That looked intense! Fiacaill Ridge can be a real challenge, both mentally and physically. Glad everything worked out in the end.. what an experience to look back on!
Absolutely the right call....if it's not feeling comfortable, then retrace and reassess..great film btw Calum ...I'm planning to be up there fairly soon..
Hello Calum, that was pretty cool hike. By the way, we all have an internal instinct for self-preservation, and it's not fear. the decision to not push it was the right one. NEVER DOUBT YOUR INSTINCTS. Dwayne
You were absolutely right to do what you did. I have taken people out climbing who claimed to be able to do all sorts only to freeze Thus potentially putting others at risk
Hi Calum, Great call... it's got to feel right for you to continue as the consequence could have been severe if things go wrong. It would also have been very easy not to upload and share...... well done. Cheers
the odd thing about that ridge is the large flat blocks that always seem to be sloping off - makes you feel more exposed than you are. but a cracking ridge. possibly a lid might be in order if you are going 4 points on rock - the weight nothing and are lovely to sit on!. grand video and a lovely reminder of an old friend.
Cheers Robert, aye that's the first time that's really happened to me. Upon reflection, I think it's a great learning experience and the day was still very successful and I really enjoyed myself.
Nothing wrong with a wee wobble Calum. We've all been there. Good for you for being honest. Cracking day. 😎

Great video calum. Quite right to reassess when you're not comfortable. I've done the same thing before 👍
Right decision. Nice video 🙂👍

The correct decision all day long.
Takes skill to listen to your body/gut and not your ego. Good on you for making the right call on the day
Good call. And good to share - no shame in backing off if it isn’t right. 👍👍👍

Had a wobble of my own at just that point too, and took the same detour!
If there was an Empire Biscuit at the top you'd have been up there in a flash!! 😁
@@Dougsterxplor 🤣🤣🤣
@@Dougsterxplor you better believe it 😁😜😂 no ridge would come between me and my empire biscuits! Cheers pal :)
Been there myself. Thankfully had my mate Gary to talk me through where I was overthinking. Cracking conditions for the day out though 😊 ATVB Robert
