So proud of Bentley for saving his money and finding a “slightly used” cart, then fixing on it. Now he’s invested in it with $ and time and is learning all the systems and physics and logic and problem solving, and so much more. It’s a win when you get kids learning a lot without them even knowing it, while spending time with dad AND having the reward of having fun. A great life lesson, work before pleasure.

We would build go karts, bird tables, chairs from wood and play darts. Closest thing to a dad I've ever had.
This video and the relationship here is a sight to behold. So wholesome, so genuine and I wish you all the best for the future.

I was far better at breaking things, but my pops taught me how to wrench with great patience and encouragement. Thanks for the ride, Bentley. Brings back some memories. My older brothers had a two-seater, and all their neighborhood buddies had gokarts too, four others. Theirs were home built single seaters. The one my brothers had was a fancier store bought one with a bigger engine, no seat belts or roll bars. I was tearing up and down the alley like a madman giving rides to all the neighbor kids my age, around 5yrs old or younger. I was 5yrs old. I remember having to tuck it into the shed, and hide out in the house, watch cartoons, waiting for the cops to stop looking for me, on several occasions. I think elderly "safety Sally's" were worried and complained to my mother and the police, because it was fast, and I was just a little tike setting on the edge of the seat just to keep the pedal floored. Anywho...with all the nagging from my mother and old neighbors my dad gave in to getting rid of it, selling it. Worst day ever. I was reckless, seen many times with it up on two wheels, a trick I discovered how to do by accident when trying to avoid a pedestrian, but I was able to show off this up on two wheels move repeatedly after that, with a passenger no less...so maybe my mom and old neighbors had a point, but to this day I don't feel anyone was doing me any favor. This was a long time ago, in the way back 1970's, probably before your dad was even born, just guessin', maybe not. I was just a driver. Wish I had it longer so I'd have learned what you're learnin'. Keep having fun, and learning, and I guess be safe too...at least don't scare the old folks.

My brothers and I were very lucky as kids to have a dad that knew how to "make" things. He would bring home piles of steel tubing and plates, then weld them up into a go-kart with whatever parts he could find from scrap yards, neighbors and friends. Slap a lawnmower engine on it, and away we'd go on our 2 acre lot of dry California dirt (LOL). Several go-karts, mini-bikes, etc. All home-made. I learned a ton. Great channel. Front end was from an old riding mower. seat was part of an old metal lawn chair, engine was from Grandmas 2 cycle lawn boy. The kids in the neighbor hood and I wore out the lawn boy and i was so excited when Dad brought home a 6 hp Briggs. Clutch would break springs. We would start it up on a gallon paint can and push if off when it started. Ran it in the yard.

It's so cool to see two great kids doing just what kids should be doing and reaping the knowledge from two great parents with boatloads of positive reinforcement and letting them get in there fixing and creating.....

Great episode Bentley. Love your go cart. With a little bit of spit, polish and a few mechanicals you'll have a great cart. Looking foward to your next episode. Thanks.

Bentley this is absolutely incredible, keep up the great work! Keep working with Dad and learn as much as you can from him. I'm 52 and I love working with my Dad who is 81 and I learn something new every time.

Excellent video. I love these father and son projects. Letting your kids do the work themselves even when it takes longer is crucial. Having the patience to watch them learn is a sign of great parenting. Thanks for the video. Keep em coming.

I appreciate your descriptions of what's going on, Bentley. I was impressed when you stuck to that pull starting for so long. A lesser man would have just asked dad to do help.

Wow! Great job Bentley, I was literally excited with you when the engine started 😀. Derrick thanks for the family values content, kids truly follow in our footsteps and need our guidance. I think a lot of parents forget that. Best wishes.

Your dad is such a great teacher. My dad would have escalated and done it by himself. Great to see you learn and fix stuff yourself at such a young age! I started wrenching when I was 15 and failed A LOT. So keep it up little feller! Much love from Germany.

Great job Bently! You have a great Teacher, when you get older and life is different you will cherish these memories you are experiencing. The lessons you are being taught will carry on into many other aspects of your life! I always see you pitching in helping your pops on his videos, you're obviously his go to guy and right hand man. You're doing great!
Derrick thanks for maybe being an inspiration to young fathers to spend some time with their children, wich is way more rewarding than anything life can offer you! Good job guys!!! I hope you continue to be blessed with success together as a family.

I love to see kids learning how to do something besides staring at a phone or a computer game. From the time she was 3 months old for the next 5 years, until late 2020, we took care of a little girl for a friend. She was my little shadow and always wanted to help so I let and encouraged her. Yes, it took longer to do things with, "help" but it was worth every minute. Sadly, my shadow moved over an hour away in the fall of 2020 and started kindergarten. I miss my shadow and wouldn't trade anything for that time I had teaching her. The most valuable thing we can give them is our time. You sir are seeing the first benefits of that time.

Great job Bentley, you reminded me when I bought my first mini bike and fixed it up. I was about your age, but in the 1970s, after I fixed my mini bike I could outrun all the dinosaurs 🦖 that were around back then 😀

This video and channel are GOLD. The leader and the led and inclusion of the led. I got on this video after helping/teaching my 14 y.o. on his 1987 VHS Camcorder he bought with his own money. We did the tear down, assess, part finding/ordering. No better Dad/Son unifier than machines. Hands down.

I enjoyed this video -- what a thrill when you got thing fired up !! Even your kitty- cat was happy for you !! Love those Centerlines, Derek -- can't wait to see that video !!

I had a similar go cart. This is great to watch. If the chain keeps coming off it might be happening because the frame is twisting just a bit as you corner. Mine did that from time to time.
