Reminds me of the Armstrong Redwoods in Guerneville, CA (just N of San Fran.). The Col. Armstrong tree is about 300 feet tall, 14 feet wide, 1400 yrs old. These Sequoias are breathtaking. I also lived in Alaska &the Pacific NW. Didn’t get the beauty of the desert-type areas until your Vids. You & Amy are making a wonderful contribution. Enjoy all your Vids. Wow. Amazing. This was filmed just 2 months before the Windy fire went through and burned everything. It’s pretty sad there now. The trail of 100 giants was mostly unaffected.
It broke our heart when we heard about the fire dangers having just been there not too long before. Glad to hear this trail wasn't impacted much but, yeah, a lot of these places just can't be replaced - at least not in our lifetimes.
Haha! Yeah... He called it glam rock Jabba the Hut in a few takes but the wind was wrecking havoc on the camera mic so the clip didn't make it. It's something that's for sure. 😂
This area is so beautiful! I’ve never been and I really want to visit!!! I didn’t know about the tanins? (Sp?) that’s interesting!! I’m so concerned we will lose some of these beauties due to wildfires😢 I need to visit while they are still standing!
WOW. and to think we have used redwood on a pathway at a home we owned. Shame. Those trees are massive and to think 70 ft around. That is deeper than our house. Loved your video and the amazing trees. Can you imagine the noise one of those trees hitting the ground makes. The earth would shake. Thanks again for showing these ancient trees of the earth. Just hope they stick around for many more years.
I believe there is a video on TH-cam of someone catching one of the sequoias falling in 2011 if I remember correctly. I'm sure it was terrifying to witness.
I was there a little more then a year ago and the Forest Service was cutting down trees do to that bark beetle you speak of. I had the experience of watching a "small" tree being cut down. The sound and thump, plus debris that kicks up is an experience I will never forget! Great video sir!
Visited Kings Canyon a number of years ago and hope to return some day. The Trail of 100 Giants is amazing. Thank you for another awesome video and for giving us the opportunity to see these majestic trees again. 😊😊
Lovely video. How long is the drive from here to General Sherman? We'll be driving from LAX and planning on seeing the Seqouias as a day trip only. Will drive to Carmel on the same day. Thank you.

Agree. The size of the trees certainly helps add to it, doesn't it?
Nice! Fire is a natural part of Sequoia's life cycle. The thick bark protects adult trees from fire damage.
We learned the same about Ponderosa pines. 🙂 Natural part, but man, it really leaves things sad looking.

Not sure. We've never been to see General Sherman or elsewhere in the area other than this trail.

If I remember right, I think Glenn took Mountain Hwy 99 from Kernville up there. It's all paved so shouldn't have any issues.

While there were not any on the trails when this video was made, looking at other reviewers, it would seem that the trail is indeed dog friendly.
