1899 is how TheOA should have ended. Many fans predicted the same ending post Part II when it was cancelled, that Brit, Hap and Steve were all in a simulation/alter dimension while on a mission into deep space. What a wild mystery from beginning to end 1899 was. Loved it! I hope these DARK creators keep pumping out delicious Sci-fi like this. 9.5/10. We need more
I felt like a lot of the twists and reveals on this show was made for an audience and doesn't make sense in the context of the show's premise, which is kinda a pet peeve of mine. For example, when they tore down the wallpaper of the asylum and revealed the ship hull's and beyond that a mess of cables, it felt like they wanted to give the audience a mind-blowing "Dark City" moment but it doesn't work in this case cos it doesn't make sense to have that in a simulation. It feels the writers were more focused on trying to cram as many of these moments into the show rather than crafting a coherent and intelligent story.
I totally agree to your point. When the twist was revealed it left me thinking that all of the character arcs, backstories and all the emotions they invoked didn’t matter at all because it was a sim all this time. It was pointless in a way to sit through the so called flashbacks of each character.
So this video is official 1899 content with official explanations for the series, right? It's interesting that Daniel's strategy to reach the Kerberos is mentioned here, since its suggesting Daniel took the Prometheus himself out of the archives and sent the signal to bait the Kerberos. In that sense, would that mean that the Prometheus was never supposed to appear during these loops? If so, how are previous loops affected without the precense of a ghost ship leading to the Captain's rash actions and a mutiny on board? And why are the passengers of the Kerberos knowledgable about the existence of the Prometheus anyways (as a missing ship) if it theoretically wasn't supposed to appear without intervention. Many interesting questions to keep in mind for season 2...
yes, it also bothers me that they should not have known about the promotheus if it is from another simulation, i fear they won;t explain this at all and it was just looked over or ignored
I thought exactly the same, maybe 4 month before the start of the experiment, Daniel was struck with a sense of reality and knew he was in a simulation while all the others didn't know. The loop started and started again, until he found the machine to crack the code. He cracked it but got stuck in the other dimensions with all the ships on the sea, and got stuck there for 4 months. The captain seems to realize he was probably in the other ships before too. Maybe we are at the end of all the loops that they passed by and everything is explained by Daniel trying to get out of the loop, that he probably created for his wife to escape reality because their son died. Remember, he said he's an engineer. My though is that Maura is in a sort of coma somewhere in the universe, at a certain time, but only her brains fonctions, and Daniel is trying to reach out to her but can't because is stuck in her brains, her reality.
(I don't think it's an official Netflix channel, just a fan channel.) It's possible that Daniel and/or Ciaran changed the simulation to reintroduce the Prometheus and program all of the "remembrances" of it (the letters, the newspaper articles, the items in the engine room boiler) to prompt Maura to remember the previous loops to be able to wake herself up.
@@sandrafaith If you go to the main Netflix channel and go to the “Channels” tab, you can find this channel there. From what I can tell, this is supposed to be the official UK channel but with a different name?

I basically watched 8 episodes just to know that a group of people are travelling space while being in a simulation and one lady wakes up.. Even then didn't answer what's going on.
My question is why tf would you do a simulation while travelling space looking for a home planet. If the father of maura wants to free everyone from the simulation then why does daniel wants to fight it? If daniel wants maura to wake up then why don't he allow the father to do it by using the key? If maura was the creator of the simulation then why would she create where she didn't know his son and husband? If maura was the creator then why would she put her father in a role that looks like he is the one observing everything? If Daniel wants maura to wake up to stop her brother, what bad thing is her brother doing? It looks like they are all looking for a new home If the space ship scene was also a simulation then we just watched an entire season of nothing but "fake" scenes which is a waste of time
@@us_er_Max Only the person who opens the triangle wakes up... Which is why Elliott had control of the triangle up until the first mate found him. He doesn't want to free everyone---remember what kind of man Maura says he is. She created a simulation where she didn't know her son and husband because they're both dead. Her brother is keeping her in suspended animation to get back at her for being their dad's favorite child.
If you're traveling through space it is a sensible thing to do to dream in a simulation. To keep the brain working while you are in the middle of nowhere traveling for several years or decades. I think the nightmares begin with Ciaran messing up with the simulation trying to wake up Maura.
1899 - year, when Freud introduced his book - The Interpretation of Dreams, where idea about unconsciousness appeared for the first time. Kerberus (Cerberus) leads us to Greek Mythology - guarding the gates, it does not allow to get to the Underworld (unconsciousness). Spaceship - it is our Earth, we just do not treat it like that in our usual lives (we like very much a technological symbolism), we are living lives on this 'spaceship' for hundreds of thousands of years as species when first Australopitec appeared on the planet. Small team shown on the spaceship is not a part of simulation, they are a part of group psychoanalysis. For those who passed it practically, will understand what is going on. Mora just translates her trauma on the group, as everybody else transfer their traumas on the group as well. Her son died and she can't cope with it, repressing tragedy to unconsciousness. Others have their own traumas, and they acting-in (term from the psychoanalysis) them as well, as Mora does. At some point other people on the vessel disappear in waters, since they are not primary objects for the transference of traumas, as in our lives - in real life we are acting-in within our small groups of family, work or friends. The old guy watching the group on TVs - group conductor, and he has co-conductor - guy with ginger beard. Mora treats him malign, but he is just helping her to unveil the real cause of her suffering, as her husband tried to do many times before - but failed. Being a part of therapeutic group traumas being cured, since participants observe how others coped with them or start to cope during therapy. That is why main heroes start to surf from one episode of trauma to another in the film. They digest it through themselves and help the originator of trauma - symbolically it is shown as constant appearance of main heroes out of their own ‘story’, in the ‘movie’ of others. Amount of broken vessels - a number of tryings Mora had before in order to overcome trauma, but she wasn’t successful in that because of defence mechanisms. This series is about the way our psycho works: we are reproducing symptoms of trauma in every other group until we overcome it. And sometimes we need external help of ‘brother’ - the experienced person who made this journey and started to observe reality without symptoms. 'Wake up' phrase in the film - should be addressed to all of us as soon as we deepening into our repressed histories.
Aaaaaaand it’s canceled… I abhor Netflix’s ability to assassinate quality shows with unique premises but provide multiple seasons to sitcoms like The Ranch 🤦🏼
This show demonstrated a point many have made about the simulation hypothesis. Which is it doesn't matter much if we're in a simulation because all of what we see and feel is still real to us, and it's the world and the rules we have to operate within. I say this because even after it's revealed that the ship and everyone on it were a simulation, and no one was actually in any peril, the audience (me anyway) was still on the edge of their seat when these characters went through the danger and chaos. I'd guess only a small minority of people who watched this thought "oh, I see, they're in a simulation and there's no actual danger, so this is boring now."
What I still don't understand is why Daniel had to kill Ada, the little danish girl inthe beginning?? Did that have anything to do with the rest of the season? I think it was pretty mysterious right in the beginning where you didn't know who he was and it still makes me think that maybe he's not the good guy at all. Maybe he's somehow a bad guy as well, but then again, how can you define the good and the bad in this series??!! Wow, this shit is heavy...
This series had an amazing plot twist to it, the clues did start to come to light early in the series, but I would have never guessed they were on a spaceship. the decision to cancel this series was the final straw for me and Netflix. I have cancelled my subscription for the foreseeable future. They have cancelled far to many series's just when it gets interesting. I am not paying £17.99 PM for half-cocked TV shows.
I was out here expecting the whole thing to be some Bermuda Triangle stuff - boy was I WRONG!!!!🤣🤣But this was a cool series tho, interesting enough👏🏾💯
Saaame !! Still sort of think it as BERMUDA stuff!! Maybe people who disappear there are in some sort of Archive waiting for the simulation to restart.
If its there going to be season 2 , they have so many ideas for it!!! The end is very large! You can assume that maybe she is still in a second simulation! Starting remembering the reality in a second simulation o or she is awake in the truth! or she is the only one stuck in the simulation ,only the creators can know exactly whats going on i think !? I really enjoyed the series , like every other series had the boring moments full of none need scenes , but they kept the andrenaline pretty high and the mystery .
Brilliant. Awesome. Loved it. Great story line and acting. I would watch a season 2, but the truth is it doesn't need a season 2. Only things that I complained about was the Captain's unwillingness to communicate with his crew, and the eagerness of the cast to touch the crystals. Why?!?! Anyway, it all worked out in the end. Going to watch again.
I loved the beginning of the show and was slightly disappointed where it went. I thoughted it will be a mystic movie about Bermuda triangle and some kind of multiverse experience where reality and time stops. In the end it turned into space simulation uff.
They had some amazing characters that could’ve went in so many directions, but I feel like this show would’ve been best for HBO… considering they finally put the old horse down (Westworld)
I wish I hadn't read every worthy book I know about in my genre because I would love to swear off platforms which do one season, barely build a story and don't give a show any time to build a fanbase before they cancel. I am so tired of investing my time and money on the BS of unfinished stories.
I’ve lost count of the number of red herrings. The grandpa/mc’s dad watching, talking about human nature and the ship never reaching the destination. Makes it sound like there’s some kind of test, and we know the old ship appearing isn’t planned so this red herring doesn’t even track with the ultimate truth. It’s just random
@@yourerightimwrong4567 Lol not worth explaining a simple sentence to someone with your username-I can guess what you’ll say. It’s been a month but I think I’m saying this: It seems like the main character is given a test but the old ship appearing seems to be entirely irrelevant to that point, at least when you try to reconcile it with whatever point the video is making
@@bruhdabones Maybe it appeared to move the story along?? Maybe Daniel anchored himself and Elliot to that ship before it was archived-similar to Maura and all the passengers showing up on the Kerberos once it had been archived??? Use that noggin, *_Bob._*
Ciaran is incharge of running simulations for the passengers in the spaceship, that is the main simulation. Inside the main simulation, Maura, Daniel and Elliot are a family. Elliot has a terminal illness so the parents decide to create a simulation within the “main” simulation to keep him alive. The new simulation is designed in an endless loop and only Maura knows how to break out of the second simulation and back into the main simulation. She also knows how to break out of Ciaran’s main simulation. However, her father is also in the second simulation and after some loops hijacks the mainframe and the device of the second simulation, and after the misuse of memory loss injections, Maura’s memories deteriorate severely and Daniel gets worried that they won’t be able to break out of either simulation because she can’t remember the exit code. In the end, she breaks out of her simulation and the main simulation. In S2, the spaceship might be another simulation. No one knows what happened to Elliot, Daniel and everyone left behind in second simulation.
My belief - classic plot - earth dies > survival mission > use program & put people in space ship > trap consciousness so that they reach destination by time (and perhaps alive) Maybe…..
I really do not understand the logic behind the whole story. Why would Maura's brother trap her in a simulation? And why would all of them be in a simulation where they only suffer? Also what does Maura's son has got to do with all of it? And her husband? How could he randomly change the code from within the simulation? I was waiting for some big reveal where we'd find out who's behind all of it and what the point is, but really we don't know and we're left even more confused.
This series is supposed to be a multi- seasons that's why we only got atleast 1/4 of the stories. And to answer your question her father said that maura is the one that traps them in a simulation It's just that her brother is doing something to it. It's just sad that we were not gonna know what the stories. That's why i hate mystery stories especially the cancelled once 😂
A computer changing code doesn't make sense? Daniel and Maura created the entire thing. I would think that jealousy and favoritism would make some people want revenge...
I haven't seen this addressed but I think Ciaran isn't human but is an AI designed to caretake the human cargo. Somehow Ciaran's ability to create/maintain simulations has gone haywire.
After watching Black Mirror, my theory is that everyone on the Prometheus is a copy of the crew and colonists consciousness and they're running a simulation to see how humans would fare on a long journey through space. Also, the show's theme was a cover of Jefferson Airplane's 'White Rabbit', I think that if the show had continued, Maura would have represented Alice and her brother the White Rabbit as she followed him down the rabbit hole to discover the truth, that, as I said, she was just a copy of the real Maura Franklin, as was the rest of the crew.
1. The show will run for 3 seasons. So probably Maura will wake up to the actual reality at the end of season 3. The season 2's Prometheus ship and the space reality is just another Simulation. They are all trapped in the vast space just like they were in the ocean and they are riding a spaceShip like the normal ship from the season 1. 2. I think Daniel is probably lying about being Maura's husband. 3. The Captain and Maura are definitely related in some way because the show said "your mind might forget but your body remembers" and in the last episode their hug says it all.
If u think so , remember that Eyk had a family of 3 daughters , they dont have anything to do togheter (i mean relationship) , the thing they have in common is that they are both in a stimulation where their kids have been killed , but when Eyk wakes up we gonna realize more things.

I believe the year 1899 and 2099 are not chosen by chance: they make a reference to the Matrix: in there Neo believes he lives in 1999, but later in the movie, Morpheus reveals to him that he is actually in a simulation running in 2199...

9.5/10. We need more
Hopefully we get it renewed bit as of now its canceled
Th OA was so bad. It was really slow and felt like they were making anything up to retain the thriller aspect.
Our simple minds can't comprehend such brilliant concept. Baran Bo Odar is Christopher Nolan of web shows.
1899 is the longest episode of Black Mirror so far
I loved Dark and loved 1899. Fantastic
I would be devastated if there was no season 2
Pretty sure i read that when they went to netflix with the show they would only agree if Netflix agreed to a minimum of 3. 2-3 are already in progress
Season two has already aired only it was not as successful as anticipated so they put you in a simulation where it no longer exists.
Well, this is akward...

@@jromc Yeah Netflix is a joke lol. Not resubbing to them.
Exactly my thoughts !!
I totally agree to your point. When the twist was revealed it left me thinking that all of the character arcs, backstories and all the emotions they invoked didn’t matter at all because it was a sim all this time. It was pointless in a way to sit through the so called flashbacks of each character.
Yeah I noticed that in Dark too. A lot of red herrings to keep you wondering.
It was a mess which makes people's comments saying it was good and amazing bizarre.its like people have low standards
@@Keysersoze786 this was my exact thoughts!
Can’t believe they canceled this after 1 season…
Grest question - How do they remember the Prometheus
yes, it also bothers me that they should not have known about the promotheus if it is from another simulation, i fear they won;t explain this at all and it was just looked over or ignored

My question is why tf would you do a simulation while travelling space looking for a home planet.
If the father of maura wants to free everyone from the simulation then why does daniel wants to fight it?
If daniel wants maura to wake up then why don't he allow the father to do it by using the key?
If maura was the creator of the simulation then why would she create where she didn't know his son and husband?
If maura was the creator then why would she put her father in a role that looks like he is the one observing everything?
If Daniel wants maura to wake up to stop her brother, what bad thing is her brother doing? It looks like they are all looking for a new home
If the space ship scene was also a simulation then we just watched an entire season of nothing but "fake" scenes which is a waste of time
Exactly, there's no logic in any of it!
I think he was manipulating the code by “killing” the girl to mess up the simulation or throw it off and to set off sequential memories
@@Mcjesus97 Thanks, that really sounds probable!

This series had an amazing plot twist to it, the clues did start to come to light early in the series, but I would have never guessed they were on a spaceship. the decision to cancel this series was the final straw for me and Netflix. Brilliant. Awesome.
True, it had a great potential

Is Ciaran even a human?
Why would others participate in the stimulation?
Wait “second simulation”? Wasn’t there just one simulation? My brain hurts 😂
My belief - classic plot - earth dies > survival mission > use program & put people in space ship > trap consciousness so that they reach destination by time (and perhaps alive)
Maybe…..
Could the spaceship be another simulation?
it hurt my head
So this is matrix from past

There was something between those two! I need MORE OF THEM!
If u think so , remember that Eyk had a family of 3 daughters , they dont have anything to do togheter (i mean relationship) , the thing they have in common is that they are both in a stimulation where their kids have been killed , but when Eyk wakes up we gonna realize more things.

In season 2, the plot twist will be that Maura wakes up in a test tube and the date on wall reads the year 2525.
I believe the year 1899 and 2099 are not chosen by chance: they make a reference to the Matrix: in there Neo believes he lives in 1999, but later in the movie, Morpheus reveals to him that he is actually in a simulation running in 2199...
