ALBA, ITALY - Welcome to Alba, the world’s capital of Alba white truffles - one of the most expensive ingredients in the world. Today we’re going on a white truffle tour of Alba, we’ll go on a truffle hunt, eat at one of the world’s best truffle restaurants and then visit the International Alba White Truffle Fair. Let’s go see why white truffles are so prized throughout the world!

Truffle hunt - First we’re going on a truffle hunt with Alba Royal Truffles (albaroyaltruffles.com/) - they are renowned for their authentic and some of the best white truffles. We were able to see the entire process of how Joe the dog works with the truffle hunter to find and harvest white and black truffles. Black truffles are above the surface whereas white truffles are a fungus that grows underground and can only be sniffed out by dogs. It was very educational to see. We also had our first taste of Alba white truffles with a few courses at the headquarters.
Bovio Restaurant, La Morra, Italy (maps.app.goo.gl/TkDowyV6KGV36...) - Next up we continued on to easily one of the world’s best Italian food truffle restaurants serving Piedmont cuisine. We decided to buy our own white truffle - and we choose an 80 gram truffle for 400 Euros, after carefully choosing one. Then we ordered a bunch of different dishes, and shaved on th white truffle ourselves. It was a spectacular meal and more white truffles than I’ver ever had in my life in one sitting.

It was a lot of fun as there’s auctions, and plenty of food to eat.

It was so cool getting to meet Mark at the truffle festival. That's my youngest daughter in the red top and black vest while the team was having lunch. Mark is every bit as genuine, humble and gracious in person and made sure that I got to meet the rest of the team. Happy travels from Dallas, Texas!

@@gregorygant4242 Though Cinzano is from Turin, Asti has Perlino which produces his vermouth and spumante wines locally. I basically grew up a few km away from the factory.
I like the sincere expression his Thai wife made after tasting or smelling the truffles. It gives me a perspective of those foods based on Thai’s food preferences.
Joe the truffle harvester is the sweetest dog ever!! Those white truffles look amazing I bet their aroma & taste is just a exquisite pleasant experience all together. The creamy pasta or carbonara is one my absolute favorite so I can just imagine the flavor of roasted garlic butter sauce drizzled over the pasta garnished off with nutty white truffles... Omgoodness!! What a tasty combination of sensational brilliance. Mark you certainly know what phenomenal ingredients do to a magnificent dish per say so I definitely trust your culinary expertise. He has done an amazing job finding a niche as a TH-cam food blogger before anyone else thought of it...and he works hard to produce good quality content...so kudos.
He isn't a foodie at all. After doing this for so many years his food knowledge outside Thailand is next to nothing.
But he seems a very nice guy...so I'm not gonna bury him because he doesnt actually have an interest in food!
I would support him more if he didn't shovel his food.

I used to live near a high-end produce store that had all kinds of products from Europe and unique cheeses. They had a semi-hard cheese from Italy that tasted like gouda and had black truffle bits in it. The cheese was already incredible but the truffle bits were sublime! It is impossible to describe and can only be understood by tasting it. You can find truffle-infused oils in stores like TJ Maxx Homegoods and Marshalls to get an idea of what truffles taste like. I have read that most of those oils don't contain any real truffle but give a simulation of the flavor, similar to "chocolate-flavored" syrup. Same with those high-end potato chips that say "truffle" on them.

I was in Tuscany in October where we got to watch a dog trainer who was teaching a dog to hunt black truffles. It was so fun (and a nice walk in the woods)! We also had dinner at Ad Hock in Rome where they have 2-3 prix fixe tasting menus. One of them was the truffle menu. Highly recommend!

I just had my first dish with white truffle about 2 weeks ago and it was absolutely fantastic. Wish I could post a picture of the pasta for all your eyes to eat as well.

I made truffle butter noodles for dinner tonight but my truffles came from Trader Joe's truffle seasoning. Wish I had the real deal. I thought it was funny to sit down to eat and open up TH-cam to see you did a video on truffles.😄
