Yay! Thank you for publishing this "extended director's cut". I love the hints of serif vs. sans-serif cliquishness, I imagine their respective parties contrasting quite a bit.
These are so clever and funny. Just conceiving of the premise is brilliant. And then the execution. I wish my friends had more of my taste in humor so I could share this joy I get from watching this.
I really like this too. I find it oddly refreshing as well as entertaining. And dare I say educational? And like you, there is no one in my circle of acquaintances who would appreciate this as much as I do.
@@ashleykerlin That is so sad. These skits are so clever-plus and funny as all get out! Times New Roman and Arial are my main go-to fonts as a longtime journalist and historian!
The thing about Times New Roman is that it has a smaller font size than most other fonts. This means that if you are writing an essay or a journal article with a strict page limit that demands you also use a set font size (say size 12), Times New Roman lets you write more in the same amount of space. As such it is super common for people in such fields to use Times New Roman just to cram more content into their submissions.
@@bethannfeng5062 it truly is. I sure hope there is more material for more. On a separate note I tried using an Aptos title on Word and tried converting to a PDF and I got an error 😂
there needs to be a movie or a full series of fonts adventures! oh, the romance (blushy arial), the generation clash (tnr 'kerning hanky panky!'), secrets of the universe (dingbats)...it's all so poetic!
I'm in love with this series 🤣, and particularly interested to see if Arial can finally see that she's her own font, perhaps not better than Helvetica, but with her own place in the Word! She'll always be *our* default.
A font of humor and puns. That was great Elle! I've always been interested in printing, calligraphy, fonts et al. but never had the concept of humor entered into the mix before! I even pay attention to the font of credits for TV shows and movies. Did you know _TPIR_ and _GTA_ use the same one? "Spill the ink" LOL.
The “commas as ellipses” line is very funny if you go back and read some of Stan Lee’s work from the 60s. The guy used his own rules of punctuation. Sentences ended with an exclamation mark by default, there was no periods. He’d use a triple exclamation mark when he actually wanted to show excitement. He’d also frequently use ellipses where your English teacher would tell you to use a comma.
OK but I genuinely went to a Helvetica party and it was a blast (my graphic design course had a night out in a club wearing t-shirts with letters on them to celebrate Helvetica's 50th birthday. We were cool.)
Elle, your point of view is brilliant and hilarious! Thanks for making the serious-minded part of me enjoy the parody and laughter in your witty wisdom.
Quite possibly one of the best creator videos I’ve ever seen. Thank you for explaining Dingbat…had never understood its purpose before. What an unappreciated font ;)
undertale fans would see that comic sans/papyrus dynamic weird first before they remember this is about typefaces HAHAHASJFHSJD anyway i canNOT believe there were stuff i never saw in the shorts!! uber glad you uploaded the full versions 😸
This is so clever and takes me back to my early days of legal secretary. I just watch these with a big smile and laugh. Thank you for sharing your creativity!
My father has a hobby using lead type and an 1880s letter press to publish poetry. Our garage was completely filled with old typefaces, rack on rack of them. I think he'd have loved these videos.
Comic Sans speaking Dingbat is just... so perfect.
As is Comic Sans using commas for ellipses. I mean ,,,
“Yeah, we’re weird - HAH! - and blowing your MINDS! Later gators!”
We all had at least one professor who used Comic Sans - brilliant minds who liked a little fun, a little whimsy
But was it justified?
Has she watched a bunch of videos about Undertale or something because that is too perfect.
I love how Garamond and Times New Roman are like parental figures.
And TNR's dad comes around 😂
With Garamond calling TNR "darling" I keep visualizing them as an old married couple. XD
I love how the eccentricities of dingbats were elevated to super-genius by means of discovery of unified field theory ❤
"There's life after default" was a surprisingly touching quote. ❤
"Are you trying to give us all Caps Lock?" was brilliant. 😂
Every second of it was brilliant!
Comic Sans and Papyrus dating is such a cute touch, they're certainly an iconic duo!
undertale…
@@beets_and_rice they are together in every universe :)
They are too iconic
Aren't they brothers in undertale...
@@sky-inder yep 💀
'A rotund little budget-friendly me' is a harsh left-handed compliment from Helvetica.
Yeah, heel turn inbound for sure
and yet way more than Ariel deserves!
Jesus dude what did Aerial do to you?
In gay world Helvetica “read” Arial. Which is not even a pun. 😂
In other, darker circles, that's a neg. Let's all hope Helvetica isn't a pick-up artist.
Heyyyy, I've watched the shorts 5 times each 😂, this has new content in it. It's somehow even perfecter.
Slightly longer versions were originally posted on Twitter (maybe somewhere else too?), but I guess they were cut down to 1 minute for YT shorts
@@bungaIowbill They were on insta too
@@bungaIowbill she has a TikTok too, these are obviously TikToks, but I chose not to be there. Didn't know she also uploads on Twitter, thanks!
I think you mean even morer perfecter ;-)

as a designer I can't get enough of these. each joke is perfect.
You are brilliant. Normal peoples' brains don't work that way. Hats off to you.
These make me unreasonably happy. Chef’s kiss. Kinda crushing on Futura. 😊😂
This womans creativity is on another level
These are so clever and funny. Just conceiving of the premise is brilliant. And then the execution. I wish my friends had more of my taste in humor so I could share this joy I get from watching this.
Yes! I just know none of my friends will understand this

Wow, just more of the genius and hilarious creativity of Elle Cordova!! Absolutely love this 😂😂😂😂
Arial and Courier were always my favourites. Only more so now.
I'm with Arial all the way.
Stupid spell correct--spells it with an "e".
This is pure genius. And hilarious.
The lil noise that plays when papyrus enters is LITERALLY exactly what I have always heard in my head lmfao
omg the additions in this version are perfection
Ah, memories of hand setting type or running a linotype. This video was a BOLD move!🙏🏼
Shrdlu
I see what you did there!
Ba-doom SHHH! 😄
I love it that Comic Sans understands Dingbat and that Dingbats understand EVERYTHING 😂😂

thanks for taking it out of shorts.
Yes -- I hope ELLE makes a compilation (in chrono order) of all her series.
This director's cut is to DIE for. Literally. That last gag had me choking on my spit it was so good.
Why do I keep watching this over and over? Somebody tell me, WHYYYYY!?!?
I have 😂

Elle, your genius and talent are sublime. Thank You for sharing your gifts with us.
I love how you're so kind to Comic Sans.
Comic sans being so chill about the Theory of everything is just so funny. She’s more happy for the dingbats than the discovery.
As a typographer who learned dtp (desktop publishing); this warms my heart. 😍
"Full compilation" my ass. YOU are making more of these.
D’you get??? 😭 it can’t end here.
Moar!!
Weird. Forceful, strange.
Can only hope! 😊
I seriously have to know how it works out between Arial and Helvetica.
Oh, it makes me so happy to have all of these in one place (and complete, on TH-cam). I keep sending the clips to people, and shall continue to do so.
Perfecter and Perfecter and Perfecter until perfectist... that's the progression.
I don't know how many times I've watched this trilogy, but it's funny every time.
So weirdly brilliant. I won't look at fonts the same ever again
Great stuff Elle! Thank you for sharing your wits and puns with us.
Finally! The full fontastic experience! Killing! 🎉
You are a treasure, thanks for the smile every time I watch your work!
How did we ever get along without you?! These are brilliant.
"what's your humor like?"
"It's complicated..."
It's fonty. Like a Doc. But accessible in many formats.
What?
Don't worry about it. Anyways....
Arial symping for Helvetica.

there’s no way Helvetica’s getting her descenders anywhere near Ariel’s diacritics. would be a crime against nature.
Never realized that all these "fonts" could looked that beautiful! So nice to see, love it. You are a wonderful and amazing talented lady, Elle. 👌
Times New Roman is still the default font in my heart!
These are simply brilliant!!!

Garamound is my favourite character ever ♡
As someone who first used fonts by rubbing Letraset sheets in the days before DTP, I appreciate type-ical humor such as this.
Now you're making me think of blue pencils and rubylith.
Elle, your point of view is brilliant and hilarious! Thanks for making the serious-minded part of me enjoy the parody and laughter in your witty wisdom.
I never thought I needed this! I missed when my workmates and I played guess the font during down time.
Brilliant and original as ever Elle. Thanks for the great fun!
Courier New is my favorite font. It makes me feel like a private investigator whenever I use it.
At the risk of exposing myself as the internet’s biggest Elle Cordova simp … god damn you are clever and funny Elle! ❤️
"spill the ink" instead of "spill the tea" is just so subtly genius
These are all so brilliantly observed & so ducking funny 🤣
I came here for the fonts and discovered a new favourite musician.

Clever Elle! The fact that you made this, and I got all of it… does that make both of us some kind of font nerds or something?
Please do more of these. I've gotten invested.
Your videos (and your music) are a treat. Thanks. I love witticisms.
