more recalled books and your list will undoubtedly help me out! Thank you!
I got my Universe X Spidey right off the shelf for cover price. It was a few years before I realized how rare it is. Glad it was at the end of your video where the prices were higher.
A few that I'm not sure were ever recalled: Spectacular Spider-Man 200 (story out of order), ASM Vol. 2 #31 (pages missing from the story) and the BIGGEST one is an issue of G.I. Joe: Order of Battle (a who's who entry of Rocky Balboa, but I don't think Marvel ever got permission for that character or things fell through). I have all of these.
A fairly well known one is Death: High Cost of Living #3 which had pages out of order in first printing. There is a second corrected printing that reads "free" on the cover. You could only get the fixed version if you traded the original priced one in at the comic shop.
Little known book in the DC Helix line: recalled Vermillion #12 had a full page of Latin gibberish in the letters section. Then, the fixed reprint had story pages out of order. I understand there was a third and final printing with everything fixed.
There was a Captain America hardcover collection in the early 90s (or maybe late 80s, but I'm pretty sure it was into the 90s) that was recalled because someone had drawn a penis onto Bucky on one of the pages before printing. Pretty sure that goes for a bit of money.
Very cool video... But now I'm going to need to track down the complete LCD run. I did some digging and the second printing of that issue 0 with the new cover is amazing too. And he keeps poking fun at Starbucks in almost every cover.
Reminds me of the changes they made to Mark Millar's Chosen when they collected it as a trade paperback after it got picked up as a Netflix show. The twist in the last issue is completely rewritten for everyone's sanity.
I actually run into that Wolverine comic all the time, and while I’ve never pulled the trigger on it I’ve come across the nude Conan cover at least a half dozen times. I would love to get one of those Elsewirlds or League of Extraordinary Gentlemen books though!
Thought I was gonna see the BPRD Hell on Earth Vol 2 Hardcover. For a while that book was a pain in the ass to get because it was recalled for missing a page, and the new printing probably had a significant smaller circulation. I ended up importing it from a book store in Portugal.
I used to have that Elseworlds #1. I bought it brand new, read it once, didn't like it and put it away. I sold it about 2 years later for £250. I didn't know the recall was due to the microwave baby. I was told at the time that the recall was to do with the potrayal of an inappropriate relationship between Batman and Robin.
I have most of these in my collection. I went on a binge years ago buying recalled books lol. There are so many verified recalled books that you could make a 2nd or 3rd video haha
Just got recommended this and it's very interesting to see all the different reasons to be recalled. I actually picked up my first recalled book recently it was Wolverine #131 and it was only £5 so I guess I did pretty well there!
I have a 3rd issue issue of Gaiman's "Death: The High Cost of Living" miniseries that contained an error in the tiny indicia text at the bottom of the first page (something was off or missing) and an ad page was in the wrong place, and the local comics shop gave out free corrected issues if we'd bought the error edition.
It's a lesser know misprint but Evil Ernie: Straight to Hell #5 from Chaos! Comics in 1995. The first print was put together out of order and they recalled it and sent out a reprint. If I remember correctly the misprint has a green Chaos! logo and the reprint has a white Chaos! logo. I remember the shop I went to at the time offered my dad and I new copies if we brought ours in and we decided to just buy the reprint. About a week or two later he had the first prints out for $50.
I have a copy of a comic that was made for the Px stores during the late 60's . A comic seller had found a box in a warehouse when buying left overs and over runs. there were only 1800 printed but they were recalled .
I wonder what the beef was between al milgrim and bob harris. To hate a guy enough to immortalized his loathing for him in an issue and cost a company thousands to recall an issue is something else.
Fear Agent #2 was recalled for poor paper stock. I still have both versions, plus the notification letter from Diamond Select that I snagged because I was working in a shop at the time. I want to get the original graded, but CGC doesn't seem to differentiate between the versions...
Back in 2017, there was a variant cover for GI Joe #7 announced, with art by Ed Luce. It caught a lot of flak online for featuring a "homoerotic" image of Gung Ho wrestling with some Dreadnoks. However, was that variant cover recalled or did it just never get released? I looked it up recently and I haven't been able to find a copy from resellers anywhere.
I got that Spidey X DF Sketch recalled edition. Bought it from local comic shop in Vancouver back at release. Years later when I heard of the recall, I looked in the comic and lo and behold, it was the recalled edition.
9:56 Uuuhmmm if my memory is right Superman/Kal-El/Clark Kent is AN ADULT. So I dont understand what is the problem to drink Beer. Its not Robin its SUPERMAN.
From the famous ones, there s also a late Sandman issue with a page upside down, X-Men: Manifest Destiny #5 that has a different issue inside, from another ls running at the same month, Witchblade # 76 SDCC b&w Variant that has Wanted #4 inside, and Uncanny X-Men #360 misprint, where the word "uncanny" is cut off the cover, and inside it s X-Men #80.
I was sent... The Dead Rabbit Mixology & Mayhem: The Story of John Morrissey and the World's Best Cocktail Menu by Sean Muldoon... it's a illustrated cocktail Recipe book
Marvel did a reprint volume (Treasury Edition?) of early Captain America stories (the pre-Marvel 1940's ones) where some wag sneaked a bunch of extra drawings onto the yellow plate, where it was barely noticeable, and it got past the proof-readers. Most of it was harmless graffiti, but on one page was a panel of Bucky the Boy Wonder laying on a hospital bed with an erect phallus drawn in yellow on the white sheet, so they recalled it. My local comic shop owner had a copy and used to show it off every now and then.
The Matrix recallled comic is now worth $75 in 9.2 NM- condition according to the current volume of the Overstreet guide. I actually own a copy. Bought it in August 2000 at WizardWorld Chicago for $10.
I'm not sure if it was a full recall....but I know TMNT Color Classic has an error printing that I believe they offered a recall on. As always, great research and great video!
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen supposedly had another recall for the fakecadvf😢era for a Gentlemens Helper..think it was a pastiche of Woody Allen's Orgasmatron from Sleeper..or an Orgone Accumulator from the swinging 60s.. Nice selection of issues I wasn't aware of although the Elektra would be the easiest to commit to memory..just saying..
I've got a copy of G.I. Joe 15 that has a double cover. I guess they stapled in two copies at the factory. Don't know if that makes it worth anything but it's a good story. Snake-Eyes and Kwinn are trying to get from Sierra Gordo to Miami with Dr. Mindbender in tow.
I have a recalled/error Elric #1 by Pacific Comics. This is another one that was caught very early and is extremely rare. According to a letter that I got that came with comic, only 200 were not destroyed. I own the only one listed on CGC as an error edition. I have no idea of what it's value would be. If you look on recalled comics it gives a very good description and pictures of it.
I have the Elric #1 recalled issue that is highlighted on the recalled comics website. The letter I have that was included when I purchased it states that about 200 copies were held back by the publisher and later gifted to various individuals. I only wish I knew for sure how many of the 200 copies still exist, I have posted on several forum sites and searched the internet, but I only know of mine. If you or any of your viewers ever see any additional copies out there please let me know.
i think it’s funny that they recalled electra because she isn’t wearing a bra. but Spectre vol 2 #9 madame xanadu is naked and no CCA sticker but dc is like yep that is good to go.
More recent books are the neon Knight Terrors 1 with incorrect colors on the cover (brown instead of green), and Jenny Zero 1 that had a page from issue 2 replacing a story page in issue 1.
I have the Batman Damned recalled issue and the Dazzler B&W ad issue. Also, Batman #608, Batman Day has an error with the white DC logo on the cover. The corrected version has a black DC logo. I have both of those.
I'm happy the algorithm added this video to my front page. Seems like the comics market is about to explode based on what I saw earlier this year. What do you think of the Price Charting app? I have Tangled Web issue 1 with the wrong cover. Near mint condition after all this time without trying - I put it in mylar this year. I'm curious if it'll appreciate much.
It’s funny The Scooby-Doo book having a V-for vendetta add was recalled, yet kids now get adds on their phones and tablets about everything even completely unrelated and inappropriate things
😂 I’ve seen some of those ads, it’s insane
How many kids would buy this Absolute V for Vendetta comic? It's expensive so I don't think any kid would have money to buy it. Kinda stupid.
I clicked the video because the Scooby book on the thumb. Going to have to go digging - I have a copy and I think my kid does too.
Definitely have a copy of all the Saga issues - been picking it up since day one.
People won't return them, cause now their worth something being recalled
Just checked my Dazzler #1. Got the one with the B&W ads 👍👍
Love these historical and impeccably researched videos you do. In less than 14 minutes you are able to capture the topic, popular culture milestones and actual world history. No other comics channel or any comics coverage outlet can match that.

I had a subscription to Wolverine when I was younger so I have the original uncensored Wolverine #131 and I got a letter from Marvel about the issue and that I could return for a new copy. I always wondered if having the letter with the book increased the value at all.
That’s really cool - the letter should be displayed with it!
I think it adds "Providence" and chain of custody. I would keep it and display them together when you take it out
the superman one where he’s holding beer is crazy, like why can’t they show clark drinking beer? it doesn’t ruin the character or anything he’s just sharing a beer with his dad
Wolverine Black, White & Blood #1 has a mis-print in one of the pages... a lot were destroyed.. don’t know if it worth anything.
Well there's a few here I didn't know about. I actually bought 2 copies of Dazzler at the same time and ended up with both the B&W and corrected versions of those pages!
There ya go!
The Walking Dead has an issue where the 3rd to last page is also the last page making the story in complete. Issue 35. I had this and screamed about the ending.
These videos are my favourite content. And I mean out of all comic sites. The controversial comics show was pure gold. Much appreciated.
You missed Dr. Strange Sorcerer Supreme #15. It was recalled after Amy Grant’s lawyers sued Marvel Comics.
Right!!
Then there's that Alf issue where it looks like Alf is boinking a seal. Number 49 I think.
I don't think it was recalled - just controversial? not positive
It's 48 actually. It's funny that "alf comic seal" is the first that comes up when you enter "alf comic" into Google. As far as I know it wasn't recalled
I actually went through some old comics I had last night in a tote. And that tangled web issue was actually in it.
Wow that's ironic!
@@MintHunterComics yeah I was wondering if you had a spy cam in my house maybe 😜

Probably not gonna try to get any of these because they can be silly, but will try to remember them for if I ever find them. Thanks
There ya go!
Oh, I have that Green Lanterns one. Need to get it rated now than lol.
I seem to remember a recall for a Doomsday Clock issue. It had something to do with the artwork featuring the Legion.
Your channel always has the videos that give me more knowledge into comics than I already had! Appreciate all the content and all the hard work you’re doing!
I appreciate that!
I never remember to look for these so will never if I actually owned one. Many of them, the artist were just playing a game of "will I make it in the hall of shame."
Not me running upstairs to check Batman Damned for the Bat-Wang 😂 (I HAVE IT LMAO)
I have it too lol nice
Imagine my mc grubby panting and running up stairs on all fours lapping his wounds trying to see for his ck hungry nature his eyes are bulging out and he’s in heat so so excited.
Ah, yes, the cursing was the problem with Batman and Robin All-Star, the recall totally fixed all of the issues with that comic run
You mean Peter's Pecker?
I find the rules for comic code to be so funny, so violence, gore, and slurs are all fine and dandy, but a beer and swearing, bad bad no very very bad
lol
I remember having a preschool Super Friends comic with an ad for Mad containing Daenerys caricature with clear protruding nipples.
Adventures Of Superman 596 was released on September 12th 2001, just a day later. I had it in my pull list at the time.
This is premium comic content. The editing, the presentation, the set, the research. Truly commendable effort making this high quality content. These are sweet, I’m honestly surprised they don’t all demand a bit more money
Agreed. A lot of them already got into the hands of collectors so most of these aren’t super rare
I have a recalled comic called Halle the Hooters Girl. I don't know what it's worth. It was recalled because Hooters restaurant chain threatened a lawsuit against Cabbage Comics for unauthorized use of the name and her outfit.was released in 1998.
Now that one I don't know!
Gotta watch this so many times to memorize what I should be looking for!😂

So what's crazy is, I still have that unedited Saga issue(the first one he talked about). In the context of other stuff you see, it aint that bad
Spider-Man Tangled Web #1. The cover, gives me flashbacks to a panel in Amazing Fantasy #15 from 1962.
A Scooby-Doo comic, which had a V For Vendetta ad in it. It was recalled for bizarre reasons. I know it was placed at the wrong time. But, DC is supposed to be for any demographic after all. Especially for today's comic book standards.

According to a letter that I got that came with comic, only 200 were not destroyed. I own the only one listed on CGC as an error edition. I have no idea of what it's value would be. If you look on recalled comics it gives a very good description and pictures of it.
i have a nightwing 98 with three front and back covers… have no clue if it’s a mass error or just a weird one off.
Sounds like an error printing!
Pretty much lol
That backwards cover TMNT is crazy! A whole lot of DC on this list.
Remember those RWBY 7 or some shit that they supposedly pulped but showed up in the DC walmart packs
I would love to have Superman drinking a beer
I own a copy of IRONMAN issue 82 from the 70's, with TWO COVERS ON IT. One attached over the other. Was this ever recalled?
I got the Wolverine one in my subscription. I didn't notice until Marvel pointed it out, my dyslexic ass thought it said what they meant for it to say
6:17 that’s so strange I yelled almost that exact sentence last nighr
I have 2 copy's of the TURTLES reprint !!!!!!!!
