I'm pretty familiar with the internals of those engines and that governor bar that you were messed with at the beginning. Has a plastic gear with 2 Fly weight. on it that connects to the cam timing gear If you were running the engine with out that hooked up and didn't remove that plaastic gear I'm going to bet that engine's just fine. That governor came apart, and that's what's locking up
Yup, just put a stage one on my old "one wheel peel" kart motor as well. You can leave the governor and spring in place and "lock it out" with zip ties on the spring. Other than that, just go inside and remove the governor gear, all three washers and the rod. You're still in business!
Pull off the bottom crank cover. Your govener parts are loose in the bottom end. It was idling when it shut down. I doubt there is any damage done. Your learning and that is the important part.
I noticed the lic.plate also. I lived in Acton, Maine for a dozen years. But moved back to N. H., about six miles from the border. I think it would be cool if a bunch of us would send him plates from our own states, and see what kind of a collection he could build.
Hey Bentley ,its just the govenor locking up your engine, just take off the drive side of the crankcase and remove it.leave the shaft and lever in the case so you dont get an oil leak. You're doing great!
the best lessons I ever learned were from my mistakes. Once you figure out what you did wrong, it's locked in your memory and you never forget. The things you got right the first time are the things you forget over time.
You got lucky 😂 If the governor came apart when it was running, it would have destroyed it, but since you were just pulling it, it should be ok,there will be a small flat washer that you will need to look for! But take the side cover off and there should be a plastic gear, and some metal arms, and in the bottom of the housing that holds the whole mess is the washer is sometimes it doesn't want to come out, I use a sharp 90° Pic. Now pull out the governor arm and plug the hole with a nut and bolt,USE LOCK TIGHT ‼️or the best way is to tap the hole and put a bolt in it with lock tight.
You got a toolbox larger than mine. I’m 51 years old. I’d say you’re off to a good start. Keep the momentum Youngblood you’re gonna do just fine. Follow your dad can’t go wrong.
This Bentley! The "thingy" you thought was the clutch is a governor. You need to open it up and get the internal parts out of the way. Motor should be fine
My God I came running to the comments to say this. My kids did this exact same thing to the 79cc predator on their old mini bike. Open it up and remove the governor arm and it's all good
Too bad your project engine didn't work out. Thanks for the confidence to share the bad along with the good. I also loved it when you said ,"I don't do millimeters!". Keep the videos coming. Every one improves over the last! 🙏👍
I build 212s and you only need a 24 to 28mm carb on it when you have a fully built engine. I mostly run 24mm carbs on most my engines and I turn them over 9000 RPMs. With a stock bottom end, you should run either a PZ 19mm with a #38 jet or a 22mm Nibbi type of carb. When ever you removed the governor from an engine, you HAVE to put a billet rod, and a good flywheel. PVL or a Billet flywheel work the best. The cheap Jungle flywheels are junk and will fail. My last build I ran a Ducar 212, 310 cam with ratio rockers, ported head, billet rod PVL flywheel that came with the 212 a 24mm PWK carb. It runs strong and on my Trailmaster mini bike, I run 68 to 70 mph. BTW, I got my mini bike street legal and I ride it everywhere. I put over 100 hours on it last summer and over 4000 miles. To learn more, search up 9000 rpm 212 and follow his build.
Dude you videos are getting so professional I dont know if im watching you or your dad. Great job buddy keep up the good work. Derek and Jessica you guys have to be so proud great job , what a family!!!
That carb has nothing to do with your issue. Guarantee it. You can fix it. You are extremely smart, very mechanically included, and you have an awesome Dad that is there to guide you. I have so much faith in your ability, I have a project I would love to have you work on it for me. Seriously, if you are interested, talk to the folks, hit me up. You might enjoy it.
Fun watching you work buddy! It's probably just your governor gear inside the crankcase. If you left the governor arm in place with it's spring you can zip tie the spring from expanding under throttle, essentially locking it out without having to open up the gearcase and removing the plastic governor gear with spring loaded flyweights on it. If you do open it up to remove all the governor guts, remember to remove all 3 washers on the gear. It's the third and last one folks don't see on the gear that then ends up falling into your running crank and ruining the motor. 22 mm carb is fine for a stage one build like yours, just put a #38 jet in by taking off the bowl of carb. Good luck!
Bently another good show I can tell you are gaining alot of knowledge every time you do a engine swap won't be long before you move up to bigger Engines and your dad will be a good teacher for you.
Did I just go back in time and watch an old episode of "Tool Time" with Tim the TOOL MAN Taylor!?😂 This was the plot to every single episode.😂 He would give it WAY MORE POWER AND BLOW SOMETHING UP! 😜😜 Great job Bentley! This is EXACTLY how you learn! You gave it your All but the equipment couldn't hold up. You actually did an awesome job! Thank you for sharing little buddy!
Wow! You talk so much like your dad! You’ll figure it out. Lots of good advice in your comments. Wonderful to have parents that let you make mistakes. You learn faster and more complete that way. Keep up the good work! 👍👍👍
The Bieri doesn't fall far from the bush...you're definitely your father's son, kiddo. I'm sure from the other comments you know it's most likely the governor that came apart. And owning up to your possible mistake is very respectable, no excuses, good job young man. Looking forward to the follow up vid on that engine.
You're doing a great job, Bentley. That motor wasn't revving very high to begin with, and it locked up when you tried to crank it again, so I doubt the engine is damaged. I agree with the other comments. It's likely the governor came apart and is lying loose inside. Just take it apart and remove the governor parts and I think it'll be fine.
Bentley, check the valves, just take off the cover, with higher RPM you should install valve rod guides...dont think they r in there..or a spring is broken..and please don't try to force turn a engine when it seems locked, causes wayy more damage then..love the effort...keep it up !
Bentley knows man..... it's one big air pump!!! Intakes, carbs and pipes!!! YES!!! Great looking bit of parts kiddo!!! I love the way you buy the whole "kit"!!! NICE!!! You're not done with that engine yet… You'll see. You'll fix it right up.
That do Hickey, there is an arm for the governor if the governor is not properly adjusted, you can explode your engine, however, it doesn't always explode your engine if it is not properly adjusted. The purpose of the governor is to Prevent engine overspeed. If the engine does over speed it can literally explode the engine to little pieces
Looks like new learnings are happening! FWIW, that oil looked overfull and very thin/dark...might want to put a gas shut off valve between the tank and the carb to keep fuel out of the bottom end when sitting. Cheap and effective. ;-)
Awesome video bud. Watching you wrench and learn is something that a lot of youngsters these days don't do enough of these days. Even though things didn't turn out the way you wanted, but treat it as a learning experience. Pull it apart. Look at what went wrong and file it away for future references.
Good that you're keeping a good attitude. Probably governor related like othwrs have said. Might be fixable, might not, but either way you will learn something new, and that is what life is all about. Keep up the good videos.
Red Beards Garage has a ton of videos on removing the governor parts and blocking the holes. I agree that the gear and weights probablt came apart and bound up the rotating assy. All part of learning! Keep 'er movin' eh? :D
Hey you can't win em all. Great job putting it together. I would take it apart see what's up. Might not be that major. Important thing is to have fun doing it.
If you didn't take the governor linkage out when you removed it from the the factory carb it can fall into the engine. Pop the side cover off and take it out. Make sure you place the engine on TDC or backoff the rocker arms. The cam is also held by the side cover. Any spring pressure from holding a valve open will make taking the side cover off very difficult.
Keep learning Bentley. Sometimes we break things to learn. I don't think this is totalled. As others said, you most likely have some governor parts in the bottom end.
You got to remove the internals of the governor and put a bolt in place of it. Remove the side cover of the engine and in the top left corner of the engine will be a plastic gear. You must remove it and then remove the governor arm from the engine block. And replace it with a bolt. Don’t forget about the metal washer behind the plastic gear. You will probably my a magnet to remove it. That engine is fine. Im confident that the governor came apart and the arm is hitting the crank causing it to lock up
Another great video. I might suggest though, that you know what all the do hickies thingamagigs do prior to tearing apart or trying to rebuild. Shiny doesn't make things rin right. ✌👏
Without the governor, which acts like a rev limiter at full throttle, you can over rev these basic one cylinder engines. High revs tend to pull parts inside the engine in two (reciprocating or centripetal forces break parts into two or three or four or five…)…they also don’t have pressure oiling which doesn’t work at high revs. You can make these engines rev at high rpm, but you basically have to replace all the internal engine parts and add a pressure oiling system to keep them from burning up and/or blowing apart.
Well tell ya. If your. Sons. Come out to the shop they learn stuff. Good job. Little grip but I think soon you will have more subs than DAD. Good job !!!!!
RideOn Bentley I love your channel and you’ve come a long way with your confidence on the camera, great work little Man keep it up you’re doing really well… ✌️😎👍🇳🇿
When you bypassed the governor and left the internals they can come off when you rev it high enough and it'll eat itself. Pull the side cover and you'll know.
A suggestion. Take the engine apart to determine what caused the failure. Then determine whether or not to repair it. Can when get it running again? Look out Dad. The young fellow is in the running.
U notices that it turned free til one spot the stoped, theres something stopping it, something broke like a rod, if it slowly stopped turning like u applied brakes to it means it is seizing, like a stuck or broken valve/ cam will
When the dipstick was pulled it looked like the crankcase was full of gasoline. Ive had them do that , and they wont kast long. When the needle seat in the carburetor lets gas flow through it while not in use. It'll fill the crankcase full of gasoline. Thus thinning the oil.

My thoughts exactly .
This is how we learn to do things. Doesn’t allway go right the first time
I love that Maine plate on the toolbox! Born and raised in the great State, and you are doing us proud by representing for us!
I noticed the lic.plate also. I lived in Acton, Maine for a dozen years. But moved back to N. H., about six miles from the border. I think it would be cool if a bunch of us would send him plates from our own states, and see what kind of a collection he could build.
"I don't do millimeters" No need for a DNA test to know who this kid's dad is...
Murica!
Freedom fractions
I don't know what's funnier, your comment or your handle. Great minds...
Hahahahahaha
The metric system makes way more sense than our goofy imperial system, fraction nonsense... Hopefully he learns both! 😉
Hey Bentley ,its just the govenor locking up your engine, just take off the drive side of the crankcase and remove it.leave the shaft and lever in the case so you dont get an oil leak. You're doing great!
"Richer than Mr. Beast." 😂 I would not have gotten that reference at all if it weren't for my kids. Nicely played, Bentley.
the best lessons I ever learned were from my mistakes. Once you figure out what you did wrong, it's locked in your memory and you never forget. The things you got right the first time are the things you forget over time.
Great try, Bentley ! Keep doing what you love to do.Thank you for sharing 👌 😊😊

when you remove the govenor you have to open theside of the motor and remove the inner stuff youtube has lotsa vids how to fix it.. not blown
It is if that gear and other parts came off and it ate them.
This Bentley! The "thingy" you thought was the clutch is a governor. You need to open it up and get the internal parts out of the way. Motor should be fine

For sure Bentley open it up and remove the rest of the governor if you aren’t going to use it.
Red Beard Garage, have a lot about taking Governor out, all the best
Too bad your project engine didn't work out. Thanks for the confidence to share the bad along with the good. I also loved it when you said ,"I don't do millimeters!". Keep the videos coming. Every one improves over the last! 🙏👍

I run a stock 212 with 22mm stock carb, #38 jet and larger diffuser. I disagree with the need to go billet on a simple stage one build.
Dude you videos are getting so professional I dont know if im watching you or your dad. Great job buddy keep up the good work. Derek and Jessica you guys have to be so proud great job , what a family!!!
Awesome presentation and a great learning experience - the dreaded governor. I did exactly the same thing as a kid on my minibike 40 years ago. 😂
LoL...."I don't do millimeters"...I think that is my new favorite quote
That carb has nothing to do with your issue. Guarantee it. You can fix it. You are extremely smart, very mechanically included, and you have an awesome Dad that is there to guide you. That’s a real bummer, buddy. You and your dad will figure out what’s going on these things happen. Good luck.

Bummer, Bentley. Stay positive...they can't all be winners every time. You're good at what you do, so be proud as you grow into a master mechanic!
All part of the learning process. Tough break Bentley. Good luck with your motor.
Keep it up, you are learning and that's the most important part!
Your presentation 101%, you rock!!!
Bentley, keep on learning and exploring your interests in engine building and tuning.
Well that's too bad that happened. Taking it apart and getting it fixed will give you some more experience.
Great work Bentley! I must say your future in the Automotive area looks bright! Keep it all up!
Hemi... that's awesome! He's a Hemi Brother!
You got that right!
Dang it, she's locked up tighter than Alcatraz!! It's fine.
Can’t wait to see the inside of that motor. Sounds like a dropped a valve or rod bearing came loose.
You should totally do a colab with cars and cameras they are 1 state over from you and very good people
You're doing a great job, Bentley. That motor wasn't revving very high to begin with, and it locked up when you tried to crank it again, so I doubt the engine is damaged. I agree with the other comments. It's likely the governor came apart and is lying loose inside. Just take it apart and remove the governor parts and I think it'll be fine.
You need a live axel frame little Dude, so you can stop that one wheel peel ! 😃 keep up the good stuff Bentley!👍
Tough break Bentley, hope u figure it out! Can't wait to see it rippin lil dude!!!
It’s definitely your governor little buddy. Gotta open it up and remove the pieces. No biggie. Thats how you learn🍻
Well Bentley you just added more to the experience locker in your mind and you learned something important. Keep trying!
Use quad zero steel wool on valve cover to make it shine
Bentley, check the valves, just take off the cover, with higher RPM you should install valve rod guides...dont think they r in there..or a spring is broken..and please don't try to force turn a engine when it seems locked, causes wayy more damage then..love the effort...keep it up !
The internals of the governor are probably the issue. Good luck, Tennessee!!
Good luck kiddo! You’re a natural.😊
Maybe a valve problem. Those OHV engines are known for that. Valve stem snaps off and falls into the crankcase.😊
That do Hickey, there is an arm for the governor if the governor is not properly adjusted, you can explode your engine, however, it doesn't always explode your engine if it is not properly adjusted. Love this little guy.😊
If it can be fixed your the one to do it! Don’t ever give up…….
I'm with you big guy I don't do mm either. Please keep the videos coming because you are a remarkable young man and we all love your videos.
Looks like new learnings are happening! FWIW, that oil looked overfull and very thin/dark...might want to put a gas shut off valve between the tank and the carb to keep fuel out of the bottom end when sitting. Cheap and effective. ;-)

Good that you're keeping a good attitude. Probably governor related like othwrs have said. Might be fixable, might not, but either way you will learn something new, and that is what life is all about. Keep up the good videos.
Just guessing it might be something in the valve train. Great learning video.
Red Beards Garage has a ton of videos on removing the governor parts and blocking the holes. I agree that the gear and weights probablt came apart and bound up the rotating assy. All part of learning! Keep 'er movin' eh? :D
I would be shocked if it’s blown Bentley. Take it apart and remove the governor parts from the inside. You will be fine. Good job so far buddy.
Hey you can't win em all. Great job putting it together. I would take it apart see what's up. Might not be that major. Important thing is to have fun doing it.
Great music selections, Bentley. 👍🏼 So many videos on TH-cam have horrible music.
Hi Bently nice video 📹 and workmanship !!!

All the onions ! Love ya bud !
Awesome stuff on your channel bud. Keep up the great content. Should port the head and put stronger valve springs.will run a lot better.
Thats tough bud but you out in the garage doinn things! Love it!
Looks like you got whats known as "other problems" !! You'll figure it out !!
C-boys hoodie nice 👍
Keep up the work young man your on your way to doing great things
Keep learning Bentley. Sometimes we break things to learn. I don't think this is totalled. As others said, you most likely have some governor parts in the bottom end.
great job on video sir!
Sorry Bentley, that Sucks! At least you have a nice Carb, and other parts. Better Luck next time. Great Video! Thank you.
Take the case apart, remove the governor and keeps us posted on how good it runs.
Great job. 👍

Excellent Video Bentley :) also sorry that motor try use didn't work out and would ask dad what do with motor hopefully get fix up for you too!
That’s a great slogan for a LGG t-shirt: “I don’t do millimeters”.
It's the governor internals...IMO.. I think the motor is just fine
You go buddy lots of love from 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
A suggestion. Take the engine apart to determine what caused the failure. Then determine
whether or not to repair it. Can when get it running again? Look out Dad.
The young fellow is in the running.
Haters are gonna hate and we don't care.Keep doing what you're doing Cause we love it
Was running lean definitely needs to be rejetted with bigger main but check the float incase thats starving for fuel check utube for float adjusting 👍
Good new project would be simple rebuild. Remove the head drop the oil pan and you’ll find a broken piston. Easy fix.
Good vid Bentley 👌 Thanks!
U notices that it turned free til one spot the stoped, theres something stopping it, something broke like a rod, if it slowly stopped turning like u applied brakes to it means it is seizing, like a stuck or broken valve/ cam will
Oh and if you put a30 series torque converter set up on it would greatly improve you take off and top speed as well.
That carburetor is a 24 mm a 48 mm carburetor is massive and you need a D-port adapter for the carburetor not around one
Nice job Bentley
Too be young again, and the experiences are new, things are fun.
Fingers, toes, and eyes crossed hoping it's just the governor
When at full throttle you can Rev engine higher by pushing it past the limiter setting.
Good work Buddy
When the dipstick was pulled it looked like the crankcase was full of gasoline. Ive had them do that , and they wont kast long.
When the needle seat in the carburetor lets gas flow through it while not in use. It'll fill the crankcase full of gasoline. Thus thinning the oil.
It'd be cool to see a vgg lgg cars and cameras cross over
