@@treycamardelle I’m having to fix my setup. State law requires 360 coverage and a siren. I wasn’t taking care of stuff like I should’ve and some of the lights get to where they don’t work. Mines a 15 silverado
Yeah, my goal was to make them not so noticeable and still maintain their brightness. I wanted to tint the ones on my hood and my license plate too but I forgot to do it before I put them on.
So this is the first video of your I’ve seen so are you a volunteer firefighter and if so how did you look up your states regulations and what state are you in? Love the set up by the way beautiful truck
Thanks! I’m a paid operator/firefighter. I’m located in Louisiana. I’m not sure how you can look up the regulations. Maybe google Louisiana emergency lights regulations. Our department issues us a lights and siren permit card that we have to be in compliance with.
Awesome light package. Here in PA, even with all of the lights, it is still illegal due to the fact there is no light on the roof that can be seen from 360 degree around the vehicle. The only vehicles that can have any types of emergency lights and not have one on the roof here in PA is police.
If you would just slow the flash pattern down to slow as possible you would get more out of the lights and be seen better… I like how you have it installed though… good job..
Neat setup, man! I'm looking to be a volunteer and I'm trying to get an idea of how I want my truck to look if I get hired on (I unfortunately own a 2017 F-150, not my kind of truck 😒). I'm here in Louisiana and I keep getting mixed messages on lights and sirens on POVs. My dad and Google say that only lights are acceptable and a POV shall not have any sirens or audible devices. On the other hand, a guy who I'm good friends with who use to work for a neighboring Parish as Assistant Chief said otherwise. So I'm not too sure what to believe. Maybe the current Chief can fill me in on it more when I go for an interview. I guess it all depends on the Parish/County in the states anyway? Again, nice setup and slick looking truck overall.
Thank you! So the Louisiana state law allows firefighters to have red lights and audible devices such as a siren. The lights have to be visible from 360° of your vehicle and cannot display any blue. Your fire chief has the authority to allow you or not allow you to have lights and siren on your vehicle. If your chief does allow it then you’re most likely going to have to get a “red light and siren” permit from your fire department signed by the chief.
@treycamardelle No problem, dude! And thanks for everything you do by the way. 👨🚒 🚒 Well in that case, a Fed Sig PA300 siren and a couple red Speedtech lights shall be going on my current truck if I get hired and if I get the OK from the Chief. And if/when I ever upgrade to the truck of my dreams (newer Silverado/Sierra gas-powered dually), I'm installing nothing but Whelen on it.
@@MAGA-Chad whelen is nice don’t get me wrong, that’s what most of my lights are because I was under the impression that whelen was the best of the best. Thanks! No it’s not leveled. It’s about 1-3/4 inches higher in the back. I raised it 3 inches in the front and 3 inches in the back with a supreme suspension 3 inch lift kit. Every lift kit I looked at only offered a leveling kit. I didn’t want it leveled because I tow a bobcat and I didn’t want my truck to have a California lean where the back is lower than the front. This way when I tow the trailer my truck looks level.
I’m sorry, I’m use to people commenting on my other video. In one of my first videos I go into detail on what light brands and names of the lights I have.
The siren box is in the middle console arm rest. I just tapped into the MAN and AIR HORN buttons on the siren box and added new momentary switches on my dash so I don’t have to keep raising and lowering my arm rest to control the siren. And the light switches are on the side of my center console by my leg.
I have a Whelen 8 head dominator that I turned into a 10 head dominator by welding 2 more lights on it, one on each side. In my first video of my truck I show the actual light. Check it out so you can see what I’m talking about.
I took out the clothes hanger hooks and bent some flat bar to make the bracket, then I screwed the bracket into the spot that the clothes hangers went in.
Yes I still have this truck. I think the max towing rating for this truck with the ecodiesel engine is around 13,000 pounds. But I pull floats in the Mardi Gras parades every year and the floats with 30 people plus beads weigh around 25,000 pounds. I’m only doing about 5 mph when I tow them but it still pulls it with no problem.
No problems yet. I’ve had it for about 5 years now and I haven’t had to do anything to it besides the normal maintenance (oil change, filter change, etc…). It had a few minor recalls, but the dealership took care of them. I get about 18mpg in the city and about 24mpg on the highway. I fill up at a half of a tank about once every week and a half to two weeks depending on my driving.
